Lifting and Leveling (3-4") a 4th Generation (2003-2009) Toyota 4Runner

This was a super fun job that I couldn't help but record a little of! Kelly and I lifted and leveled this 2008 Toyota 4Runner using Bilstein 5100 shocks and struts, OEM FJ Cruiser coils, and some Daystar 1.5" spacers/

I rebuilt a 97 Tacoma 4x4 3rz engine a few years back. Kind of a rare engine. The head gasket leaked, from a warped deck, so the engine had to come out, and have the deck milled. Did the balance shaft delete from LC Engineering. ARP head studs. Was a fun build. Then sold it.

They're awesome but you'll miss the fuel economy. I went from my '99 Tercel 5 speed with no A/C to my '15 Tacoma SR5 Double Cab, Long Box 4X4 and that was a huge adjustment at the pumps lol

How does it ride. The front coils are much tighter wound which would make them softer lowering the vehicle. You obtained the lift from the strut adjuster. There is a travel limiter that has to limit the travel before the coils mash into each other. If the spring is allowed to mash till there is no travel, becoming a solid tube and will totally cause things to break. The travel limiter will now be the spring adjuster and be torn off maybe before the rear strut mount. Doesn't really matter which one fails first, not food either way. The stock rear's had a steeper angle making them firmer. Hard to tell difference in wire diameter from video. The stock one looks like it could be heavier but it may be just the protective rubber coating and or it was sitting closer to the camera. Looks like you put the rake back in it LoL! Wonder what it would have looked like without 1.5" spacer. I would prefer the softer ride for off road and the stock firmer ride for the street. Other things to consider is to drop front differential mounts. Other things to consider for this minor lift is dropping the front differential mounts (4x4) and maybe repositioning the sway bar.

That is cool I belive the biggest lift challenge is Kia borrego because it got IFS and Multi link IRS unfortionatly it doesn't have aftermarket lift kit but it is really good relible car and got good towing capacity

I had to go back and pause it to look at that sweet 4Runner. Final Tire Size?? What wheels are those?? Keep the 4Runner videos coming. I have a 3rd Gen...I feel you. I had to fix major engine issues before I did the suspension on mine. Ended up going with Fox 2.0 Coilovers OME Springs, VTX Wheels on 33” BFG Mud Terrain. Looks sweet.
