Has Lilly ever “empowered women” without bringing up, comparing us to or putting down men? As someone’s who is strong for women empowerment and rights, that is the exact opposite of what you should be doing.
@danielshore14574 жыл бұрын
Thing is I don't mind shitting on men cause like there are men exactky like feminist describes but it annoys me when they attack them for no reason, like the lily Singh joke shown about international men's day a day that is really about mental health for men and how men are the biggest group effected by it but no one knows cause you know men aren't supposed to have mental illness and she compares this day to toilets and just makes fun of it

I wouldn’t really care but since she’s supposedly so against racism and stereotypes it just comes across as really hypocritical and makes her very unlikable.
@lucassmith18864 жыл бұрын
Exactly. She claims to be "open to all people and their cultures." And yet mocks white people and our culture every chance she gets. You are either completely non judgemental, and don't insult or bash people because of the color of their skin, or you aren't. She clearly isn't. Not to mention even other races she portrays in ways to make them like a caracature. It's insane that this is even allowed on TV honestly in today's world strictly from a "racism" standpoint. I too, don't care. People should be allowed to say whatever they want about whomever. BUT they also don't need to show clear biases and double standards by singling out straight white people, constantly bashing, and teaching the youth of today to resent, hate, and feel some form of entitlement from every white person. This won't last much longer if I am to guess

It’s so annoying when people say “wHiTe PeOpLe HaVe No CuLtUrE” because literally every ethnic group/race/country has a culture. It’s idiotic to say otherwise

5:19 as a jamaican that made no sense which is sad because patois is broken english idek what this is but that was broken beyond understanding.Jamaicans would laugh at this. She really didnt try, it's not okay to stereotype the way we speak. It feels like she's mocking us. I have no problem if someone wants to learn but when you do something like this that didnt even look like you tried and it was for a flex that's disgusting. Jamaicans already get shit from people who say we sound unintelligent, don't use our culture for hype. It is a beautifully spoken dialect dont try to steal it from us and make yourself popular off of it. I bet she didnt even know the origin of how the dialect was created. P.S Listening to Bob marley doesn't make you jamaican.

@@samosas it happens a lot overseas ofc I've seen it in toronto when they'd use jamaican words as "Toronto Slang" to sound cool and I really try not to care even though it makes my ears bleed cause of bad pronunciation it still offends me when they try to do the accent and throw 'mon' into every line since no one speaks like that.

Jamaican is so beautiful. My grandma and mother speak it and I'm sad I can't understand half of what they say lol. Unless you were born there or have actual Jamaican relatives, don't try.

I don't know any Jamaican people so can I ask a question here? What's your opinion about people that make music heavily influenced by the jamaican culture and using patois but actually trying to sound legit, not like speaking gibberish (as we see here)? Like, trying to make their song actually sound good, with serious lyrics, good tracks, you get it, do the genre justice. Does your opinion change depending on whether someone non-Jamaican has lived the culture firsthand because they wanted to experience it or if they actively learnt about it through friends, the internet etc?
@adriannamcintyre58034 жыл бұрын
@@vayermenoviko0linixD making jamaican influenced music is okay I don't think it would do well in Jamaica if that person is not Jamaican, Even chinese people who live or were born in Jamaica for example wouldn't do well because jamaicans are kind of judgemental so if you don't fit the look of a dancehall or reggae artist chances of success is very low. If you look up dancehall artists the successful ones fit a certain look and most that I've commonly heard of. But if they tried to learn patois and they have it down that's ok I don't mind. again I don't think someone not Jamaican or dont fit a certain image could make it very far. I wouldn't recommend being discouraged though anything is possible

@weasleynmunatoti4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought at first this was supposed to be some sort of parody of offensive stereotypes cos it just seems really tacky ? But apparently she just thought she can use Jamaican culture for her own amusement? And her accent sounds really fake, I am not Jamaican but to me that sounds as Jamaican as Apu from the Simpons sounds Indian.
@KourtneeBoo4 жыл бұрын
Julie E the main problem i see a lot of people having (me included) is that she is doing the fake accent and she didn’t credit who she got inspiration from. it can come off that she made that beat and got the idea of a female empowerment dancehall song when that already exists. i get if she was trying to pay homage but it did not come across that way. if she said something like “paying homage to jamaican dancehall and making a song for all the women out there. i tried my best. blasé blasé” then it’d be less negatively received. apparently she likes caribbean/jamaican culture. accent probably shouldn’t have been a thing or she should’ve practiced it more. the accent makes a mockery of jamaican dialect and not creating her inspiration makes the song a rip off. it would’ve made it a lot less disrespectful to people. hopefully that all makes sense.

Madison Kemp the point is she is appropriating a culture outside of her own and claiming it how she she’s fit. When someone steals from your work or ideas, rebrands it, changes a few words here and there & takes it upon themselves to glorify in their pseudo-receiving credit from YOUR hard work, that is called PLAGIARISM. When a group of culturally insecure people steals another culture's styles, music, hair, food, talk style, clothing, alters the name & takes the credit for it, that is called CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. When a group of people steals another group’s history, rewrite it to how they see fit according to their agenda, alter the races of the original people so that they can appear to be “great” whilst degrading, labeling the indigenous as “savages” & then proceed to take the credit for that group’s contributions to civilization, that is called WHITE SUPREMACY. Racial deception is when people imitate another racial group’s physical characteristics, with the sole purpose of attempting to PASS as that racial group. For example, altering the color skin, the shape of noses, the texture of hair, the size of lips & body shape. Sadly only one of these things is punishable by law, yet they’re exactly the same crime…

reverse racism and sexism was kind of popular back in the early 2010s. a lot of big comedians have done those sort of jokes and honestly, not looking at how damaging they could be, it was genuinely funny back in the day. i do not blame lilly for that phase since there was a large enough demographic to encourage her to do more. but, as time goes on, our taste in everything changes. while her audience had changed, her demographic is still the same: young teens. we see the affect and problematic nature of those jokes today, but that wasn't the case a decade ago. while social media can educate her on why she needs to grow up, she gets way too much hate already and honestly, it's probably better for her mental health to stay off it. she needs to grow up, but i don't think she knows how.

I'm a Jamaican. This is so bizzare cus this is a VERY renowned dancehall song from the early 2000s I grew up with. Her weird voice that she's doing is so BAD. I don't feel offended , but why she didn't just sing it in normal American English ? Imagine I sang an iconic American song like MJ's Thriller in Jamaican dialect. This is so weird. She needs to go back to being poor and normal🤣 Edit: I was having trouble putting it in words but I think culturally it's awkward to hear that song reworked and changed by someone who isn't from Jamaica or understand that "Bad man " originally means a male from the ghetto slums and that there's a deep and interesting complicated subculture and history behind that but Lily seems to think it just means some dumb patriarchy thing. Yeah thats why it's weird.

Actually, given that you're native accent is Jamaican and you sing Thriller with that accent, it would be fine, because that's your original accent. Also, if you sing it in an American accent, and it's as trash as Lilly's Jamaican accent, then you should be rekt.

When lilly tries to make a song for "girls" Beyoncé: (Makes a song about girls running the world) am i a joke to you?
@idiotwhodoesthings4 жыл бұрын
Galaxy Prince difference being that beyoncé has been a huge inspiration for various groups of women since her rise to fame. she didn’t come to fame by tearing everyone else down aside from people of her gender or race. i don’t even really like beyoncé or her music, but she’s way more respectable than lilly, who is an absolute joke to her own cause

Nils Sjöberg no it’s not, it is just the same stuff repeated over and over. I’m judging it from a musical perspective, not political. There’s nothing special about it, just the same regurgitated shit as a lot of other pop artists spurt out. It’s made for putting a message across and making money from it, not because Beyoncé thought it was a musical masterpiece that she was proud of.
