I think the most painful part of Chester’s passing for fans is the fact that so many of us can point to numerous times when his music saved us. During the worst parts of our lives his voice offered an expression and catharsis for our pain. But as he saved us we sadly could not save him. But we can say that he has left behind more than a few reasons to be missed. And we can help keep that sentiment alive.

Reminds me of that line from Bo Burnham's Kanye Rant where he says, "Come and watch the skinny kid with a steadily declining mental health and laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself"
@boyinny17799 ай бұрын
When he says what am I leaving when I'm done here? So much more than we could ever tell him, and he knew just how much everyone loved him, I think his pain was just insurmountable and inescapable. I have treatment resistant Major Depressive Disorder so your mention of catharsis for everyone's pain rang so true with me. We all love him and his family and friends and all the guys. He wants them to know he loves them too. So sweet in his own darkness.

The worst it's many of those "fans" left Chester down when they didn't listen his last album with LP, the moment "Heavy" came out I knew this album was really personal, but "fans" didn't care about what he was going through or the messages in the songs, they only wanted to hear screams like it was 2002. I'm not sure if this attitude took his life, but not getting support from his fans didn't help either.

All his fan we loved the whole band thru time, even when they changed his music style so often, we appreciated that they still keep working as a band, evolved and grow up as we did. I never heard from a real fan say, fuck you Linking Park, just random hater trolls on internet, so we couldn´t do more, we supported them, we loved them even when we didn't always love every single song. I was in holidays this whole last week, and as a friend told me Chester died, i knew he suicided, was my first thought, then i read about it, and it was, it was something you could easily expect. RIP Chester, i´m super heart broken.

Linkin Park saved me from breaking due to the mental abuse by my mother. It got less in the last months but what hurts me the most now is she won't admit she was wrong, to quote Eminem who took my anger while Linkin Park took my fear and sadness. But on it's two years of peak of mental abuse, she insulted me, she shouted at me and broke up everything positive of our relationship. When she mentally abused me so hard I didn't want to stand up anymore, I always listened to this song. It still helps when I got issues with flashbacks.

Projekt Revolution, Virginia Beach, July 26 2008. Chester stopped singing as the crowd on the grass hill erupted with lighters swaying back and forth. Chester said "where the F did all those lighters come from?" and he laughed then continued singing. Some madman was walking around with a backpack full of lighters, handing them out and saying "you'll know when its time". Apparently this song was the time. Greatest concert I've ever seen. Chester and Chris on stage together seemed so happy...

I cry every single time I hear this song. If anybody is reading this feeling like they don’t have a way out feeling hopeless lost and just want to be done, don’t quit. You’re needed here even if you don’t feel like it even if you feel completely invisible. You do have some thing to offer this world.

You must be a very empathic person who always cares for others more than for yourself. Remember to be good to yourself as well. Even I know it is very hard on a daily basis. I am young, barely twenty, but I live in the same heartless world like you. I made my experiences with wanting to die and give your all to reach the freedom you long for. Today, two years later, I know it wasn't a childish or selfish decision, it was a desperate decision and at the same time full of hope. Today through my scares, it is life that gives me hope and no longer the thought of ending it. A humans mind is like the changing tides, the water rises and floats over the shores, the next moment it flees for noone to be seen. We have to bare it somehow and find our own way of swimming through the waves that are our minds. I wish you all courage and wisdom and joy to do so.

You might start to understand just how EASY we all have it these days! Mental illness is a different thing entirely. People who have mental illness, need help with their problems for sure. But it's not life being 'hard' that is the problem for them. Because life really is easier now than at any time in history!

For the past 48 hours I have been purposely avoiding watching or reading any news because I simply could not accept that Chester has left this world. I still somehow remember my first time going to a live concert which was Linkin Park performance at Shanghai Stadium in summer 2009. I remember everything, the hot and humid evening air, the excitement, the girl that I went with and what she wore...And each song performed, and Chester taking his shirt off on the stage due to the heat and screaming into the brightly lit night, and Mike's always sick rap... Chester's voice has carried me thru some of the hardest times in my late teens and early twenties. I'm so sorry, bewildered and even a bit angry that he did not in the end find solace in his own music, like how many of us did. Nevertheless, he gave me and a lot of us heartfelt reason to miss him for sure.

I see a lot of people saying 'We couldn't save him like he saved us'. Honestly, I think a lot of what kept Chester going for all these years were his fans and the live performances. You could see by the pure energy and stage presence he had, and the way he talked while on stage, that those moments were what he lived for. I think we saved him as much as he saved us. It is an eternal shame that his demons eventually did catch up to him... :(

Me, back to this song and cry
@CH-gp1rzАй бұрын
Just heard this one live in Bogota. Nov 11, 2024. Always in our memories, Chester. Always. When feeling empty, always coming back to hear you singing about these feelings we have and that you and Linkin park describe so damm well.

When my time comes Forget the wrong that I've done Help me leave behind some Reasons to be missed And don't resent me And when you're feeling empty Keep me in your memory Leave out all the rest Leave out all the rest Goodbye, Chester.

As I sit here and listen to this song for the 150th time today since hearing about your passing ... I start to depict what you were really saying In all the music you wrote, you poured your complete heart into every song.. everything you sang spoke stories. Your life, your addictions,your mental illnesses, it all really shows now... I can't believe you're really gone... When my time comes forget the wrong that I've done, help me leave behind some reasons to be missed don't resent me when youre feeling empty keep me in your memory leave out all the rest. Rest in paradise brother I hope chris is up there fully embracing you right now. Forever in our hearts. Thank you for the memories. 😔❤️

That was my and my girlfriend's favorite song. We dreamed about house and kids. We were together for more than 5 years from the age of 20 to 25. We just moved into our new apartment on the outskirts of the city. Then she passed away 1.5 years ago after a short illness of 2 weeks. This song will remind me of her forever. I miss her so much..... this song hits so hard😭😭😭 My angel greets Chester from me..

"Don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty, keep me in your memory. Leave out all the rest, leave out the rest". We won't resent you, Chester. Our hearts are empty because you're no longer with us anymore. Fear not, for you'll always be kept in our memories. We'll leave out all the rest while you rest in peace 💕

Every time I feel like I'm losing control of my mind again, that my existence has lost everything again, I listen to this song. My "reason to be missed" will always be my niece and my infinite love for her. But maybe... Someday, she and my family and friends will hear this song and feel what I feel right now. I hope they understand my decision and my feelings, and that they don't resent me for what may happen...

This hurts so fucking much now that he is gone. He cried for help all along, and we just listened. I don't think he realized how many lives he has saved. It's sad. RIP Chester, you saved my life at the cost of your own. I hope you found peace my brother. Love you forever.
