@@violetsrayreikishop2 Glennis has been singer for a long time and isn’t new in the industry. She started at 15 (1994) and had a huge single in 2011. Although Lisa occasionally sang back up for the Rolling Stones for many years, she toured regularly with Luther Vandross for 25 years. That was her real job. Lisa is still alive and singing in and around my native Brooklyn, is still just as beautiful and can still hit that F6. She is, IMO, the most underrated singer of her generation.

This is a valuable comment. I gravitated towards The Stones on that list because they're my favourite band, and I also know nothing by Luther Vandross, not one song! Guess I need to rectify that? If you can recommend a performance of his with a good Lisa vocal, I'll happily check it out!

@@bridgethegapreactions "Give Me The Reason" by Luther is a fine example of his use of Lisa's special whistle note talents. Luther also had the great Ava Cherry alongside Lisa as his back up singer. For some reason they decided to edit this performance. I haven't looked very hard but at least on the surface it seems the whole performance isn't listed anywhere. The video cuts the actual second verse and first chorus and it goes from the first verse to the second chorus directly, then bridge, last chorus, and outro. It's an amazing song. If only Lisa hadn't decided she didn't want the spotlight like she did, she'd probably have been one of the most well known artists in the 90s. She was nominated for two Grammys and won one of them with this song, and it was her debut. She could've done anything she wanted with her career, but she simply didn't want to go solo and decided to continue with her career as it had been until then. Huge loss for us listeners but I do have great respect for her for making a difficult choice and sticking to it still even though there were probably a ton of people tryna get her to do one thing or another.

Lisa was the one who decided that she didn't want to record another solo album because of her fondness for backing vocalist rather than a solo artist. Sounds like insecurities. @@ChrisC709 exactly.. Mariah has plenty of songs that are difficult and don't even use the whistle register, people must think she jumps on a song and talks for most of it, hit a whistle note then leave

She's not a one hit wonder she just doesn't wanna be in the spotlight she said that she is comfortable just being a backup singer..she can be up there with whitney, mariah and celine if she wants to but she decided not to...but to me she doesn't need to have a record to be call the greatest

Miss Mariah got nothing over her and Chant'e Moore, they so sadly unrated.

It's not a competition. Y'all love disrespecting Mariah. Not her fault she's the standard

@@eleeveeayees3425 I love Mariah, and I assure you Chante Moore and Lisa Fisher are more than a whistle note, they will hold their own against anyone, that's a bet I'm willing to take, any day.

She could have been ultra famous if she wanted to, but she was uncomfortable with the spotlight on herself. She has toured and song background for the likes of Luther Vandross, the Rolling Stones, Tina Turner. She only put the one Solo album " So Intense " Encouraged by Luther to do so. She won the Grammy for the song you just heard. She's still performing to this day. Unless you react to the rest of the songs on the album, that's all you are getting from her. Dare I say she's the best background singer ever.
