Does the non-reverse put more stress on the ankle complex?

@@RobertSantos-rw8dy Not that we have experienced with our athletes, unless they are already injured. In that case, not anymore than a reverse.

My coach used to tell me to start with a non-reverse first throw of the event, and often it was my best throw of the set. Adrenaline tended to make me rush the left foot jump when reversing. Great instruction.

That makes sense depending on the individual.

I am working on a project at the coaching school in Spain about discus throwing. One question I have is why some throwers finish with a reverse and others with a non-reverse. Is there a specific movement earlier in the sequence of actions that necessarily leads to the feet leaving the ground and finishing with a reverse? Or are there throwers who prefer to finish with a jump, leg switch, and rotation to avoid a foul? I would appreciate it if you could clarify this doubt. I am very grateful to your KZbin channel. You provide very valuable information. Greetings from Spain.

How do you go about teaching someone the reverse? I really like the side to side/ backwards 3 approaches and have had recent success using it in my coaching, but teaching how to reverse is the one thing I’m having difficulty with coaching.

I try to say keep shoulder rotating and moving forward so much that your back foot has to move forward and you rotate your left side at same time which causes the switch. Hope that helps.

Throws coach here: Ive always said a truly perfect throw does not require a reverse. There shouldn't be any left over energy after a proper throw.

Have a 7th grader who throws 150 plus non-reverse, when would you suggest starting to move toward a reverse or just keep him fixed?
