They probably said this was Masters due to a glitch with ranked borders that gave them a free Masters border. Due to a combination of not being able to be demoted from your league and placement glitches, people were receiving Masters borders and being placed in Masters 3 league, despite people's MMR still being Gold/Plat/Diamond level.

actually, i searched their names here and this is diamond 3 lmao. When the players are masters, their mmr usually shows up with the border, and they are only masters when their mmr are above like 4200. diamond is above 3100 and below 4200, platinum is above 2700 and below 3100... I don't remember everything but that's the mmr range I remember
