I’ve been getting back into drawing and you’re absolutely right… “repetition is the mother of all skill” is a quote I hear but haven’t applied… I’m going to start a practice sketchbook and fill pages every day… great video… much needed to hear and inspirational… thanks for sharing!

You're one of the few artists who actually show their journey in FULL. It also makes me happy that you're able to not be too harsh to yourself... It's the biggest struggle for me rn 😂 trying to stop with the expectations and just draw

So glad you posted this Liron! I've been working on my art after a super long hiatus. Even though I had a strong background in art and started at an early age, I remember the hundreds of sketches like these I did along the way. Oddly enough, after returning to art and practicing watercolors which are new to me after experience in oils, I took a step back and realized very quickly realized my core skills were hardly existent and rusty after so many years. I've spent a month now on and off just working with graphite and doing studies. Lines, shapes, gestures, rhythm, tonal values, shadow shapes...they all play a huge part in getting more proficient.

That’s the hardest thing to tell someone. Whenever someone “compliments” something I’ve done that took hours or even days to accomplish with a trite statement like “I could never do that, I’m not talented”. It’s almost insulting because it’s not the “talent “ that they see in the final product, it’s the unseen hours of work and do-overs. They don’t know how much time and effort it took. That’s why quality art is more than the cost of the materials, it’s the hours of time the observer never sees. Thanks for showing and reminding us of this process.

Your drawings look more thorough than my doodles. Which I make tons of but sometimes I wonder if it's useful or I should put more energy in making something complete. I can fill a page with weird faces without thinking much about what I'm doing. I guess analyzing is also important. To stop drawing and thinking about how it works. Correcting your mistakes. The heads that I drew used to look big. When I made them smaller it looked even more strange. It was the eyes that were too small and made the head look unproportional though it wasn't. Eyes are quite big. Ears have an angle. Clavicles can move in all directions. The right one is often a different size than the left one. I learn new things every day. The only thing that sucks is that time isn't unlimited.

So true practice makes, well maybe not ‘perfect’ but definitely better. My problem is I’ll get into drawing one thing, say faces. I practice and feel improved then focus on something else and after some time go back to faces and I feel I’m back to square one again. I’m probably being hard on myself and there is improvement but feels a bit frustrating. Anyway, love your channel and art ❤️

Maybe instead of completely switching from A to B, you can just reduce the time practicing A and spend more time practicing B?

Liron!! Thank you 😊 Two ideas: 1) Will you explain when/why/how to use 1 vanishing point vs 2? 2) Will you show how to draw cones in different directions and angles? I struggled drawing a bird beak pointed away from me. 🐦

Looking for drawing instruction. You suggested Proko. His drawing course focuses on figure drawing which is not my area of interest. I want to be proficient in landscapes, flowers and architecture. Looking forward to participating in Urban Sketching. Is there benefit to Proko for these urban sketching themes or do you have suggestions for an artist that teaches subjects for urban sketching. I want to overlay ink or graphite work with watercolor as my end goal

If you are able to afford a subscription to Skillshare and/or Craftsy both have a number of urban sketching and landscape sketching classes where the instructors are specifically working with ink and watercolor. I like the Shari Blaukopf ones on Craftsy for her style and the Teoh Yi Chie ones on Skillshare because I just really like the way he communicates. He has a KZbin channel where he review books and other materials and talks a lot about the materials he uses and why.

@sofiastylianou68793 жыл бұрын
No progress is linear..and in art there is no absolute level for comparison between different artists. If you are doing your own unique work is almost impossible to compare with anyone else :) i find this to be true when it comes to art business though..
@hakantacrafter8133 жыл бұрын
the person starting late may put in more effort, some people also pick it up easier then others (i think these are the people who just really enjoy it). Also what happens when you are as good as your favourite artist? being an artist is about NOW it is enjoying the process you are going trough now it is not about the destination.
