Sounds like the MC got sucked into what Sir Terry Pratchett coined L-space in his Discworld novels. Libraries have their own type of magic from the collective power of words found in almost infinite dusty tomes. Wandering too far into the wrong library might lead you to places of nightmares and fever dreams, or you might just run into a very helpful orangutan in a silly hat. He's the Librarian of Unseen University and would likely help you back to your library of origin, just don't call him a monkey.

I spent to many summer days in the library as a kid to be afraid of them. At one point I even considered a career as a librarian. I don't feel one iota of regret for the noisy kids. I would most likely feed unruly noise makers to library entity then offered it tea to wash bad taste out of its mouth. :: wicked grin::

I've honestly not understood this sort of ending, where you say you don't know what happened and you don't want to know. Your friends are gone, with the suggestion being they are still alive and trapped in a book somehow. If it were me, I'd desperately want to know what happened and if my friends could be saved.

Amazing story by TwocanTheRapper! Terrific and terrifying expounding of the all too common library/librarian trope of “shhh”ing and admonishing patrons too loud based on some unknown standard. Lighthouse Horror puts all that amazing storytelling just around the bookshelf as he shows us just how scary a library can be. This certainly helps explain how, though chronically underfunded and always on the brink of closure, libraries endure!! Going to be paying a whole lot more attention to those book titles from now on, that’s for sure!! Thank you both very much!

As a kid, I was always in the library, respecting the books and the quiet atmosphere. I just wish the kids in the library I volunteered in had given ANY amount of care to the books or those wanting to read in there.....Libraries need this creepypasta.
