Hi there, Liron here!
In today's episode of Painting Masters we'll take a look at works by an incredible painter called Blanca Alvarez.
Blanca is from Malaga, Spain.
She paints a large variety of subjects, and my favorite thing about her style is how colorful it is!
I found about her through Instagram.
You can check it out here:
/ blancaalvarezwatercolors
I hope you enjoy this one, and I'll see you again in another vid real soon!

The thing I like best is she uses interesting compositions, original and engaging. Her use of light and color gives her paintings a unique 'glow'.

Beautiful work by Blanca; thank you for these. The little buildings on the beach are (unsurprisingly) 'Beach Huts' which are wooden constructions you find on beaches in Britain and Europe; they are owned by individual families and used for changing into swimming gear and pic-nicking etc when enjoying a day at the beach. They are very sought after and expensive to buy.

She is one of my favorite. Her ability to control the wetness is amazing. Many of the edges and the shapes she does are not easy to do. If you paint them while it's still wet it'll just vanish, but paint them when it's too dry and you'll get cauliflower edges

I have been following Blanca's art for so many years and I found this video about her, I loved they way you analyse her work, few points I noticed too but other points you bring to me for the first time like the overall composition of the painting and the final strokes of contrast colour, well done in this videa I loved it. I would also want to visit your own work. Thank you

Perfect choice and description of Blanca's Job that is said as she has said it. But Malaga is not an island, it is a city by the sea. It is in Andalusia, in the south of Spain, where watercolor is highly appreciated. I see that you are struck by the distribution of some color points, it is a technique called "pointillé" and it was already used by Veermer.

Thanks for this great video on artist Blanca Alvarez. Her paintings are quite impressive. Great skills with drawing, perspective, and color. She seems to have a handle on the elements that make a balanced composition. I respect you for featuring a female artist, too. Most male artists never mention the opposite sex when they share the same career paths as themselves, so that in itself was enlightening. You are a talented artist yourself, Mr. Yanconsky. Bravo! Please post more of your own work.Keep creating because your audience loves you and your work.

Great video, Liron - many thanks for posting! What an incredible artist Ms Alavarez is; if I could do just one painting as well as she, I could die a happy man. Incidentally, I love the way you discuss these artists that you feature from time to time. Thanks again for the quantity and quality of the output on your channel - all the best, Brian.

Hi Liron, the pools are dying pools used in colouring skins or fabrics in north Africa.

Hey Liron, thanks for introducing to this wonderful artist !! I am amazed at her lighthouse paintings .. particularly the crashing waves. I am trying to figure out how she does it. Can you? I get some clues, but her execution is perfect. It would be great if you can demo something like that. Thanks for your videos. They are amazing and I learn a lot !!
@LironYan
@LironYan 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 And she is indeed amazing! About the crashing wave - I think it's beauty comes from the combination of the rough edges (perhaps achieved using the paper texture, but not necessarily), and how it contrasts with the wave's different colors that were done wet in wet. It's very pleasing to the eye. May do something on the topic in a future vid, once I feel more comfortable with that kind of technique ^_^

Thank you for introduction to Blanca Alvarez. She uses a high key palette which reminds me of my own choice of colors in my work. I have tried to get more contrast, in fact, but always seem to keep shadow areas subtle yet not what some call "muddy". I enjoyed this video so much, Liron. Maybe you could interview her some time? Those little 'shacks', you didn't know what they are? They're beach-huts; here in the UK many were built in Victorian times or post-war, and they were used for changing, for making tea, for storing deck-chairs, etc. They were home for the day at the beach. They quickly became a status-symbol and there are still many in existence today, but to buy one there's a very long waiting-list and it costs almost as much as a house!! 🙂

Liron I enjoy all of your videos, and I like these Painting Masters ones as well. My biggest issue is always just starting to paint. What do you do to keep your motivation up and get past that barrier of just getting going?
@LironYan
@LironYan 5 жыл бұрын
So happy you enjoy these 😊🙏🏼 I handled the barrier you mention by simply setting time to paint. Whatever happens in the time doesn't matter, as long as I paint. If I'm unmotivated, I'll just paint random stuff on the paper that have no meaning. As long as you put brush to paper everything is good 😉🎨 Let me know how it goes and if it improves!

Hi Lyron. Good video as usual. I would like you to check for a spanish artist called Manel Plana. It would be even better if you make a video about him :), but it could just be nice to know what you think about his art. He has usually a very short palette of colours, bur very rich on values. Also, his kind of drawing is like if all his watercolours were sketches, but I personally find something magic on his work. Regards.
