The difficulty of the Arabic language is 1- Pronunciation 2-Grammar 3-Hand writing in addition to that, the Arabic language in literature different of the dialect language and some times one word can be manipulated to different meaning if you change diacritical or accent mark or accent point. Example :- شجن سجن How many letters in this word ? only 3 letters ش ج ن in the first word and س ج ن in the second word but 3 points (Nukta) removed and the meaning has been changed ) an other example the same second word سجن it could be a a name or verb with the same forming letters Sajana سجن sijin سجن note that word did changed as formation but the meaning has changed the first became a verb ( imprisoned in past tense ) and the second became a name ( jail or prison) and the pronunciation is the important part in this language , if there is a little changing in accent , it will leads a little change in meaning . By the way , the Arabic language written in book and Quran is different of the common dialect. The Jordan has their accent , Egyptian too , Tunisian and Iraqi , and so on, but we all can understand each other in despite of the different accents .

Many muslims in my remote part of the world,here in South East Asia can read the arabic script because we learn it to read the quran. But reading is one thing and understanding it is another. Yes we can read like the Arab but the majority don't understand what it says. Many read because it sounds beautiful and satisfying to the ears. Plus it's obligatory to read the quran too.

Arabic is sooooo wonderful language , you will never be bored because every word has 1000 words with same meaning , well of course it's not 1000 😂 but it has many words with same meaning .. Also if anyone wants to learn or practise Arabic he /she should watch Arabic cartoons , it's much fun and learning at same time ... If you learn fus-ha you will learn other slang language easy because all of them came from same root which is Fus-ha .. 😊

@rashidah93073 жыл бұрын
This is not the best strategy, although many Arabs believe this to be true for some reason. I think it has to do with a mindset that the dialects are inferior to Fusha or just slang. But the dialects are the heart languages of Arab people and it is through dialect that you can connect with people in meaningful ways, which is why most people study languages. The best strategy, I think, is to choose a dialect that is widely understood by Arabs or choose the dialect that is most useful to you in your context. I'm learning Jordanian Arabic, and my Arab friends from all over the Muslim world can understand me. Salaam

@gabrieldesmarais33945 жыл бұрын
@@allroundlad Right to left reading is the easiest part for me. Honestly the hardest part is the pronounciation. Also, if find it so nice that you have only 4 verb tense compared to our 24 in french. I just started learning arabic and I find the difference between this language and mine is fascinating. Also, learning a language is not hard if someone is interested in learning it. I hope that in a year or two I will be able, not only to read, but to understand it's poetry. And, in three years, maybe i'll write some like I wrote some in French and English. Hi Lindsay ! Thanks for this interesting videos. A few comments from an experienced Arabic learning that I am: 1) It is not precise enough to say that there is no verb "to be" in Arabic > it is only for the present tense, the verb "kaana" is used for the past and the future tenses! 2) 5:42 "damma" does not dubble the letter it is the vowel "u" what dubbles the letter is the chadda ! What I love the most about Arabic is how romantic it can be when it comes to describing love. There are 12 synonyms to describe the different stages of love. E.g Shaghaf is the first stage of love, it indicates that you are in the early stages of falling in love, but not completely there yet . The last stage is when someone has the Hoyam, which can be paraphrased (not translated) into this ; is when a lover is too in love, he surrenders everything to his beloved one, he becomes sick, doesn't want to go on in life without him/ her, always needing her next to him, refusing everything, and almost becoming crazy without her/ him

I just bought the Glossika Egyptian Arabic course during their annual sale, but I'm saving it for later. My plan is to take a language which is unrelated to any I've already studied, study a lot of sentences, and see if I can pick out the grammar rules without being taught them. I tried this last year with Indonesian, but Indonesian grammar turned out to be so easy that any method would work for learning Indonesian grammar. So I decided to try the experiment again with Arabic, maybe in a year or two. Thanks for the video. It was fun to watch.

When I start Egyptian Arabic, maybe I will. As I said above, I'll probably wait a year or two before I study it. Thanks for the offer of help, though!

Andy Roberts Egyptian Arabic? Do you mean the Egyptian dialect? Because Standard Arabic ( Al- fusha) is the same in all Arab countries. However, each country does have its own dialect(s) and accents which are often very different in terms of lexis and grammar from Standard Arabic. Personally, i don't think learning Egyptian dialect is a great decision, for it lacks consistent grammar rules( like most local dialects) which you're planning to deduce through your time consuming trial and error learning method. Also, it is so accented that you might not be able to communicate with other Arabs. However, if you learned Modern Standard Arabic, you'd master the language faster, and more importantly, most Arabs ( no matter what their dialects are) would understand you. It's true that Al-fusha is not a conversational language but still it allows you get the gist of the conversation in most Arabic dialects. Anyhow, good luck in your endeavours =)
@andymounthood6 жыл бұрын
The phrase "the Egyptian dialect of the Arabic language" is too long a phrase, so most Westerners simply say "Egyptian Arabic" or "Moroccan Arabic" or whatever. Naturally, you understood me, as everybody does. So I'll continue with the Western convention: It's concise and easy to understand. You brought up a good point: Because Modern Standard Arabic has a more consistent grammar, it's better suited for deducing grammar, as per my experiment. However, I like the sound of Egyptian Arabic, and the sound of the language (or dialect) is one of my motivations for putting in the time to study it. But whatever I end up studying when the time comes, I will probably only dabble in it. My main focus is on East Asian languages because I live on the US West Coast, and they (especially Japanese) require a lot of my time! So it will be just an experiment, not a serious study of the language. As such, whether I study MSA or a dialect, I will probably only do so for a few months. Thank you for your advice and encouragement, Amira. You reminded me of a good reason to choose MSA. However, I already bought the Glossika course for Egyptian Arabic. If I choose MSA, I'll have to select a different source for example sentences or I'll have to pay $30 per month for a Glossika subscription, as Glossika has switched to a subscription service. Thanks again for your advice.

Fus-ha is understandable by all Arabs, dialects are very similar to each other. It's just some loan words and sometimes a change in letters. plus dialects are fun to learn and many are famous such as the Egyptian dialect that every Arab knows because of many reasons.

a VERY nice vidéo, as an arabic speaker i really commend you for the efforts you made, and your pronounciation is GREAT, just one remark: on 5:40 you said "damma" doubles any consonnant. it's actually not "damma", it's "chadda" that doubles the consonnant (it looks like a horizontal 3 ) the "damma" is an "O" .. for example .. a damma on an M is pronounced MO .. and on a B is pronounced BO ... and so on. enjoy learning arabic :)
