Harold Habitat is well done but let's face it the people are weird in an Eraserhead way. I'm too old now to feel weird sick and pretend it's cool. I'm going to play Fortnite and lose to some 4 year olds but at least it has pretty colours.

Well, it makes a stream meaningful if anything, it's an additional layer to it, one that can work as a short clip here.. Otherwise you're absolutely braindead if you tune in to watch someone play a game.

The staging and blocking are fantastic. Shot, reverse shot, shot reverse shot. Static image. Shot, reverse shot. Not trying to be too big a dick here but why do all interactive movies refuse to use the VISUAL parts of film. Especially when all they do is obsess over making everything "cinematic". Im tired of hearing characters talk to themselves about talking to other people? You could at least trust me to do that much right? I still wanna play this but dear lord naughty dog and walking sims heralded a horrible precedent for what story in games should be.
@AdamGiaIsMetal7 ай бұрын
Man you are so right. I dream of the day this type of shit is passé in video game storytelling. You can convey so much more story through just the environment then with this type of character dialogue/interaction.
@DustyRagu7 ай бұрын
@@AdamGiaIsMetal exactly, through gameplay, the environment, hell even item descriptions as souls games have shown. its just so strange they never make characters move while talking or have them do anything at all, instead they just stand in front of each other like in this. at least naughty dog and metal gear go full on film and have their actors move around and do things. not a fan of copying movies in games but at least they understand movies better than stuff like this does.

Every voice in this game washed over me and I retained nothing. People and a world I didn’t want to be in or with. For me, thats a bad way to start a game. Every voice and piece of dialogue was like an ironic take on what voices and dialogue should not be.

@@librarygary1618 they are not mutually exclusive. Reading the reactions to the KCD2 announcement l learned that one of my favorite things about the game (playing on hardcore without map markers and HUD, getting lost in the environment and trying to find a way to your objective by locating the geographic landmarks on the map) was apparently one of the most hated features that people want to see “fixed” in the sequel. Video games as a medium and specific genres in particular have been very stale for a while now. Same LMB spam/combat roll action, same “random Tolkien generator” lore (DD, DS, ER, Sekiro). There are only a handful of upcoming games trying to push the envelope (Manor Lords - RTS realism, Unrecord - FPS immersion).
