@@6eorg393 We want virtual monitors within one hardware monitor. Split the screen into different monitors like how we can currently do with applications. It is easier to snap applications into specific shapes if the application thinks it is going fullscreen. Additionally, if you have two different kinds of monitors then you may get different pixel densities that prevent things from ever looking right. Partitioning one big monitor into several virtual monitors wouldn't have this issue (I don't think).

@@iooooooo1 Well more about things what you've gotten used to working silky smooth with normal 16:9 monitors, using bios can sometimes be a struggle and other stuff like that just doesn't quite feel as snappy as your ordinary normal monitor. And editing pictures is a nightmare, you move 2 inches to the left and the colors look completely different on this monitor than what they do when you move back to the dead center of it. But actually about literal headaches, I did get my eyes very tired and a small headache during the first hours of using the monitor because of it's immense curve, but after getting used to it you cant even notice it.

Yup. so far I have no regrets, and yes you need a strong card! what's really nice is there's games that actually give you the extra FOV on the 5120x1440 resolution. the only real issue is trying to live stream on ultrawide is not really supported on twitch. The immersion is pretty great. I've missed a few phone calls being a bit too immersed :D

I have the CRG9 (the predecessor to this monitors predecessor) and having lived with a 32:9 aspect ratio for awhile now…it definitely isn’t for everyone. Even something as basic as finding a decent desktop background is a chore. There are also other annoying things like how most in browser video players that don’t know how to handle it effectively (going full screen leaves a whole bunch of blank space on the sides but you can’t multitask in those blank spaces…I basically have to use theatre mode on KZbin instead). You basically need a massive desk because of its foot print or you’ll need to invest a couple hundred dollars in a monitor stand that can support the weight. The monitor will be so heavy that most monitor stands with head tilt functions won’t be able to handle it. Having said that, I love the PBP mode. It basically allows you to treat the monitor like two separate 16:9 27 inch monitors.

I've got the G9 (Not the Neo reviewed here), and I have HDR turned off. It's pretty bad. The 10 dimming zones basically make it unusable, especially in games that take place in dark areas (Resident Evil Village was especially bad). If I didn't already have the original G9, I'm sure this offers a much better experience. However, I also only paid $1400 for the G9, whereas it looks like this thing is going for $2500. I don't think I'd be able to justify buying this for over $1000 more.

I'll probably get trashed for saying this, but I swear people will call out any KZbinr for being sponsored by a company and not saying any negatives about an item, unless its Linus. Why is everyone so happy for this review? He's not really allowed to say anything negative about it so it's hardly even a real review. It's not even subtle, Linus is so harsh on every item he reviews except for this. Not a coincidence. It feels especially dishonest during moments like when he says "I know I'm sponsored by Samsung, but the people need to know what they're getting for their money" is also SO deceptive because he really isn't going to say anything negative about the item, but he'll say that to make himself seem more honest with a sponsored product. Not my cup of tea, was hoping for a real review of this item. Okay, rant over.

Did some quick math out of curiosity for the dimming zones. The stated screen pixel resolution is 5120 × 1440. The stated number of dimming zones is 2048. For my calculations I assumed the dimming zones are arranged in a rectangular grid, with no zone wasting any potential for pixel backlighting, and each zone serving as a backlight for the same number of pixels, and each zone serving a square shaped area... With those assumptions, each zone would serve 3600 pixels, which is a square of 60 pixels wide. The dimming zones would be arranged in a grid of ~85.333 × 24 zones. Obviously, you can't have factional dimming zones, so something in my assumptions must be wrong. I think it's likely that the dimming zones are arranged in a hexagonal grid, serving non-square regions of pixels, not serving the same number of pixels, or some combination of these. I think the zones boarder the edges of the screen are most likely to be serving a different number of pixels as those not boardering the edge. I also think the grid could be arranged like hexagons, which might be a more effective use of the comparatively limited number of zones. (Though, that would probably be a headache for the firmware designer to figure out.) I don't think the dimming zones would serve a non-square area, as in, having an pixel area with an aspect ratio other than 1:1. But it's still a possibility. There is plenty of president for non-square aspect ratios for display pixels in other image technologies, like components of image file formats. But I don't think it would look great for dimming zones. It would probably result in noticeable stripes of bright/dark areas, unless there use a light filtering layer that spreads the light in one direction more than another, by just the right amount. That's about it... I hope someone found it interesting or useful. Sorry, I don't feel like taking the time to figure out the exact dimensions of a hexagonal grid of dimming zones. Especially for something I'm very unlikely to buy. (Edit: I misheard the number of dimming zones as 1048 the first time. It's actually 2048. Everything past this point is the old version. I left it in for laughs. Not much is different though.) -------- Did some quick math out od curiosity for the dimming zones. The stated screen pixel resolution is 5120 × 1440. I have a 43" Samsung curved Monitor. I bought it ***exactly*** for allowing to display 2 Computers at once left side/ right side. When working home office I can run the office PC (connected by thin client) and still have one of my private PCs running to one of the other inputs. If you do not run Linux based systems, you can go for one set of peripherals when using free MS Garage development "Mouse without Borders" This works SOOOO great. I think that a lot people meanwhile do same or similar (maybe also because COVID lead to a different life). So while you say, that you could not imagine why one could do that - I tell you I strongly believe I am not the only one. In the evening I can enjoy the full screen. Only issue (if you want to call it like that is the poor refresh rate Unfortunately I think an Odyssey will not fit on my desk and I cannot buy a larger one, as it does not fit to the corner of the room, where it is placed. The other thing I am missing (but I do not know a brand/ monitor which has this feature) is a kind of preset. It would be cool, if I could set up the main setting (work) differently compared to the secondary setting (after work) ***and*** if I could switch this with a button easily (two or three buttons to directly switch between the setups - the setup should also store which input was used... my Samsung always starts to scan aaaaaalll the inputs and ends up to "find" the only active input for very last one...). Also I guess a monitor in 2021 should not only provide buttons, there should be also a Windows Application connected by USB to the PC to directly control all this. Dont get me wrong... it is good the buttons are there, but it would be a blast if I could control the monitor ***additionally*** with an Application. I do not trust those buttons to last through a normal Work/ Freetime day long enough (and I know some of the brands do have sth. alike...). Good content, though! Like!

This is so much more useful in programming/software engineering than gaming to be honest.

I will buy one when they make a 7680x1440 monitor and ability to split screen into 3 independent screens (with adequate connectors) aka Picture-by-Pictures so I can simulate tree monitors with 2560x1440. At the moment i have 3 monitors with 2560x1440, it would be nice to replace them with 1 single monitor with potentially better power consumption/management.

32:9 is already super niche, don't hold your breath on 48:9 ever being a thing (never say never, but this seems like an ocasion for it)

Note the main difference is the price. The original G9 was avaiable preatty much directly after release for like 1500 USD (even though msrp was higher) and this onne is a whopping 2600 USD (even though this one isn't out yet and might drop a bit)

I have always loved the look of the odysseys, I am looking to get an XPS laptop soon that has a 3090 in it. I wonder how well a laptop could power this since I am looking at setting up a docking station.

as of july 2022 I finally got my hands on one of these. they might not be the bestfeature/value ratio but (so far knock on wood) it hasnt had problems and it looks amazing with the games im throwing at it. i am running it with a 3080ti and honestly, i only have a handful of games that can run it anything over 120fps on it. it is quite the experience and im very happy with mine. mine was on sale for $1800 down from $2250-ish
