My Goodness !! what an idea to increase the size of my Beauty dish ....!!!! ... I have got a smaller one ( BD) and already started planning for a bigger one ... cause these beauty dishes are my favorite modifiers ... But after watching this vdo... Voila !!! ... I can use my Portalite as my bigger version of beauty dish ... Great Idea .. Mr. Dewis ...!!! ... its awesome !!! ... Thank you ..!!

Glyn, great tips! just one thing.. the second diffuser inside the soft box is to make even the like in the biggest one, not to make the light more soft. A very important rule in light: big light=soft light.

Great video. I use the white deflector with my Elinchrom maxi-spot light (aka Fireball) which has a silver inside. It's basically a deep throw beauty dish now which can be softened with an additional diffusion sock. It's my Mola Raya alternative!

I was thinking of buying a beauty dish but I'm running out of space to store everything. I have a large octobox already so I may as well buy the deflector set and use that in conjunction.

I notice that there is a plastic knob that screws into the end of the rod to prevent the deflector from slipping off the end of the rod. Is there something in place to prevent the deflector from slipping down the rod in the opposite direction, toward the light? Would the deflector slip down the shaft of an umbrella when the light is pointed down or up? Thanks.

Thanks. I appreciate that as the Elinchrom literature does not mention umbrellas as one of the uses for the deflectors. I hope that the clear reflector along an Elinchrom umbrella shaft will help reduce the hotspot somewhat. Thanks again.

interesting toys. would be good to see some example photos with the reflectors that you mention. there's only so much that could be put into words when photos say a thousand words on their own. thx for the ideas.
