I really love this song but I do agree with you that it's not like a classic. It almost gets there, but still a fantastic song. I love how melancholic it is and how it ends with a bit of anger coming out.

Lyrically the song is extremely repetitive, I feel like that holds it back from greatness. Aside from that I have to say it's a pretty good song on every other front. Take it for what it is, it isn't trying to be metal, it's a pop-tinged hard-rock song.
