Lightroom Classic vs Luminar Neo

I use Luminar for about 3 years now. I just came back from Chobe in Botswana and Kruger Park South Africa workshops. I was told Lightroom is superior and I should give it a try. I never liked the cumbersome way of "Importing" files in Lightroom, but I downloaded it and tried. After 2 days I cancelled it. I am using DXO for cataloging and removing the noise, then I do everything else in Luminar Neo. Works better in my opinion, and no monthly charges. Just my 2 cents.

I don’t think any software can be described as better than another, because there’s no “one size fits all” program. You’ve found the one that works best for you and that’s all that matters. Luminar has such a different way of working to LR and I’m looking forward to reworking some older images to get a feel for what it can do

Vincent, I think you're speaking just fine, and I suspect that the other commenters simply aren't used to an Irish accent. In fact, that nie fella sounded unhinged in his comment, so probably best to disregard. I like your Luminar edit the best of the two btw, since it's closer to what it seemed to be in real life. Good luck with your channel (and wotht the bird that's determined to get in!).

Thanks for that! I’m enjoying the whole learning process that goes with the new channel and a few negative comments are not going to derail me! The stats are looking good and my video on local adjustments got a nice boost when it was featured by Shutterbug a few days ago, so I’m more than happy with progress so far! I agree with you on the Luminar edit. I’m looking forward to trying it out a bit more….And I think the bird was having some tasty escargots for lunch that day!

First, I want to agree with Ni Mo's comment below, you need to speak more clearly. To the comparison, I am a hobbyist photographer and to me, it seems that Luminar Neo's photo is more natural and less dramatic. The LRc processed photo is a little bit more artistic. I like the better definition of the cloud in the LRc photo but I've been using Luminar Neo for quite sometimes, and you can get the same effect using "Structure" and "detail" section of Luminar.

Luminar looks better only because you overcooked/butchered the Lightroom version.

I agree Gilles. The AI enables more subtle contrast adjustments, and the masking is far better than in LR

I am an amateur, this is just my subjective opinion, nothing more. For me, you're not talking to me or your viewers, but you're muttering to yourself. It looks like someone forced you to comment on what you do at someone's funeral, president's speech or during the holy mass. It is not known why you do this, because you are not clear in your actions to an amateur. Looking at the original photo and the final effects, I have to ask. Do you consider yourself a photographer? In general, all specialists who show their edits of their unfinished photos on KZbin, whether you are photographers or maybe computer graphics. How much do you think your photos are worth without computer processing. As for the evaluation of these two final photos, I have to say, subjectively knowing the original, none of these final photos can be judged keeping in mind the original. It has nothing to do with photography. Interesting fun, but not addictive enough for me to try to imitate you. Can a Yugo be made into a Ferrari? Of course you can, but it will always be Yugo.
