Wes Borland is unique and irreplaceable, his style is the LB sound we associate with the band. That being said, Mike Smith did an awesome job filling in for those years Wes was gone. The Sanitarium cover during the Metallica MTV Icons show was amazing and Mike takes all the credit for it IMO.

It is a wonderful way to illustrate that even our worst behaviors/ideals can come from a place is objectively honest and good - "I just want to look at you, oooooo all day. There ain't nothing wrong. No. There ain't nothing wrong with that. Once you seep in, under my skin, there's nothing in this world that could wash you away.". That's musical talent and, more importantly, an ability to communicate clearly through their music.
