Thank you so much Vanessa! Very impressive! I was shocked to realized that my LinkedIn profile needed a total makeover, starting off with updating my last position. Each of your tips are so easily executable. I anticipate results right away for those of us who follow the call to action. I used to be the editor for the Accounting site at Bella Online. I wrote about Forensic Accounting, fraud prevention, human trafficking, etc. I invested many, many hours, and never posted them anywhere else depriving others who could have benefited from my well thought content. So I will start now! gathering my posts and articles and sharing them following your invaluable best practices. Will keep you posted on how my renewed approach enhances my presence in LinkedIn. I am so thankful I found your video!

I personally believe that having a custom background image on LinkedIn is key for STANDING OUT 😊Just a quick note here - when designing your cover photos, keep in mind that the placement of your profile picture changes on mobile & desktop, so you’ll want to make sure that none of the important information on your LinkedIn banner (such as call-to-actions, contact details) get hidden by your profile picture 😉

I love the idea of strategic likes and posts! If someone is looking for a job in another industry, posting insights about that industry regularly would build credibility in that area. Great idea! I really enjoyed this video, lots of good ideas. Thanks for sharing!

Vanessa, these were great tips some of which were new to me. For example, I was aware of the People also Viewed, but NEVER thought to leverage it the way you described. I was impressed with who was listed, including someone who I've been wanting to connect with for an opportunity. Thank you!

Great information this was very helpful. One thing I do is add the contact to my google contacts and leave the date and info about how we met and any notes about our conversation. Each time I speak with that person I update in the notes by date. If I don't hear from them for over a year I can look at their info and talk like I remember why we are connected.

Great video Vanessa! Thank you so much! I have a questionwhich was not quite covered in your video and perhaps you could do a follow up recording? I am going to finish my PhD in science in a few months and I started looking for job opportunities now. I am puzzled and have no idea how to structure my LinkedIn, especially the section about myself, because I have a few jobs in mind, one quite different from another, and don't want to exclude the interaction from potential employers who would not bother if I chose the other self-description. This also stops me from posting, because a few parallel interests I have are somewhat different from one another and thus target different groups of people. I'm really stuck here and would appreciate your help! :)

You say I "don't want to confuse people by presenting myself in different ways online vs. in person." Well, I have new for you... at least half of the "buzzwords" you said to replace were replaced with VERY confusing words. The buzzwords are clear and straightforward, well-established, easily understood, while their replacements are vague, and in a few cases, not even synonyms. This is what we get for putting a website on such a pedestal.

I loved the value of your content, and plan to master your tips. One question, can one continuously go back to one's profile and update it. I don't want to start off on the wrong foot, and then find out that first impressions are lasting and unchanging. I am working on my at home business- "The Caterpillar Boutique" and I have no desire to kill it before it even begins. As always, Chris Bitonti

Chris Bitonti I’m on LinkedIn everyday and I tend to optimise it to suit. I think as long as you have clear brand positioning and messaging on your profile (like who are you and why folks should follow you)... you will fine

I really loved the content but one thing I want to clear that as we are suggested to replace those buzzwords with some suggested words but more often these buzzwords help us for being searchable because upto some extent these buzzwords work as keywords for the search of employers. Isn't it?
