Also, the Chicago incident has been blown out of proportion after investigation. It was less to do with typical EV vs weather but more due to driver behaviour and coincidence. It happened near O'hare airport. Two or three out of 5 stations in that area went down due to cold - yes. But at the same time, there was many Tesla owners that landed after long trip within the same time frame. So there was an abnormal surge in traffic to charge, and because most of these owners also left their cars at the Airport parking lot for a week with Sentry mode on, it basically depleted all their battery while they were travelling. And by the time they got to the working station, they were already out of charge and could not wait in line. This scenario could have been avoided if they turned off Sentry mode which would have allowed them to either wait in line, go to a station further out or just go home and recharge there.

Another benefit to EV's in cold weather is that you don't have to stand around in the frigid cold while you wait for your ICE car to fuel up. Some people will go back into their car and wait. But you're not supposed to do that because it risks building up static charge, and a resulting spark could ignite the gasoline fumes.

EVs in the winter are the absolute best. I hate ICE cars in the winter,takes ages to warm up...they feel like dinosaurs

Nice to hear you . Since the last time , your English was developed significantly. ❤ From my side you speak like a native Canadian 😊 unfortunately I can't afford Tesla for today but who knows for the future 😊

Loved the video! As an EV owner I would like to thank you! What are your thoughts on the Hertz story in the US. To much to repair them??? I guess that could be it. I watched a video from the UK were a rental place loves them because of the low maintenance cost. Could the US issue be more to do with the amount of time it takes to deliver it to the customer and explain how to use it plus they need to charge them before delivery? Then the customer needs an app to charge it which is just another complication! Maybe it is just to complicated and that is why they want out? Cheers

I ve built my own EV there for i hope I can provide a Technical point of View 1- Each Electric motor creates 3.5kw of Heat obviously if you have 2 motors that's 7kwh of heat 2- There's a few Grey Areas what happens if you only have 1 motor, as most Teslas have a single motor 3- If you have to Heat the Cabin, how much heat is being diverted from batteries 🤔🤨

I would rather spend time with family instead of planning a charging route and waiting for a free charger to be available.

I'm thinking of buying a Tesla should I get new or used

Depends on the price. Preowned Teslas cost usually not significantly less compared to new ones.

If thinking used, I'd investigate what Hertz is doing with it's Tesla fleet. I don't know if it's a good deal but it's worth a look.

So, if understood it right. Tesla is the perfect solution when you can charge overnight. Rest of EVs and charging stations are not reliable. That was my idea, I hope I’m not just bias.
@LifeInCanada9 ай бұрын
Any EV is a good solution when you can charge it overnight at home. Yep the Tesla Supercharger network is the best so far. The rest (in the US & Canada) are not that reliable yet.

How entitled to think everyone has a garage to charge their car in. THAT's why they are at a public charging station.
@LifeInCanada9 ай бұрын
I guess you missed the point. If someone doesn't have an access to charging overnight maybe EV is not the best car option in this case. In addition to that often use of the fast charging is not good for the battery health.
@LionRoars9189 ай бұрын
@@LifeInCanada .. that is why. In Canada a lot of people do not have the ability to home charge. Myself I don't and an EV would be a nightmare. They are not a good fit for most people.

@jrockvan73049 ай бұрын
Did you watch the video? They are awesome in the cold but yes range is less. If you can charge at home, range doesn’t really mater unless you drive regularly more than 250km per day.
