Thanks for posting! I saw him in 79 at the SF Cow Palace and '83, the Juggernaught tour. The "coolest" guitarist :D

I still have the California Jam album that he was on. He played Johnny B Goode and King Bee, if I remember correctly.

As the story goes, one day Frank influenced by hendrix picked up a guitar and immediatly was able to play... He later sought out Jimi's dad and played one of jimi's guitars at his dads house completing the transformation into guitar god!

I saw a video of Frank on the Midnight Special (it's here on KZbin) doing I'm a King Bee / Back Door Man. Frank's finger's started flying on his left hand and the camera switched to his right hand (picking hand). What were they afraid we would see? That Frank Marino was superior to all that came before him? Thanks to the internet and youtube, the secret is out...

Frank, Jimi's Prodigy? I didn't know they met. In his early work Frank sure does pay homage to Jimi in many songs. Sure I know of Ernie Isley's work, he's great! Frank was way ahead of the game at a much earlier age though...

this was recorded in 1979 way before purple rain was recorded. Frank Marino released his first album Maxoom in 1973 and started recording it when he was still 16 years old. I doubt Frank Marino was influenced by prince and the timeline makes it impossible, price may have been influenced by Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush though...

Frank during his Prime! Thank you so much for posting these shows. I have the new DVD and it may be technically more superior but does not have near the energy of these performances. Bass player seems like he is bored on the new live DVD.
