XxxX 5 Wanna try out that theory again? Both wear same clothes? Both have that limp when Light got shot and was running away. The new shinigami threw an apple to Ryuk having bare memory when Ryuk told light that all shinigamis love apples. Too many connections.. The new Shinigami has these goggles on top of his head and different eyes from other Shinigamis kinda portraying that he never took the eyes deal. And he just came out of nowhere, every shinigami basically knew each other except that one in particular which could very well be Light.

I really, really enjoyed the first story arc of Death Note. However, I thought the second arc was sloppy and the end of Light’s character arc was sudden, awkward, and underwhelming. I still own the manga, but have not opened them in many years. Great content though, thank you and don’t burn yourself out!

SPOILERS AHEAD Death Note and Code Geass are some of my favorite anime, and you can probably infer what types of anime I enjoy just from that statement. I often find myself comparing the two, most notably in the paths they chose to take. Light, upon receiving a godly power, was sent into a downward spiral of insanity, narcissism, manipulation, betrayal, and ultimately ending in his bitter demise, having not achieved his goal in the end. Lelouch on the other hand achieved his goal, even though he gave his life to do so. I like to ask myself,"why?" sometimes. They both had god like abilities, were super geniuses with lots of ambition, and could elegantly execute some of the most insane planning in anime. Lelouch was under fire from the greatest empire in the world, and Light was constantly faced with the greatest geniuses in the world. I feel that Light would have won if he had stayed grounded. The ultimate development of his god complex and arrogant attitude lead to his ultimate demise. Had he planned ahead and not underestimated Near's genius, he could have won the final battle or at least postponed his own defeat. Lelouch stayed grounded and human the whole way through. He manipulated people that cared for and believed in him, stained his hands with the blood of innocents, and earned the hatred of the world, but he recognized that he did. Light believed he could do no wrong and simply could not lose. He wasn't grounded by anything that kept him human, especially past the death of his rival L. Lelouch had countless people that believed in him, and stayed human for his sister. He did all he did so that he could create a world where his sister could smile, and that constant reminder kept him on track to achieving such an ambitious goal. The difference between Light and Lelouch, is that one remained human from start to bittersweet finish.

There’s lots of rules with the death note and IIRC this situation is more or less addressed by people who may have the same name as another. It’s been years since I’ve read the manga, but memory tells me that you have to picture the persons face when you write their name down so you specifically kill that person. Even if you don’t have a middle, last name etc.. whatever you go by is your “full name” in essence. I imagine as long as you can picture the person you could still target them with whatever name they identify by.

This vid has made me vaguely more likely to eventually check out Death Note but lol, now I know pretty much the whole story. The Hunter X Hunter vid on Gon was great but revealing that he does meet with Ging is a massive massive spoiler. Lol, I remember waiting 10 years thinking that he won't find Ging until the end and boom it actually happened. Definitely consider Paranoia Agent, pretty much an entire generation here in America at least have buried memories of a boy with a golden bat and the opening theme with people maniacally laughing. It's interesting how many people I've met over the years who didn't remember it was an actual show but instead just something they miss-remembered. Then there are the many more who remember it but never could figure out the name and then there's others who have never experienced this weird, strangely compelling show.

The problem I've discovered with Death Note specifically is that it really needs all of that context for anything to make sense at all. It's also a much shorter story than any other series I've covered so it's much easier to get an overall picture of it through the main characters >__>

If you think about it, the most brilliant thing to kill Kira in the end, would've be let Light Yagami and Mikami gave back de Death Note do Ryuk and then, the Xkira and the real Kira would be end and dead for ever without the two of them knowing it. Then he doesn't have to kill or arrest Light Yagami and Mikami, with the premise that they was influenced by a supernatural power. I think, it would've be the right way to resolve this case, because Near and Kira was doing what they considered right to humanity, and as long as the game end, there is no point to kill or arrest them.
