The funny thing is, if Marvel wanted to spite Fox they could've used this guy as an excuse to at least get the Human Torch into the MCU, kinda like how they found a loophole to get Quicksilver.

I doubt that. Quicksilver isn't a name you can trademark on its own, just if you create a fancy logo. Also, Quicksilver is licensed in both the X-Men and Avengers franchises. I doubt very much the Human Torches are likewise split in the licensing agreement.

Does anyone really want a movie about this guy? There are over a thousand characters and only a couple dozen will get their own movie. I can't see this guy as a priority, especially when they couldn't even get a Johnny Storm solo series off the ground. ... But then again Sony thinks people want a Morbius movie.

When you think about it, it's incredibly fitting for Human Torch to be the first superhero of Marvel. In MU, this was public's first encounter with the supernatural: Screaming in terror at the man on fire. And for the second one to be an neurotic half-naked asshole.

If you think about it, considering that the Human Torch burns without any kind of fuel being used, (the skin appearing unscathed and therefore impossible to have been the fuel supports this), the Scientist did kind of make the greatest discovery ever. Whether that be a fuel that will never run out when on fire or perhaps even fusion or fission considering the radiation thing. That’s revolutionary since it basically means a source which could be used to fuel power stations forever without needing to be replaced.

The original Torch actually made a very brief appearance in 'Captain America: The First Avenger' during the Stark Expo. You know the original Human Torch could actually have been a good character for a TV spin-off like 'Agent Carter'. Wake him up from the glass tube and have him fight the remnants of HYDRA and other enemies, trying to fill the void left in Cap's 'death'.

There’s a much more recent comic where the Torch speculates that Horton actually wanted him to burn, to be a weapon against the Nazis. Good, informative video! One note, though. I think it’s a little ungenuine to say to say that Johnny Storm was the more popular of the two. His solo book lasted only a few years and is widely considered the weakest of the ongoing 60s Marvel titles. People who bought the FF did so was Ben Grimm, the villains, and the Kirby concepts. Replace Iceman with Johnny and I don’t think it misses a beat. The OG Torch had the lead feature for all 92 issues of Marvel Mystery, was the only character besides Cap to have a long running series named after him, and was the second most popular character Timely had in the Golden Age. His premise is way more fascinating and identifiable and it’s time everyone gives him, as well as Burgos, the admiration and attention they deserve.

"Liquidar" might be "Liquid AR", or liquid Argon gas. Argon is a gas like Helium or Neon, totally chemically inert, so It is used as a shielding gas for arc welding. Like helium, it is stored pressured to a liquid. And the reason the nitrogen gas puts out the flame is, well, for the same reason. Mostly chemically inert, it essentially starves the flames of oxygen to react with.

Based on a few quick Google searches: Depending on composition, glass melts around 1400-1600° Celsius, or around 2500-2900° Fahrenheit. Steel melts at around 1370°C, again around 2500°F, so in the same ballpark as the lower-end glass (albeit about 50°F lower). If the Torch can so easily melt steel, then he probably would've melted the lower-end glass. However, one could assume that Professor Horton knew this, and so used glass of higher melting point for the tube, thus preventing it from melting in the short time HT was on fire.

I first heard about this guy when I read Marvels. In there, the scientist had the Torch listen to tapes so he could hear about the outside world while underground. I guess racketeering was part of the lessons? XP

Also, if he burts into flames when in contact with air, that makes it a chemical fire, which means the firefighters were lucky that he didn't erupt into a massive fireball

For some reason all I could think about was the unintentional unfortunate imagery with the phone line on fire at 7:33... But anyhow, amazing video as usual! ^_^

If the human torch is so hot, why is his fire red? That the least hot fire. This is like Dracula going into the science of lifesaving blood transfusions only for the discovery of different blood types a few years later

Awesome job on the new Secret Origins Month logo, and I agree that KZbin should shove their content ID right back up their ass. 3:55- COMEDY! HORROR! SCIENCE FICTION! 6:03- I was also thinking about Neutro. Just pray that Doctor Insano doesn't create his own version of The Human Torch. 8:52- I know I should be offended, because this is a 9/11 joke......but you pulled that off really damn well. 15:11- And what he does best is pretty nice for people like me.

One interesting thing about John Hammond: in Marvel Canon, he personally killed Adolf Hitler at the end of WWII.

"Best in the world at what he does"? Chris Jericho? Didn't realize he was old enough to have a Bronze Age Comic. 😉😂 Just kidding, couldn't resist. But seriously, looking forward to it.

OMG the Vision thing was SO freaking convoluted. _Avengers Forever_ was basically "ok, look, some of this crap just didn't make sense. We know it didn't make sense. So here's this magical device that makes stuff which doesn't make sense...make sense." Also, fun trivia bit: OG Torch appeared in a scene in _Captain America: The First Avenger_
