Hands-down the most versatile singer man or woman we’ve ever had. If you want to have your socks knocked off listen to Linda Ronstadt singing “la Charreda” off of her Mexican album and that is also a live video and you will die that it’s live

For those of us who have appreciated Linda’s musical mastery for over 50 years it’s a bit sacrilegious to say she “dibbled and dabbled” in various genres

Thanks, Dylan - she is astonishing, right? and also I love how "casual" she is... just jeans & a tank top... no screaming or straining or posing.. just perfect pitch!

You are soooo spot on in your analysis and YES we need to bring back ALL the greats to the younger generations. The new generations NEED real music and entertainers as a guide. These days you only have to play or sing 3 notes.

THE pride of Tucson Arizona. They just recently re-named a large music venue after her. One of the best in the business for years. And "the Eagles" band formed from her touring mates.

Linda Ronstadt is a singer's singer. She could sing anything. she was one of the few who knew how to use dynamics from soft to loud, vocal range low to high and was about the song, not the opera diva garbage, like "Oh, look what I can do with my voice". she was about the music and the song and how to treat it just right. she hold back here musically until chorus, and wait until the end to use that high note. Musically kills it emotionally too. Live... Then she takes you down there again on the 2nd verse, so she has somewhere to come from go to. it;s not necessary to scream through an entire like so many do and bore the hell out of me. Your points about no dancers, and bring back the unplugged MTV are so true. "interpreter" is the most excellent word here...where ARE the interpreters? Looking at themselves in the mirror? No...You dropped some pretty classy names here too...

Thomas, I couldn’t have said it better. It’s very refreshing to see a comment from someone who appreciates Linda Ronstadt as much as I do. I absolutely adore her entire catalogue and I watch her live performances whenever I can find them. She worked extremely hard to perfect her beautiful instrument. It bothers me when people refer to her voice as “God given”! I’m sure there was some natural talent but she worked and learned and practiced endlessly with great joy. Take care. 🌺✌️

You're absolutely right about Linda receiving awards in various genres. She's been nominated in 8 different genres for a Grammy and took home 5 of them. A feat that no other artist has come close to matching. She even has a Tony & Golden Globe nomination for her roles in Pirates of Penzance from Broadway and the movie. Blue Bayou initially was a rock/pop ballad. In the late sixties and early 70s there was a number of musicians experimenting with rock songs played with country sounds. If a group photo of those pioneering what became known as country/rock Linda would have been front center. It's fitting that you mentioned Lee Ann Rhimes since Lee Ann claims Linda as one of her influences.
