I actually have both brands. I first bought the Manduka 9 years ago and it shows no sign of wear. When I want to post photos online, I use the Lifeforme which I got less than a year ago, and so far it has not shown any signs of wear. Basically, I would say that the Manduka is the forever mat, whereas the Lifeforme is quite simply beautiful. Perhaps we should all have 2 - one for show and one for work!!!!

I like your thinking! One mat for the photos and the other for all our sweat and tears!

I have both and find them both equally good. About the same weight, and each has a slightly rubber smell. Hot yoga class brings out the smell a little bit more in both. My Manduka does stain a bit more, but not too bad.

FYI - for HALF the price, you can get a mat that's made from the same materials as the Liforme, has the same dimensions and thickness: The Plyopic Ultra Grip Pro Yoga Mat. And what's even better is Plyopic also do a Pro+ and a Lite version if you prefer a mat that's thicker or more portable 🙂

I liked my Liforme mat while it lasted, but unfortunately that was not very long. It was showing considerable signs of wear after two years and I had to replace it after a further six months. I have recently bought a Manduka PRO Long. I'm impressed so far but will see how I get on long term.

Sorry to hear you had to replace your Liforme. I do hope you enjoy your Manduka for many more years!

Based on your other reviews, I just bought the Manduka Pro (long version). As much as I wanted a pretty mat, I really liked that they have a long version for tall people and it sounds like a good, long-lasting investment piece. I just need to prep it / break it in and I will definitely be watching your video on that! Thank you for all your videos - such great info!

Rachel thanks for sharing! I do hope you have fun with the breaking in process and that you then really enjoy your Manduka :-)

Thank you Alexia! Took me several days to find out if I wanted the Manduka pro or the Liforme. I personally feel like the Manduka (for someone who just wants a generally good mat that you can't go wrong with) is the classic. From a semi-beginner to yoga, I enjoy your videos greatly!

Alexander thank you so much for the lovely comment! The truth is both mats are great, but yes the Manduka is one you can’t go wrong with, plus you’ll have it for life! Just remember to break it in first :-)

Manduka Pro is non absorbent and therefore more slippery if you do hot yoga or yoga in a warm room and one should use a towel with it. Liforme soaks up sweat and bacteria but the grip is great. You also need to air it out after practice because it soaks everything up and cleaning is a bit hard. By the way I saw liforme on sale around black Friday. I think 30%off. So if someone is a germaphobe go with manduka pro))

Definitely not the Manduka! You’ll be sliding everywhere if you don’t use a towel.

May I ask :Does the white color of lifeform yoga mat easy to get dirty & not easy to maintain the clean condition? Thank you for your time.
@AlexiaKYoga Жыл бұрын
Good question! Ok so let’s just say it shows dirt much more than any other mat I have. It cleans rather easily but you will have to clean it more often than any other color.

You do really wonderful videos! So thanks so much for that! Regarding eco credentials, it might help to reconsider though that the Manduka is actually not nearly as eco friendly as Liforme. While its true you only need to buy Manduka once, ecologically minded yogis (and we all should be) really shouldn't be looking for a mat that will last a lifetime.Because Manduka is PVC (aside from their ecolite range!) its still a really controversial material, even though they make it in a way to be less toxic than PVC normally is. The sad fact about PVC is that its basically impossible to make it eco-friendly. So while Liforme won't give a life guarantee, its beause their mats are guaranteed to biodegrade in 1-5 years once they reach landfill. So while it might cost us a bit more money to buy a few mats over the course of a lifetime, I'm ok with that if it means I know my yoga practice isn't going to cost the earth long after I'm gone. x

Brenna I completely agree with you! It would be interesting to know what the most sustainable yoga mat is if we were to take into account someone practicing yoga for 40 years. And then take all factors into consideration (e.g. materials, manufacturing, number of mats needed, shipping etc). I may look into this more and make a future video :-)

I have a Manduka pro for few years, the quality is good, looks like a new mat but the grip is very bad, I slip all the time if Im sweetie ot not... Its a very expensive mat and Im very disappointed about the quality of the grip

I'm so sorry to hear you haven't had a good experience with Manduka. After a while the grip improves so maybe you have a faulty mat? Perhaps you could consider contacting Manduka and asking for a replacement?

Hey Alexia, love your videos and learning so much watching each and every one of them ❤️ I'm ready to invest but I don't know if Manduka will be grippy enough for my sweaty hands and feet. Seems like Lifeform has much better grip for wet and dry practices but doesn't last long. Please help me! 🤷♀️😂
@AlexiaKYoga3 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! Check out my latest video as you'll see me do a dry vs wet hand grip test. Have a look to see which one would be best for you! And regarding how long they last, well, the only mat that will really last a long time is the Manduka Pro. The others may last 2-4 years.
