This video presentation was excellent and mostly relevant even though it is now 4 years old. I am a relatively new OneNote user and can say that it does most of what I need. Thankyou so much. The default folders is so simple thanks. I now have everything I need, whenever I need it on hand. It has created a super organised me. I have been able to get rid of all to do apps. Well worth watching.

Free version works great, and you can sign up for a outlook.com address to get a free OneNote where you store your notebooks.

very informative. One question, how do you manage follow up dates on waiting for a response. EG. if you expect an answer by a date and you haven't received it, so you need a prompt to say chase up that person.

I complete the task I had on sending the email and then go in and flag the mail I sent and categorize it as follow up

Thank you for the video, but I prefer by far the previous versions of OneNote. I've used the OneNote for windows 10 and I find it a poor version of the former ones. The so many features that made me switch from Evernote to OneNote are missing. Other features I missed are: dock to desktop, the snipping tool, the back up and save on local drives, the navigation panel on the top and right sides, new sections group, etc. I was expecting Microsoft to add some Word or Onetastic features not to release a downgraded version. I just hope that OneNote 2016 the desktop version will be supported for a longer time or someone creates an open source app like OneNote because there's a market out there and no products meeting the needs of the users.

The OneNote you don't like is the free version provided to ALL Windows 10 installations and updates. You're referring to OneNote 2016 as the better one and you are correct. it has many more features, but you have to pay for it when you pay for your Office 365 subscription. So, it is either from your work, or you purchase a subscription from Microsoft and have your own set of Office 365 tools, including OneNote 2016.

Was looking at moving from Evernote to OneNote. Sadly the dumbing down of OneNote that has become apparent during my research is a deal breaker. Back to Evernote. Not going to go back to ancient software.Example: Send to Evernote from Outlook includes attachments. The "interface" to Onenote is now nothing but printing out the email. Attachments get lost.

Hi I'm putting my e-mails in Onenote and this by project, but the result is that it is not so clear. I don't have the same view like in Outlook where you have 2 lines. Do you have a solution?

Stale, I have created a template in one note which is working great. The problem I have is when I cut and paste a snip or picture into my template and then remove it to up-date the snip the One note template does note snap back to its original template shape. Is there a setting I can use to have my template snap back to original configuration after removing pictures and making changes?

Thank you for this Video. Actually I find the TAG topic very helpful. But if you have 1500 topics that you have to manage, like at my work, one note couldnt help me. Quick reporting, no preparation for meetings, no edit of meeting minutes, topics sorted by: priority, last comment on topic, individual team who is involved, questions at specific people, todo done, todo open, different project topics, and immadedtly collecting all Comments, decisions from different meetings over last years by one click. do not see how one note could solve these managing workflows. The point here is, finding and colleting stuff quick in seconds. The sorting and filtering mechanism of excel is here the powerful function that stands above one note. Actually a combination of one note and excel would make it work.

Any reason that I can't open your template. I'm in my OneNote on my Windows 10 surface pro and it tells me that I have to buy MS 365 for $100 or so. What's up with that. It tells me I can't create a page. I have no problems creating pages except for this "package" file.

I have not tested with a free account. Try installing the Windows version of OneNote and import it there. It's free but have all features www.onenote.com/download

I simply can't make this template file open, either in my desktop One Note or my online One note. It is running me around in circles with account logins and "wait" messages, and "done" messages and just leaves me with a pile of crap. I'm starting to think that nothing about One Note works any more. I spent a bunch of time moving certain files from Ever Note to One Note and there seems no way to use anything. I'm wondering if this is some kind of scam to get me to give Microsoft $100. I know that most apps I download from the MS store for "free" are crippled until I pay a "fee". I'm getting very soured on MS. One Note has a slick looking interface, but has no functions that I can't get from various open source apps. Sheeesh. I listened to this entire presentation and will have to do without this template. No problem, but if this is how it starts, how will it end?

Some of it works some of it does not. Email forwarding still is a joke, after 3 years all you get from Microsoft is “ Ooops! Something went wrong” yea right, we know this ourselves, those of us who are daft enough to trust OneNote functionality. Get your fingers out Microsoft and fix it! If you can that is?!

One Note seems complex and superfluous. I just use Sticky Notes or To Do files. I don't want everything I do in the Cloud. I also want to find things right away. I can do all that on Word. One Note is like Drop Box in a way.

FYI - The Version of OneNote in the video is OBSOLETE! As Mr Hansen would tell you... Don't waste your time.

The version in the video is the OneNote 2016 version, which is well and alive and heavily used by many. Microsoft was about to go away from this version, but are now back on track keeping it up to date, read more here: www.theverge.com/2019/11/4/20947729/microsoft-onenote-2016-desktop-app-dark-mode-support-download The techniques I talk about is not so much related to the version you choose to use, but the mindset. I also talk about the mobile clients which are the same today. This video is far from obsolete, I would say.

@ Whenever I'm tempted to criticize the fluency of someone for whom English is not his first language, I ask myself how I'd sound in HIS language. Your English is not free of accent and can be halting at times, but I had no trouble following it. I have infinitely more trouble making OneNote work. Most of Microsoft's stuff is a dog's breakfast.
