This comment is all because your other video " all of america looks like the back" randomly popped up on my feed. I had to go through your channel on here and twitch just to find this video so I could figure out why you were looking around my home town 🤣 watched the whole video and at one point you were less than a block away from my house going off about the stairs to the roof lol If you ever want a tour of alamosa irl I'd be glad to show you around we don't have much to show off but it's our little happy slice of nowhere. And now Im a subscriber to your channel 🤣

What's the best thing to do in Alomosa?
@WrongHand93
@WrongHand93 Жыл бұрын
@deadforever depends on what you're interested in doing, really. As a local, my first thought is that the best thing to do is leave 🤣 it's a smallish town in the middle of a valley, plenty of restaurants and bars if thats your thing, a nice section of the rio grande running through if you like fishing, dirt trails everywhere for those who like to walk and bike, and mountains are roughly and hour away east or west. the sand dunes are always a cool spot to check out. Other than that, there's not much to do here if you need things or places to keep you occupied.

urban sprawl, in the USA where land is relatively available and affordable, always cheaper to built outwards instead of upwards. Another reason for their awful public transport outside of NYC etc.

I guarantee you that its a wrap around porch, or "veranda." You can't see the other side of the house from the photo, but I'm 100 percent sure it wraps around to the back of the house, where there would probably be a sliding glass door that leads to the master bedroom or something like that. In America some homes have a back porch on the second story as well. But not to a window. If you look really closely you'll see that the railing looks.like it continues around the side of the house you can't see

@@acksawblack Most of Colorado is a literal desert, maybe that's why everything is sun bleached. 100-something years ago it was the Wild West, nothing but Indians and cowboys, not exactly a major British industrial center like Glasgow. It's why it looks so similar to rural Australia, just a frontier town in a desert.
@acksawblack
@acksawblack Жыл бұрын
@@MihaiRUdeRO yeah no i get that the climates different just that covering everything in concrete isn’t the solution. Desert/taiga/plains don’t get sun bleached concrete does. Look much nicer if either still had the old style streets that are narrower or if they left more space open to the natural environment. Just feels a waste with such diverse climate and biodiversity in America that everywhere has the exact same 6 lane roads and concrete square buildings
@MihaiRUdeRO
@MihaiRUdeRO Жыл бұрын
@@acksawblack I don't think a single building in that town was concrete. It's all wood-frame buildings (again, wild west, plentiful wood everywhere) with brick / stucco facades. The only concrete was in the roads and parking lots. And yes, that does get sun bleached, but the reason they use concrete in roads in North America as opposed to asphalt is due to concrete withstanding severe temperature fluctuations and weathering better.
