When I was 15 years old, I was laying in a bathtub ready to end my life.... I had a radio playing on the sink counter, one of those old school ones with the long antenna sticking up LOL, playing on the only rock station for El Paso Texas....95.5 klaq... I had already been a huge fan of System of a down, but sitting there in that moment, when I heard the DJ announce "and here's the newest song from System of a down, byob" come on, I stopped what I was doing, and decided I wanted to hear it, and after decided i wanted to hear it again, which back in the day meant waiting through the rotation... I really love to believe sometimes, that music saved my life, and hope it does the same for others...... For reference, I am 34 now, with children of my own, living a pretty good life ❤️ raising my little metal punk kids who are totally respectful menaces to society LMFAO😂😂😂😂 thank you for your time if you've read this, and remember, all feelings are temporary!!!!

democrasy shit. a lot of "self-righteous" kings of the dark ages lie on ground with his peasant soldiers but our democrat leaders of "the people" are too important for to die in a battleground. i think if the kings had oppurnity of sending kids to school after their 5 age, they'll think either monarchy is the best goverment type for human honour. but we're living in republics so we think republics are best.

Exactly. They won’t even let their family sign up for anything. Nothing. If there is a draft, guess who’s not a citizen here but are in Barbados or some other exotic place. They use dog whistle words like us and freedom and respect and we are better. Everyone wants to come to 😮America. We are just a fancy lie dressed in a beautiful facade with a silver tongue. Actually they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. Some just come out and say it like jfk speaking of secret governments that are the ones calling the shots. It’s collapsing though and that scares me because we don’t even belong to ourselves. The autonomy they promised, was sold ages ago. Smh 😔

Let us see you have bombs dropped on your house for months and check your attitude. Maaaan this song brings back memories. Coming home from school, jumping on the couch, switching to MTV and praying Head Banger's Ball was on! And if if was, you could guarantee this song and other SOAD hits would make an appearance. How I got into this music as a kid (back when MTV actually played music...flipping between then and VH1 if I was desperate haha)

[Verse 1: Serj Tankian] Barbarisms by Barbaras with pointed heels Victorious victories kneel for brand new spanking deals Marching forward, hypocritic and hypnotic computers You depend on our protection, yet you feed us lies from the table cloth [Chorus: Serj Tankian] La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, ooh-ooh Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine [Verse 2: Serj Tankian] Kneeling roses disappearing into Moses' dry mouth Breaking into Fort Knox, stealing our intentions Hangars sitting dripped in oil, crying, "Freedom" Handed to obsoletion, still, you feed us lies from the table cloth [Chorus: Serj Tankian with Daron Malakian] La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, ooh-ooh Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine [Bridge: Daron Malakian] Blast off, it's party time And we don't live in a fascist nation Blast off, it's party time And where the fuck are you? We eliminated ISIS, rapidly, and got out of Iraq. We've effectively ended the war in Afghanistan by reducing our troop presence to 2,500 "just in case" guys, we prevented a war with Syria, deflected from what looked like an inevitable war with Iran, kept peace with Russia despite many dicey situations, and avoided potential war with Korea with diplomacy. This song gives you much needed breaks in between the intensity of the heavy guitar riffs and pulsating drums. Then at one point when you feel almost relieved because you think the song is over, it explodes back to life and shoves the controlled chaos right down your throat again against your will and you can't help but love every second of it. People are calling this song a "Masterpiece" and I have to agree.

Back in the 1900’s B.Y.O.B meant “Bring your own beer.” People often used this term (B.Y.O.B) for partying. But in this instance it means “Bring your own bombs.”

I get that metal isn’t for everyone, but soad is by far on of the best bands out there imo. The worst part about listening to them is realizing that there’s no other band like them

I'm one of those who would swear on a stack the "metal isn't for me". So I justified liking System of a Down by just not thinking of them as metal. For the longest, I thought of them as some sort of 'neo-punk' or 'hard alternative'. Yeah, I was good at fooling mysrlf. Anyway, a rose by another name....

Lol, not really at all, look at the GH chart and then tab on Songsterr side by side. Playing this song on real guitar is a lot easier than it is on guitar hero. Anyone can sit down and play a song on guitar with a tab, just like anyone can sit down and play it on GH, GH will take longer though.
@423gera
@423gera 9 жыл бұрын
Slaytallica You've never played guitar before right? If you think that you can play perfectly a song the first time you read the tab then ,my friend, you are really dumb. Playing guitar is not as easy as you think dude... P.s. I never said it was difficult, if you read my comment you'll notice I said: It's a whole new world not It's super difficult.

423gera hey no need for name calling, ive actually heard someone say GH is harder than real guitar, & I know some one who feels the real guitar is harder. Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks i guess..So ur both right.either way, the song is not very easy to play I would think, so let's just agree to disagree..& enjoy the video

Damn I loved this song as a teen and never realized what it meant. Exactly like the movie they live. Showing what those in power want us to do (partying, ignorance, trust in government) and the messages they constantly feed us (obey, die, buy) vs their true intentions. Visionaries and truthers ahead of their time!

The chorus is so sardonic. I love how the final one is literally SLASHED by the "Where the f*ck are you???", they are literally trying to get people out of their trance, and this is reflected in the song's structure. Masterpiece.
