Sealing the Paludarium Airtight - Part Aquarium Part Terrarium

Life in Jars?

Life in Jars?

4 жыл бұрын

The paludarium ecosphere has been finally sealed airtight. This homemade part terrarium and part aquarium closed ecosystem is now finished. As it turns out, there is an aphid plague in the terrarium section of the paludarium. Globular springtails, as well as regular springtails have been added to the paludarium. The amount of leeches has grown.
Enjoy!

Sometimes I look up at the stars and feel really tiny and insignificant. Then, I watch videos such as this and realize how things that are way smaller than me can be larger than life as well, and I feel really thankful to be a human who can appreciate the world from multiple perspectives. You really manage to get a lot of great views in these videos. Loved the one with the springtail walking on the water with it's reflection cast on the surface.

from my youth years of collecting all kinds of water creatures in my 2.5 meters (yup! it was F###ING LARGE!!) aquarium, I know that the leach's intestines are not his inner parts but embrio leaches soon they will pop the membrane and fill her complete under cavity on my open no pump natural ecosystem 2.5 meters aquarium I had everything from micro waterbugs to large water beetles right up to small perch and even wooly hand crabs and a view adult eels! it worked perfectly for 10! years from age 12 to 22 then I set my critters free and focussed on other hobbies.

That is so cool! My ultimate dream haha. Yeah I know that some species of leeches carry their eggs around but I wasn't sure if this was one of those species and I didn't want to spread misinformation, but I guess that's exactly what I did haha.

I think it would be cool to see you make a new ecosystem that is focused on getting multiple snail species, not excluding other organisms that would be beneficial but instead making a sort of snail sanctuary! I have had a closed ecosystem with a single tiger snail acting as the largest creature for about a year now and i love seeing him interact with his environment. Thanks for getting me into creating these small worlds.

@XionGaTaosenai
@XionGaTaosenai 4 жыл бұрын
Their tails are tucked underneath their abdomen where you can't see them normally, but when they feel frightened or agitated, the tail will flick out very fast and catapult them into the air - hence the "spring" part.
