Me talking to my Doctor: I want to lose 30 pounds but can't, my joints hurt all the time. I'm winded walking up 1 flight of stairs. My mood swings are off the charts. My entire body itches. My hair is falling out. I have no idea what is wrong with my stomach, with the constant constipation, diarrhea, and i look 7 months pregnant. And i am so exhausted i feel like i weigh 800 pounds and i'm trying to walk through sludge. But i eat 2 salads a day and count all my calories. Doctor: Well, you are getting older and as we age things tend to hurt and your metabolism slows down. Google some exercises. Me: I'm 40. And none of that was any help. I'm 42 now and i haven't even been back to the doctor. I hit a very depressed place in my life where i thought, if it only gets worse from here, i don't want to be here any more. I finally got desperate enough to try the carnivore diet, and I will never ever go back to the salads. I've only lost 20 pounds, but I have lost a total of 4 inches off my waist alone. I have energy, i don't itch, my hair is growing and i have an absolute love for life again. I will eventually incorporate some veggies back into my diet to atleast see how i do, but i will never ever go back to eating the SAD.

Absolutely brilliant! I lost a lot of weight on keto in about a year. Slowly I evolved to carnivore having lost any interest in carbs. I felt energetic and happy ... but then all that went away after three years. My hair continued to get thinner, falling out. I totally lost all energy was sad much of the time, cold. I had stomach issues and suspected Crohns disease while not eating any carbs. After a lot of analysis, I started adding carbs back. It was if my ship was righted. My sleep improved, my hair stopped falling out, my stomach issues improved, and most importantly my energy was on the rise. So I've been hard core keto, very hard core carnivore (always defending it), and now I'm a moderator and intuitive eater. I no long do intermittent fasting on purpose. Sometimes it just happens but I try to have breakfast most days, sometimes eating oats. I hope that everyone looking for their optimal health will keep an open mind. Loved this video!!

Every single corporation values profits before anything else. Even your life. Food companies learned that we get hungry when we require nutrition. Very seldom do we ever require energy. So if they remove the nutrition from the foods by processing them and adding artificial chemicals rather than what is naturally present in the food we will eat much more. And we will eat more frequently. Then they make more money. Pharmaceutical companies and healthcare companies only make money when they treat a disease not when they cure it. Their entire business model revolves around people never getting better. It's in their best interest to work with the food companies to make people sick.

I don't fully agree. I think originally, the processed carbs were created because they are cheap and profitable for a business designed to make money. The rest kind of fell into disastrous place in the lives of westerners. Big pharma naturally reacted to the gluttonous habits of people who inadvertently became addicted to simple carbs, and administered meds to counteract the fallout. Unfortunately, that vicious cycle became the demon that is keeping people on that road to increasing sickness, disease and eventual death, never the wiser that they set up their on demise with the food they couldn't stop eating. Break the cycle, and live! It begins with you.

Always keep in mind we are sugar, starchy carbs, processed food addicts since the age of 2. Then some kind of exercise program. Research, Research, Research…honest self evaluation. I suffered from PCOD from my teens in the seventies. I also was hypoglycemic and saw several endocrinologists with different opinions. I wasn’t overweight because I counted every calorie and exercised a lot but what I ate was all simple carbs. Fat was a big thing to avoid back then and I’m vegetarian so I had irregular periods, extreme PMS among other things. Male Endrocrinologist told me I didn’t have PCO and was just anxious and unhappy. This opinion was repeated by several other male doctors. It wasn’t until I was in my late forties that I read about insulin resistance and PCOS. In my twenties I had a glucose tolerance test and was diagnosed with “ reactive hypoglycemia “ and was told to eat frequently” I read recently that if you eat a lot of sugar then try to stop eating sugar and have strong sugar craving it can be due to your gut microbiome having become dependent on sugar, which I found interesting.

Lillie I have recently become a moderator after decades of being hungry all of the time! Since I was kid I remember going to the neighbors house to eat after having dinner at home. I could never get enough. I fasted in my teens and 20s, tried sooo many diets! Vegan 3 years, low fat, fasting, juice fasting, other popular diets. 5 years ago I started keto then carnivore. This has allowed me to heal numerous diseases! I thought I have to abstain from carbs forever because they caused me to binge. But recently I allowed myself to eat anything I want! And this is so freeing! And because I avoid things that hurt me I am able to just not want them anymore. Like if you burn yourself in a fire you will most likely not touch it again. But I am now able to have a piece of fruit without eating the whole fridge and buying cake after. I think it is because I finally give myself the nutrients that my body needs: protein, fat and micronutrients! ❤ Love your content! By the way my kids love your quirky, sweet, funny videos! Those are the only things I can test at home. Although I have noticed that I am holding a lot of water when I include a small amount of carbs from honey and fruit. So may not be best for weight loss, although water is not true weight loss. I’m not sure yet how I feel about it. But I’m just happy that I no longer feel the desire to binge! And that is a win in my book. So I may cycle the crabs in and out to see if that helps with the water retention.

Great interview. I've been on a food journey for several years. FODMAP saved my life. Food chemistry It's fascinating! I do wish the title was different. I'm guessing it was used as a catch. There's so much more than the fat issue. I'm not offended, but some people are these days using the word fat. I've heard lately that doctors are being frowned upon using the word fat. It's a crazy world these days. Love your backdrop.

I appreciate how well spoken you are, and I really love the fact that you do not advise one diet, and one eating schedule for everyone, and for all time. Most people forget that our bodies attempt to maintain a state of 'dynamic equilibrium'. In other words - we perform a constant balancing act. It is much like riding a bicycle, as one constantly makes adjustments for the condition of the road under the wheels, the direction we need to go, and the wind and traffic around us that may compel us t go in a direction we did not plan to take. For those who are used to riding, we do not even have to think about most of those adjustments. Those of us who have been strict vegetarians for a number of years, may find that a high protein, ketogenic diet helps them to re-establish that balance, and replenish nutrients they have been lacking. How long they may need to maintain such a diet depends on age, activity as well as their sex.

Now it may be in this video that you announce that being on the phone raises cortisol. Well, here's a few suggestions to perhaps lessen that : 1. Lower the brightness of the screen. 2. Cover one eye whenever you can. 3. Have the phone farther away. 4. Try some glasses that block blue light. Or 5. If watching a long video, then try looking at the phone less (as in listen, not look). Yeah, we're addicted to these things, so that's all I got with this one.

There’s so many valid points to this discussion. Family/Friends like she says are sick they try elimination diet but distraction, confusion , weakness or pressure from their significant others cause them to fail . But, as you continue they’re judging turns into ridicule or jokes or fear tactics like your going to die if you don’t eat the foods I eat. Try to tell them it’s just to detox ,healing for a while perhaps will introduce foods later that’s when judgement backs off since they want you to join them in all their eating habits again. 😮 As they become sicker you hope that perhaps they can hear the message. The suffering phase happens slowly and they can’t see. Some can’t separate themselves with their so called comfort food and some won’t ever sacrifice because they don’t believe it’s ‘The FOOD’ that’s killing them. Some don’t know how to connect with their bodies. Like she says the journey is so individual that one way does not fit all. But, the fastest way is go extreme to carnivore then reintroduce food one by one. It’s a better monitor. Especially, if your really sick already.

You know I hadn't thought about there being oxalates in fruit. My daughter came down with sudden fruit allergies first it was just an apple but she could eat cooked apples then it was bananas then it was grapes then it was on down the line to every fruit that she tried and even some vegetables. She would break out in blisters on her mouth and itching in her throat. Of course the doctor tried to say it was just oral allergy syndrome similar to her hay fever which I didn't buy into because I know a lot of people with hay fever when I was growing up and nobody had these food allergies. I had always maintained it was because they're screwing around with the foods a lot of its genetically modified and a lot of its sprayed with pesticides and herbicides and she already has an allergy to petroleum products so if the pesticide is oil-based it would make sense. But now I'm starting to wonder if oxalates are playing a role in this also

When the food pyramid came out and all those carbs were recommended and almost no fat was allowed, alarm bells went off in my head and I knew something was wrong. In the 80's-90s I sent healthy foods to school with my kids. One day I got a note from the school saying my lunches were inappropriate and they even took my kids' lunches and replaced them with what they deemed better, without my permission! Then they even threatened me by saying if I didn't comply to the food pyramid, they would report me to CPS! I went ballistic. Bottom line, my kids got to take the healthy lunches they'd always been taking, and I never got a visit from CPS.

I had always questioned what we were told or told not to eat... i remember evenings as a child being stuck at the dinner table until i finished my brussel sprouts 🤮 Then the whole "no fat/low fat" thing, that made absolutely no sense to me, at all, whatsoever! I was eating all kinds of fat, but never got fat, only strong, so...? I was always what i referred to as a "meatatarian" , lol - mostly meat and carbs, veggies on occasion. I always kind of instinctively knew that, if we were meant to subsist off plants, then they would be available to us in abundance and 365 days/year, but they're not, so why should we be eating them all the time? Just didn't seem right. I do seem to enjoy eating the odd salad in summer (loaded with cheese and bacon, of course!), but just have never been able to get myself to eat one in winter. Well, now that I'm older and learning so much more, i understand why :) We were never plant-eaters, not since we learned to hunt and I will even debate that based on what plant life is available for consumption in the higher (and lower) latitudes during the cold seasons... Like, we don't have multiple stomachs with which we can break down things like dormant brush or tree bark, so how did we get to still be around (not go extinct) unless we were carnivores the whole time? Now, i only eat meat and limit my carb indulgence to about once a week. Typically that's a mac and cheese with half a brick of added cheese and a quarter pound of butter, so not so bad 😁 The other plant stuff? I only eat what grows on my property, and only WHEN it's growing! We have a short window in july or August when the wild blueberries are in season, during which I will stroll through and eat what I can for breakfast, which amounts to about a half a cup as those things are TINY! Funny thing: my elderly father (mid 80's) is now carnivore after having a triple bypass, and I mentioned about being forced to eat my brussel sprouts as a kid... I said, "i wasn't wrong, was I?" "No, no you weren't." 🤣

A different comment said eat single items per meal which is easy carnivore style. Only burgers or steak per sitting. This helps fight craving diversity. It helps digesting because your body only needs to deal with one type at once. The advice to have 3 or 4 things on your plate is not necessary. I did this intuitively in my 20s and could only guess why i felt better doing that.

Something similar happened to me but in a different way. My allergist diagnosed a new set of allergies after I worked in a moldy building one of which was chemical fragrance which included direction to not eat that-it’s not just in toiletries and cleaning products artificial flavor too and can be in natural flavors which is unregulated. Cutting those ingredients meant cutting most processed foods, even supposedly healthy ones. I grew up eating a lot of processed stuff but not exorbitant sugar due to glucose intolerance so I thought I was making healthier choices but not really. I also did remain vulnerable to living in mold which I thought had been the primary inflammatory issue.
