Best 'splaining of the physical/angular difference between reverse and non-reverse throws I've ever seen. Keep rocking this stuff, Jordan. Why is the same concept not true in the shot? Storl comes pretty close to a non-reverse sometimes, though.

Christopher Hamilton it is the same this is just a discus video.

I have been looking these differences for months. But on Arete throw nation they mention that the block foot is different in both styles.

Thanks for the videos, Jordan. Can you give some specifics about your stairs routine (form, pace, duration, focus, etc.)? I've coached throwers through the years with lower back pain, and this could be something to incorporate to help them with strength imbalances and pain management. Thanks again!

Scot Passler I started my back rehab with treatment from a physical therapist and stretches and once it was feeling good enough for stairs I started doing 40minutes 5 times a week. When I’m outside on the stadium I do 2 steps at a time because I have the walk down to rest. But can always start with one at a time. On a stair master it’s also only one at a time but no rest so it’s still a great burn. Once I was able to do the whole 40 minutes without getting tired I started building up with a weight vest for extra resistance. I don’t know that this is the most effective way to do it but I’m going to experiment with it this year. I plan to drop down to 15-20minutes in a couple months to try to not develop too much slow twitch muscle from such long sessions

Scot Passler it’s really just trial and error for myself right now but I’ve seen great results so far.

A non reverse throw and a reverse throw arent differentiated by release height. Robert's non and Riedels non (among several others) are very different. You're explaining a stylistic differential, not a mechanical difference. The difference between a non and a reverse is that a reverse gives a higher potential for release speed due to the nature of using the legs more explosively. Jumping is a very explosive movement. Non reverses dont redline the potential, just maintains a process of control and consistency. You fight the reverse for the sake of the block but even Stahls right foot comes off before his left does. This is because he uses it.
