1941 Caterpillar D2 Chipping Wood Jan 2022

A major milestone reached with the completion of the 3-point transporter for my PTO wood chipper. This allows the chipper to be powered and transported by the Caterpillar D2. Another step back from the epic mower PTO drive line failure of 2020.
As indicated in the Lineshaft Restorations channel description, the goal is to leave suburbia and go rural. This machinery combination will aid that process currently underway.
This video is primarily of running some juniperus-virginiana (cedar) branches through the chipper. Screened and dried the chips could possibly be used in a pellet stove.

Very clever!!! Have you ever seen a D2 that doesn't have the fuel tank dented? Neither have I. Hope your move happens!

Chipper specs say 8". 3" is largest tried so far.

I’ve seen some after market three points setups for D2. Did you look into that option or would the chipper be too much weight on the back.

I did some looking around for 3-point stuff and only found some pictures of one for a d4. The parts manual shows a cam lift mechanism that runs off the pto drive but you lose the drive capability.

Was the PTO repaired and added back after the mower event or was a whole new PTO shaft, cover, and lever put on?

It was repaired. The shaft was straightened but the slight twist could not be removed. A little was machined off of the splines so the shaft coupling would slide on. Check the D2 play list for the video.

@@lineshaftrestorations7903 I did see the repair, I guess the newer paint threw me off and the need to attach the engagement lever.
