Throat: Light ginger hen hackle
Wing: Mandarin (wood duck) flank
Note: Many recipes from 1918 through the ‘50s specify Mandarin duck, as wood duck feathers were illegal to possess then.

Do you know of any uses for Condor feathers? I believe that they're illegal but I also believe that I own one and I want to tie a single fly with it before donating it to a zoo or a museum or turning it in or whatever I have to do with it.

Aaron, sorry I missed this comment. Yes, the original Borcher's Drake in Michigan used Condor Quills for the body. Here's a link to Tom Deschaine's article: www.michigan-sportsman.com/mscms/fishing-articles/borchers-drake-fly-pattern/ If you fish Michigan at all, tie this up and do some Borcher's Parachutes as well with turkey quill bodies. The Borcher's is a staple on the Ausable near Grayling.
