We often think that God gives us commands through His Word just to control us and subject us to His will without understanding that His commands are simply to protect us from the consequences of sin, waywardness, and rebellion. R C Sproul has given so much historical information that gives improved clarity to to difficult passages within the scriptures. We can’t be dogmatic on our positions on end time events. However it requires constant searching to better understand the Lords perfect plan of redemption.

It's the prayers of the saints keeping the world from expressing the nature of its ruler, the antichrist. Once the church is gone and believers are banished from society, the world will be recreated in the image of satan. Then comes the apocalypse and righteous condemnation of the whole world.

The antichrist doctrine will be accepted by many in the Church. It will allow those who reject Christ to speak from their pulpits, and their television programs. It will claim God did not fulfill all of His promises at Calvary. It claims some people have a relationship with God, based on who their parents would be, because they have another covenant with God. It is a form of Dual Covenant Theology. It ignores what Paul said about genealogies in Titus 3:9. The doctrine will promote a rebuilt temple, and renewed animal sacrifices. It ignores the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which was fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:18-24. He kind of did. Verse 7 says “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.” The Holy Spirit can’t be “out of the way” unless Christians are raptured. There will be no more death, pain or sorrow on earth, Revelation 21:4,5. No more wickedness on earth, Psalms 37:9-11. Luk 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. Just as we are now looking back to the cross of Jesus (as an event in the past), the Pharisees and Sadducees (and actually all the Jews in general) were looking FORWARD to the coming of the Messiah. Given the fact that most of them didn't (and some still don't) believe that Jesus is the Messiah and therefore did/do not accept the free gift of salvation, I think it's fair to say that they were committing apostasy, for Jesus is the fulfilment of the law God had given them. Every sacrifice made i the temple after Christ’s death was an insult to God. When the high priest when into the temple to offer a sacrifice for atonement after Jesus gave His life - that is apostasy and they were without excuse. Another candidate for the restrainer of 2 Thes 2 is Michael the archangel. The thinking is that in Daniel 10, when Daniel was praying, the angel came to him after 3 weeks. He told Daniel that the Prince of the Kingdom of Persia, presumably a demonic entity, had withstood him for 21 days until Michael came to help, and the angel (Gabriel?) was able to come to Daniel for the answer to his prayer. In a partial preterist view, which I believe is the correct view, Nero was recognized as THE antichrist. That’s one mainline Protestant view for centuries. Even as far back as the early church in the first few hundred years. There are Protestants though that hold a futurist view which claims that the antichrist (the beast in revelation) is someone to be revealed at towards the end. Basically, in a partial preterist view, the first 18 chapters of Revelation have already taken place. The last few chapters are still to come. You should watch this whole series. Really informative

God could have destroyed him, but God wants to preserve freewill and does not desire even a perception of injustice. He has let the consequences of evil run its course, so that all beings will see its nature. The word "anti" in antichrist does not mean someone who is going to be openly anti (against) Christ. That word "anti" in the original Bible language can actually mean "IN PLACE OF". So could the bible antichrist be someone who has actually put himself "in place of" Christ? Well, we have further Bible evidence to support this. In 1 John 2:18-19 it says that there were "many antichrists", who "WENT OUT FROM THE CHURCH". In other words, John is pointing to the fact that those "antichrists" were WITHIN THE CHURCH!! Not only that, but Paul in 2 Thess. 2:3-4 calls the man of sin the "son of perdition". Now there is only one other place in the Bible where the name "son of perdition" is used, and that is in John 17:12 talking about JUDAS! And what was Judas? A professing follower of Christ Jesus. Someone who deceived from WITHIN the "church". "The leader of the Catholic church is defined by the faith as the Vicar of Jesus Christ (and is accepted as such by believers). The Pope is considered the man on earth who TAKES THE PLACE of the Second Person of the omnipotent God of the Trinity." (John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, p. 3, 1994). "ANTI" - Christ = "IN PLACE OF" Christ!

Let me share this with you. JESUS CHRIST IS NOT GOD. Sprouls description of the Antichrist is perfectly aligned with the False Jesus in the Church. They originally believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God, and then after joining themselves to others, they are taught that Jesus is God, and are in a fallen away state. It fits perfect. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, not God the Son. We are to worship the Father, yet they worship Jesus. Jesus was sent by the Father, yet they believe Jesus is the Father. The Father is supreme ruler and Creator of heaven and earth, yet they say that Jesus is the Creator. They say Jesus is the LORD . They say Jesus is the Almighty God. God the Son is not the Son of God. Jesus Christ is not the only begotten Son of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is not God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was not sent into the world to reconcile us to Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is not the Father who BEGAT Jesus Christ. The Jesus that the church worships as God, is the image of the Beast. Jesus Christ is the express image of God. Hebrews 1:3 The Jesus that the church worships as God, is a false image of God. God the Son is a representation of the triune god. Therefore, The triune god is the beast ( who can make war with beast,? Who is like unto the beast?) And the Jesus they worship as God, is the image of the beast. I understand your dilemma I would like to offer some idea Could it be that the Antichrist is a spirit. Who enters a human who has no soul.
