Really wish you guys would stop referring to oneplus as a start up. People didn't call scion cars a start up. It was part of Toyota. Oneplus is part of BBK which owns vivo and oppo. It gives them a scapegoat when they do something wrong. They didn't do anything wrong here but when they do...
@hmm16116 жыл бұрын
Idk y people r so into wireless charging. You are still chained to the cable that powers the charging pad. You can actually, like, make phone calls(non speakerphone), take photos, use finger print scanner(if on rear side), play games(that require gyro), watch videos(if laying down) with a plug-in cable because it's not stationary on the pad. As far as I know, a fast charging cable will always beat a wireless pad in terms of charging speed. Wireless charging increases the cost to make the phone. You also need to purchase a wireless charging pad. Anyone want to kindly enlighten me about the want/need for wireless charging?
@raccoonavi6 жыл бұрын
Wireless charging is a cool concept on paper but it doesn't come close in efficiency and affordability to regular cable charging. 100% agree.
@jorgetwo42796 жыл бұрын
I enjoy it, for me it's really just when I play video games. The cable that runs to the wireless charger is longer than my actual charger cable for my phone. I put it down near me and I can change the song that is playing and things like that. Also while I sleep sometimes

Is there really that much to say about battery life anymore? For the 1st month you own it, it'll be a day and a half to 2 days then it'll drop down to about 1 day. Just like every phone. Until something truly game changing happens with battery technology that's what your gonna get.

I have to disagree with you on some points: 1. Always on screen. I am pretty sure that feature drains the battery more than OP liftup. 2. Wireless charging... Not so wireless when you have to put the phone in a specific location. Wired charging works the same. The only difference is the small effort of putting a type C into the phone. Is that really significant difference? The extra calories spent on a Cable Plug?? Instead, OP still have the fastest charging tech. And in my case when I am in airport and don't have time, I can actually play something and still charge the phone as fast. 3. IP 67 standard. Watch a teardown of the OP and see that it is very very very close to an IP 67 standard. IP certification costs money. OP is all about price reduction. 4. Small things like delay on gesture or the margin of the included protective foil. C'MON! 5. Iris scan vs face unlock. You complained about Iris scan yourself when reviewed the iPhone X.. and fingerprint scan works rly great and super fast. I don't think those small things on the list worth 300+ EUR/USD. The software on OnePlus is awesome. As stated on launch event the error rate of Oxygen OS is very very very low. I am using my OP 6 all day and doing a lot of unlocking and I still have some juice left in the evening. And, using small opportunities for a quick charge is awesome (30% a shower, 70% a lunch and 20-30% one of your vids). Otherwise, great and objective review Linus :)
@kimjohnsimon93556 жыл бұрын
I strongly agree with the Wireless Charging thing. What's the use of wireless charging if it's still sitting on a specific spot. I would go for a wired ultra fast charging 10/10.

@Axle1176 жыл бұрын
The price is going up with each iteration sure, but that's true of all top shelf smartphones, its the cost vs its mainstream competitors that really matters. Still $300 cheaper then the S9 and half the price of an iPhone X. In all fairness, the Oneplus 1 was also $300 cheaper then the S5. So they've been getting more expensive at about the same rate.

Whats the point of wireless charging if you have to keep it on the table and can't use it😂 It would be better if we could move around using the device while its charging. That would be true wireless charging
@deathab0ve6 жыл бұрын
For a very obvious reason. Have you ever tried to grab a cable, but it was a bitch that kept slipping out or was too thin? Have you ever tried to plug in a USB and realize it never goes in? Have you tried to plug in a phone in the dark? ALL of this is fixed and worth it and now for the biggest reason. YOU THROW the phone and it charges. You don't even have to look at the charging point. You can walk in the room and quite literally chuck the phone and it charges. You don't have to walk over plug it in and walk away. Wasted life.
@deathab0ve6 жыл бұрын
Brightly color doesn't help in the dark. Color only works in light. Kind of the definition of color, light waves.

1.) My monitor does not have a red led light, only blue for on(thank god). 2.) No light besides the main light. When I sleep I want it to be pitch dark. Even the windows are heavily curtained so moon light doesn't come in 3.) I'm not going out to buy glowing cables. 4.) ALL of these solutions are harder than just getting a wireless charging station or matt.

No external SD card will always be a deal breaker for me. Can't understand why a company will give that up for "dual sim" or something like that (other than just charge you a lot more for bigger in-store capacity). And yes, I know there are cloud solutions for that, but they are a lot more expensive than just buying a big capacity SD card.
@gungan58226 жыл бұрын
Omri Ratson dual sim is a major selling point internationally because you can get super cheap massive data only packages outside na. I sim for voice, one for data. Similarly for people that travel a lot and swap carriers based on country like in the eu.

Does people still need a new flagship phone in this day and age though? When budget phones are nearly as good, and last year's flagships are significantly cheaper
@Khloya696 жыл бұрын
Thanh Do Huu they're not nearly as good, try to game on a cheap phone and compare to iPhone X, u can't game well at all on a cheap phone.
@thanhdohuu94736 жыл бұрын
Haven't got my hands on an Iphone X, but my dad has a samsung s9, I have a Xiaomi note 5 (SD636). The gaming experience on vast majority of games is identical on both phones. You may not have had a budget phone ever, but you can feel that even on a 2-3 years old flagships, most games are still running as smooth as a newer phone. New budget phones have the same processing power of 2-3 years old flagships. On top of that, the mobile game market has existed for a decade now. You have a massive number of games optimized for a mid-range of 5 years ago. There is not going to be a difference running those on any new phones. There are certainly new and heavy games that require a lot of processing power, but the number of people who actually want to play them on a phone is rather small compare to the overall phone market and there are PCs and consoles for real gaming.
@Khloya696 жыл бұрын
Thanh Do Huu it's the intensive games that see the biggest difference u probably just play casual games
@thanhdohuu94736 жыл бұрын
I don't play intensive games on phones, the phones get hot quickly most of the time and gaming on a small screen where you have to put your hand on a part of it for control is not that great. I have a full-fledged desktop PC for that. Like i said, the number of people who actually buy a phone for heaving gaming is going to be small compared to the market, let alone buying a freaking flagship phone just for gaming. If you are too rich to care, then the Nintendo Switch is way better. Hell, If you buy a budget phone, you would still have enough money left to get yourself a Nintendo Switch and a few games with the money left.
@Khloya696 жыл бұрын

I'm an old retail guy and here goes my take on features, advantages & benefits... Nix that. This is what I know. Try to buy products from good people who don't just want to sell you hardware and software. I almost bought a OnePlus 5T. Almost! I bought a Nokia 8 instead. Not a flagship but I'm happy with how they've pushed the updates (stock android) and communicated with me when I have questions. I'm not sold on OnePlus until their business model includes a high priority for customer care.
@TheNacropolice6 жыл бұрын
As an owner of the 5T i really do like it alot, my only complaint is that my screen protector seems rather prone to chipping and it is the first phone i have had which has this issue. That said, my last phone was one plus one and I have loved the company ever since. You get flagship level quality for half the cost, can't compete with that.

#1 flaw or con for any OP phone is no Verizon support. They need to get their next phone certified for Verizon. I've been very happy with my OP3 and would like to stay with OP and dash charging but would like to have the option to use all carriers

The non expandable storage is a dealbreaker for me. I'd still prefer the Motorola moto g6 plus which has a headphone jack, dual sim AND a micro sd card slot for under €300 retail. Not to mention the long battery life.
@michaelhearn73026 жыл бұрын
What do you need the removable storage for exactly? I just dump files onto my pc once a week and delete them off my phone. I dont think I could ever reasonably fill it up.

Anything xiaomi has to be imported in my country which means the warrenty isn't as good. My collegue has a redmi 4 (if I remember right) and it has a bunch of software bugs including not being able to pick up the phone if you're using it for something else at the moment the call comes in. To add to that I don't have a credit card as it would reduce the amount I could loan on a mortgage (and hardly any local store or webshop accepts them) and I tried paypal once and never again. And why a missing sd card slot is a dealbreaker for me is the fact I only clean up a phone when I'm replacing it with another so I use a 128gb sd card to dump everything on in the mean time. Basically I only use a phone as a phone, an email device, for whatsapp, for reading the news, for occasionally snapping pictures and for watching some youtube. When I get home I throw my phone out of my pocket and ignore it until the next day. I don't need a flagship phone but I really liked this one. All I really care about is a very snappy UI that doesn't get very slow over the course of a few months without maintenance. My ideal phone would be an iPhone that wasn't badly constructed with expandable storage, a UI that doesn't suck, has a headphone jack and that doesn't get firmware updates that brick the phone. I would even pay the rediculous price as they give 5 year updates. A google pixel 2 has 3 year updates but costs nearly 3 times as much as a motorola which would mean 3x2=6 years of updates for the same price. The oneplus being 3,5x as fast is irrelevant to me as I wouldn't notice in my usecase and paying more for stuff I wouldn't notice is not worth paying.

If I may ask what filles do you punt on your device that you need more than 120gb. Because I see a lot of people who need a lot of space and I can't figure out what takes up so much space on people's phones.
@gaatjeniksan30686 жыл бұрын
Lucas van Wijk No trust in cloud services, no data plan, recording every video in 4k and lack of maintenance will fill up your memory pretty fast. I also keep movies in the storage for the moments at work when there's nothing to do. But I when I look at features that old phones have and new ones don't (like my old Nokia could copy paste and the iphone couldn't) I would get irritated every time I'd need it. An sd card is also easy to replace so you won't have a note 4 situation where the tlc flash would grind to a halt after too many reads and writes.

What's the best way to transfer videos from the OP6 to a Windows PC? I'm using the included cord to plug in directly, and every video looks grainy, even the 4K. The 1080p, 240FPS slo-mo content I transfer looks terrible, even those shot in full daylight! I'd appreciate any tips!

how can KZbin use fullscreen with notch on 19:9 display? Aren't youtube videos pretty much always served in 16:9 (incl 4:3 with bb)? Does it stretch or just crop out vertical in order to show video with notch on 19:9 display? Why?
