I think the average Christian (at least in America) doesn't like this kind of content, but I think it's really good. It helps us understand how things got so screwed up. And let's face it, NO ONE taught it like Sproul. No one. 👍

The three stages of society according to Comte is kinda funny, because it describes my life in revers. "Theology, Philosophy, Scientism" Comte says. "Scientism, Philosophy, Theology" is how it went for me. Scientism being where I was stuck for the longest, on account of my young age, and secular public schooling. Positive energy replaces prayer to the Creator! I've asked "may I pray for you?" and their answer has been "No thanks, but please send positive energy " Mother Earth or Father God? A ridiculous question because God made the earth everything in it, on it... and the earth can produce, ( or be mother) to nothing. Our triune God made the heavens and the earth and everything that comes from it.

America, and the world, seems to now be fully into logical positivism, following science (which changes with study/discoveries) while ignoring the Author and Great Scientist…God Himself, whom they will never verify empirically unless God calls them or they meet death. I went 13 minutes and that was enough. God have mercy on the person who is searching for a reason to live and stumbles across this video seeking an answer. What is the point of all of this? What is he trying to prove? That he's read a lot of books and discovered some miniscule unknown philosophy from the 18th century that no one else ever heard of? Paul preached Christ and Him crucified. RC Sproul preaches metaphysics vs humanism vs abstract reasoning. Thank God that he made it simple. These two verses say more than RC Sproul could preach in an hour. Eph. 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."

It's not a church sermon. It's a class on this particular subject. There are many other messages on the Ligonier site. It could be that this one IS relevant to someone studying this topic and will point them to Christ. Just because it's over your head does not mean it's of no value. Anti-intellectualism is not a biblical virtue.

The only people Jesus seems to have confused and angered more than others... were all the Pharisees, scholars and scribes. So if all anyone is doing is looking for points with theologians they'll get them. But if you want to win souls and help people to be confident in their salvation... talk the talk of God. Isa. 5:21 "Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight." 1 Corinthians 3:18 "Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise." 1 Corinthians 4:6 "Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. First Corinthians 15:1-4. Galatians 1:6-9. John 3:18. First John 5:13. Calvinism is the devils favorite flower to keep people out of heaven. Calvinist believe God only gives faith to a few so they can believe and be saved. Romans 4:5. But to him that worketh not, but believeth in Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Without His perfect righteousness no one will see God. And the GIFT of God is eternal life to everyone who believes it. Romans 6:23. For the penalty of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. The GIFT of God is eternal life. NOT FAITH, or a reward for good behavior, but a free gift. PAID IN FULL. John 3:18. If you are not saved forever, you are not saved at all. Romans 1:16.
