One thing about vermouth is that it should be bittered with wormwood. The term vermouth comes from the german word Vermut, which means wormwood. Dolin is a vermouth, and blanc vermouth is a more modern invention meant to be in between dry and sweet. Cocchi Americano and Lillet are fortified aparatif wines, but don't have wormwood so are not technically vermouths. Though in cocktails they all serve a similar role. I never much cared for vespers, but I love a taste test!

If you want to be really technical, the German word is written with a "w", Wermut. Not that it matters much, so don't take this as criticism. I really liked your comment.

@@kail9757 Oh yeah thats right! I was thinking of some bottles of I think Spanish vermouth that are called Vermut, I got mixed up. Cheers!

Cocchi Americano is also my favorite in the Vesper. I keep Sapphire on hand because people ask for it. Im convinced its because of the pretty bottle. The Botanist is king for me rn.

Lillet is my favorite of the three but I’m usually on an island with that. Cocchi tends to be the favorite.

LOL, great review. There’s always controversy on the vesper. I am not a huge Vermouth person. I just recently had the Cocchi and liked it. But I like a sweeter vermouth without a bitter note best, so I might go with Lillet on this one!

as the Place which originated Gin...im saying England here! We have 2 distinct styles London Dry & Plymouth dry. Notwithstanding the pictures of London as portrayed by Hogarth in 1751 by "Gin Lane" which showed London in its Gin-ravaged age. Fast forward to the 21st Century, and we have a wealth of distilleries making Gin, its fast to brew & distill, requires no Age statements, no barrel aging and you just have to dunk in a whole load of botanical. Beefeater, Tanquerey, Bombay Sapphire, Gordon's, Gibleys, Plymouth Gin, Booths, Sipsmith, Hendricks, Martin Millers, Greenalls, Finsbury, Oxford, Drift, Stones, Lord's, and a host of more modern gin Distillers have abounded with their own fans and flavour profiles. Find the few you like and stick with what you like. Be safe & Stay salty

My go to is either Empress Indigo or Rose for a cocktail that really depends on the flavor of the gin, and Plymouth for pretty much anything else.

I was really interested in your comparisons of the “white vermouths” for use in a Vesper which I really like, but in the end your dislike of Bombay Sapphire overwhelmed your results. Too Bad
