I need to thank you! I made my first pair of wide leg denim pants. I followed the instructions on the pattern to the best of my ability but it was a disaster! I have ripped and redid the zipper twice and couldn’t get it to work. Your instruction were the best I have found. I have finally succeeded! Thank you so much! I have since used your newer method using a grown on fly! Again, your instruction are the best! Going forward, I will always use this method! I can not thank you enough!

I look at fly zippers and seem to put them in okay but I can't say I could do it without a sample nor do I truly understand how it's done. So simple but such a good idea to place the zipper tab above the top seam so it's not in the way! Great tutorial. Thanks.

The funny thing is that we can’t explain why we prefer one way or the other 😂. Moody sewists lol. I’m happy I found the way that I like after experimenting it all. What makes me queasy is having to clip into seam allowances. Lots of methods have you do that. This one doesn’t 😊. Thanks for watching 🤗.
@kathywilliams10506 жыл бұрын
Very nice technique! After trying several ways according to different patterns, I chose one that worked best for me which is much like yours. Then I used it for cutting out and marking the zipper feature of all the many pairs of trousers I made. One thing I did was to make a card stock template of the pieces with holes punched along marked lines for making guide marks, either taylor tacks or dots with a marker. This has taken the guesswork and stress out of many projects for me. Thanks for so much inspiration--I look forward to your videos. I shall have to try your method on my next pants--it looks very professional.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles6 жыл бұрын
I find that I’m always adapting to the different zippers I have available. I always have zipper issues. Hence, the shield and fly extension vary in length. ThNk you for watching and maybe there’s a step you like. What made me search for different ways is how queasy clipping into seam allowances make me. This way never has you do that and it makes me more comfortable:)

Good morning, that was very clear and you ended up with a perfect fly front. 😀 FYI, I looked at my women's jeans RTW and the fly front is on the left. Since I only have one pair I can't look at different brands, but now I'll have to check it out in stores LOL I don't think I should look at people's zip fronts in public. Just the idea goes me giggles. I haven't made little boys jeans in years so don't remember and I've never made my husband shorts or pants with a fly front.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles6 жыл бұрын
All my jeans have been on the left. Ever since I can remember. Lately people complain about that and about the size of pockets being too small in women’s wear. Frankly, there are more important things to worry about during my days 😊.

Very impressive results! I was always getting a little pucker but sewing the crotch seam after attaching the guard, as you do, has eliminated that issue. Thanks! A question about putting the zipper pull above its final resting point. You said you could always trim a little off the top. Do you have to pull out the metal teeth that go above the waist seam line? And would this work with a nylon zipper? I’ve tried finding where someone has shortened a nylon zipper from the top but haven’t found one.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles6 жыл бұрын
I don’t pull out any teeth. I could but I don’t. I’m just careful when I sew the waistband to get the needle between the teeth.

Hello, I think you are to hard on yourself in the beginning of the video! You said you are self taught but you are AMAZING!!! Most people are watching these videos are watching to learn, so they shouldn't judge your way of doing something!!! I appreciate the people like yourself that put out this educational content! I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering? Were you using a special thread, if so what kind? I didn't see what you ended up doing with your zipper tab. Did you just pull it down and cut off the extra part that was hanging off, and finish the end somehow? Thank you again!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
Zipper tab: I trim it and pull out the excess teeth with pliers. Then I put the waistband over and it’s enclosed and safe. That’s it. Thanks for watching 😊.
