I think the reason why was because of the Fairlight synthesizer which was a BIG deal at the time. It was the first sampling keyboard that came out in the early 80's and they were VERY expensive. This song brings me right back to my childhood!!! I was a kid in the 80s and imo the best decade to be a kid!!!! Back in the 80s summer vacations involved at times long rides WITHOUT any cell phones or any type of social media...you had to endure the ride with what you could!!! If you had a walkman you were golden...even though we had less technology I would not change my childhood of the 80s for what these kids have today...no way!!! Give me a BMX bike over tik tok any day!!!! Plus for anyone that lived through the 80s this song instantly brings back scenes from National Lampoons Vacation 😂😂👍
