Replay. Definitely hit home--my biggest takeaway is that the swish pattern interrupts the compulsive thought with a picture of my ideal self in a general, non-specific way, which allows it to work universally on any number of patterning issues. This is deep. I'm so glad I have been able to find your videos, sir.

Apparently not. Good for you if you used NLP to get the outcome you wanted, but you didn't use the Swish Pattern to do it unless being her ideal self included eating sushi.

Listening to the replay. When I studied the Silva method one of the tools was the swish pattern which as you said in the lesson, focused on my ideal state versus a more neutral state that replaced the trigger image. For me I find this approach more “believable” as I am sometimes challenged by visualizing the wish fulfilled. Lots of great take always as you described in the presentation. Thanks for the insights and the simple explanation of the tool.

Wow, thanks for this. I love that you brought up that Steve Andreas wasn't afraid to challenge people who he thought were doing it wrong. It reminded me of a time years ago in the late 90s, when there was a very popular nlp (ish) email group that steve happened to be a member. The creators of the group were branching away from nlp into their own methodology. I remember steve actually commented a few times saying he could see some value in where they were creating. But unfortunately they took offence once to Steve's very legitimate questions around one of the techniques and ended up having a public falling out. I can't remember the exact details, but i felt so bad for the way they treated him that i emailed him directly (Steve) to see if he was okay. He didn't seem bothered in the slightest about it and was actually more interested in how they came to that reaction. How did they structure and represent his questions that lead to that reaction. Steve Andreas was the real deal, advanced nlp in so many ways, and I'm glad you're continuing his work

Thank you. Yes, Steve was undeterred by people taking offense to his mission to find real answers. He was relentless. Even a few months before he passed away, he sent me an email critiquing some of the copy on my website. Oh Steve. But that's what made him great.

I randomly found the swish pattern via Dr. David Snyder. Later that night I went home and ran it. I had a very specific goal over something like 'completing my tasks.' It was a great experience. However, the surprise came at 2am. I suddenly woke up with a VERY LOUD urgency to go by some more colorful cloths. I went to Walmart at 2:30 am and bought some bright colored polos and shirts to wear at work. That morning at work many people stopped to mention how bright I looked. I was typically not noticed. I wore black polos and khakis everyday. No wonder. I got a loud urgency to look up psychology issues. I discovered that I had an 'attachment to deprivation.' I realized that I was trying to hide while also being a very loud personality among peers. I am not an introvert by any means, but my inner child was still trying to hide. What a trip. I'm pretty sure that whatever I 'actually' did with the swish pattern, it CERTAINLY shook some deep things loose.

Hey, thank you sir I was doing it wrong. One thing I found that helped when going back to the old unwanted behavior after the swish is to count down from 10 to 0 in your head and then redo everything. It's astonishing how each time it becomes more challenging to envision the unwanted behavior. I'm beginning with small steps, and hopefully, if I notice some improvement, I will gradually progress to other areas for me it was porn addiction. I'm uncertain how this will aid in boosting confidence with women or finances. When I visit the ideal place, I envision myself breathing in a way that resembles meditation. Although I understand you advised against doing anything, this feels like the closest approximation to doing nothing that I could imagine. I feel like most of my self-help gurus have let me down the only one I can't seem to knock is Wayne Dyer his stuff is still so good even after years of listening to it.

Be careful with the word perfect. It has the implication of an impossible standard that you will never reach, which means you'll always fall short and likely feel bad about yourself. Reply: I also have been taught in my NLP practitioner course the wrong switch pattern technique. I found out this while I was learning the silva method where laura Silva was explaining how to do visualisation correctly. Most people when they want to change a habit, they visualise how they act for example: if they want to lose with, they imagine themselves, how they do exercises or eat more healthily. We don't have access all the time to do the things that we imagined ( we cannot eat all day healthy food or do exercises) and that's why the bad habit always is back. Instead of seeing ourselves as how we act, we should have the feeling of how we want to feel when we become our future selves because we have access to our feeling all the time. I hope that makes sense. 🤩

Replay. Biggest takeaway was not using a specific context for the ideal picture I was taught differently. Question: If the image is only from head to shoulder how do we know it’s our ideal self? I ask because I always had this thought that my ideal self isn’t doing the things I’m doing now so to make that image I though it would have to be me doing the things my ideal self would be doing. Thanks for everything you do you are deeply appreciated. 🙏🏽
@mamaahu Жыл бұрын
You can make the image the way it works for you. Head and shoulders is just a suggestion. The bottom line, that’s been hard for me to really get, it that it’s a very personal thing. Test and experiment and change it for yourself and see what works for you. If seeing more of your body ( be sure there’s no context or content) helps you to have the result you want, then use that. It’s for each of us to discover. Just be sure that you follow the steps excactly at first. Then, when you know you have got it, start getting creative.❤️

@@anaperovic1706 the Swish Pattern might not be the best pattern for this. It doesn't sound compulsive. You can do the Swish Pattern daily if you're working on something different every time, but you would probably run out of things to swish after a few days. This is when your creativity becomes important and don't say you're not creative. We're always creating in our minds. Create an image of yourself that when you see it (you), you just know this is the you who is fulfilled and living your highest ideals without seeing any specific context and without seeing you doing any specific behavior. No one can create that image for you. Maybe you see a black curtain behind you or a green screen. Maybe your eyes are bright and your skin is full of color. Perhaps the muscles in your face are relaxed and you have a happy and confident smile, etc. Take the time to create this image. Ask yourself what does your ideal self look like?

I know that eating more and more sugar creates a hunger that is never quenched and does lift you temporarily. I am looking to pattern interrupt to make a different choice within therapy not contextual in the swish. Just seeing the head and shoulders with no context brings about a feeling of 'you've got this'. If the head and shoulders defines who you are without a problem, it reinforces this perfectly as if you have already overcome and is past tense so lets keep going as it is attainable as the picture shows. Please let me know of anything you would change or add to this. Many thanks Mandy

I always wondered why it would be a good idea to swish back and forth several times. The answer I got when I asked my lecturers was it confuses the brain when processing the trigger, which I thought would be half correct. The main question I have at the moment (before going away and practising this new information) is what is the best way to get a subject or client to envision their best self with no context. What sort of words or phrases have you found are best at allowing them to see that new image?
@DamonCart10 ай бұрын
You don't want to swish back and forth because that can create a yo-yo effect where your ideal image swishes in place of the trigger image and then the trigger image swishes back in as the ideal image goes away. Only practice swishing the ideal image in so that it takes over the trigger image. Don't swish back. Set the images back up and practice the swish only in that one direction, never back and forth. The Swish Pattern is not about confusing the brain. It's about interrupting a pattern and setting a new course toward your ideal self rather than being triggered to engage in a bad habit. I just tell people to see an ideal image of themselves in no particular context and not doing any particular behavior. You can think of yourself being in front of a black backdrop or a green screen. I will tell them that you'll know when you have a good ideal image when you look at it and you're not even quite sure what it is about the image, but there's just something that communicates that this is your ideal you who has solved all of your problems and who is living your highest ideals.

can you practise this on several habits etc., like, let's say I smoked AND overate. can I exchange whatever association/trigger I have with either one with that ideal image? And in that line, would it work with several triggers for the same habit - like, if I smoked and not only a image of a cigarette would trigger that, but also an imagine of a friend I smoke with, a certain place or whatever?

Very good questions. Yes, you can use it on multiple habits. When I say don't practice this everyday, I mean that for the same habit because you want this to eventually become unconscious. It's more powerful that way. But if you want to use it on other habits you want to break, go for it. Yes, you can, and should, use the same ideal image of yourself for any habit you want to break because the ideal image is in no particular context and because you're not doing any particular behavior. Your ideal image is universal so it will work to break any and all bad habits. Yes to your last question. If you find that you have multiple triggers for the same habit, you can do separate swishes for each trigger.
