On a more serious note it probably got cut because it might have made some of the execs uncomfortable, either LiMu's execs or NBCs or both. I guess releasing it on KZbin might have been a compromise since LiMu ads are seen primarily on TV and they didn't want the risk of this being confused with a real ad by viewers.

They have a general idea of the run time of a sketch, especially after the taped run-through, but you can't be short and left with empty space; they always have more material in case they need it. Do you not watch SNL consistently? Because sometimes that happens. Sometimes there's a sketch or two that gets cut for time because the show runs long or the audience didn't think it was good enough to air after dress rehearsal. At least we live in a time where the dress rehearsal sketches can be uploaded alongside the sketches that did make it to air. And Shane Gillis here (and on the Trump magic sneaker sketch) looks like John Candy, which makes me want to watch SCTV. At least people don't complain about the show's quality there like they do here.

Sadly, they always do that. They used to do it with those great Kyle & Beck skits too.. SNL hates humor and have a history of firing the funniest people... a souffle had to miraculously rise twice just to get Shane on the program. I would say 'what a joke', but that'd be giving SNL too much credit. Shane's appearance punctuated just how weak SNL usually is.. I didn't skip a single skit last night, between this, Jamaican church, trump shoes and the game show it was the first episode that felt like classic old school SNL in many, many years.

Took me back to SCTV days. This was exactly the sort of sketch that John Candy loved to write/perform. And Gillis was a dead ringer for Candy here.
@jamescarter31969 ай бұрын
WTF are you talking about? There is nothing SCTV-like about this, and saying this is like John Candy's material is just absolute laughable bullshit. Nothing like John Candy here whatsoever. If you knew anything about John you'd already know he didn't really write anything either.

@@jamescarter3196 - I’m gonna assume you’re joking. He LOOKS like Candy in this sketch (look at the thumbnail photo for this video), the sketch has the dark irony that was characteristic of so many SCTV sketches, and Candy and the ensemble (actors and writers) wrote EVERYTHING. The actors brought most of the characters to the writers table, and the writers brought many of the storylines for those characters, but the stories tended to be fleshed out as a group. Curious … if you’re NOT joking, why the peaked anger? (let alone the incorrectness) Also - SNL cut this sketch before airing. WTF? The funniest of the sketches gets chopped?!?!

I don’t know why I keep watching this sketch and laughing my ass off: the hardboiled cop drama, the puppet, or the six months of Insurance Company Cinematic Universes i watched this past football season.

They don't need to approve it, it's satire. I'm sure the marketing department at Liberty Mutual loved the sketch anyway
