In a world where your main character is a disgraced martial artist with home made abilities and an unhealthy body, and his greatest ally is a sharpshooter who literally refuses to shoot, in a world where every enemy is insane, blind, or suffering from some kind of physical or health related malady, the hardest boss in the game being literally "just some guy who's normal" puts this world's power scaling at a very interesting level. His brass knuckles might as well be a damn bazooka in the context of how sick and weak everyone else in this world is.

The best part of Arnold, is that he isn't some huge mutant, isn't some gang leader (he kills anyone he meets, infinity or otherwise) ,and he doesn't have some cheap "I'm stronger because I have a mcguffin" thing. He is literally . . . No one in particular.

I totally agree. His inscrutability is a nice reflection of the Infinity Franchise as a whole. He's not a charismatic warlord with a grand plan like Buzzo, he's just a short, balding man with a Hitler mustache. Visually he's unremarkable and we also don't get hardly anything about his personality or worldview. We can't even definitively say he enjoys all this fighting. He's essentially the embodiment of the Franchise itself; he kills people for no reason besides the principle of violence itself. There's no sadistic pleasure involved and no rush of adrenaline; cracking men's skulls open is just something he feels compelled to do. That's why he tells you blame the franchise for his misdeeds. He's essentially relinquished any sense of individuality and become part of a collective identity, that of the franchise. That's why he's literally no one in particular. He's a cipher, an extension of the swarming, amorphous mass that is Infinity. "Arnold Shpitz" is just the name of the shell that Infinity now occupies.

This song embodies Arnold so well; you’re in the middle of a destroyed city, and you’ve basically come up against one of the only humans that maintain any semblance of sanity... and he’s a cold-blooded, calculating psychopath who can decimate a JOY MUTANT with a single punch. Something that made Arnold stand out to me, and something that might be lost in the wealth of expansions to Pointless fans have made, is that the player doesn't have to beat Arnold, the story will continue if they lose. Having a required boss fight be loseable in an RPG is pretty out of the norm but it really sold how dangerous Arnold was compared to the rest of Downtown. Losing to any other Franchiser is a game over, which can be read as the game telling you if Alex and Joel fought them, they would definitely win, this loss was on you. But with Arnold, the game is essentially telling you "fighting Arnold has a very high likelihood these two would just lose". He's a whole different beast from the rest of Downtown, and running from him would leave Alex and Joel in just as bad a state as if they'd scraped out a win. It's one of the little ways Pointless uses the gameplay as a storytelling tool and it always stood out as really cool to me.

i see a lot of people wondering about Arnold's ability to so easily kill even joy mutants, to put it simply the reason Arnold can kill a joy mutant with his bare hands is the same reason Alex and Brad can do it, anything will die if you hit it enough, it just happens that Arnold has racked up at least 360+ kills according to the lore (which is around 9 folds of infinity) meaning he's simply gotten so good at killing at whatever is in front of him that he can decimate even a joy mutant is as little as 3 punches (considering it took only one to blow the head off of one of his "fans" )

If chapter 2 ever gets finished, I really hope Arnold shows up. You might consider him dead if you defeat him, but the game doesn’t let you interact with his body, potentially meaning he *could* still be alive. Despite jerseyheads being banned from The City, I can imagine Arnold somehow still getting in by just killing anyone who tries to stop him.

He was almost certainly dead by the looks of it, and if he returned in any capacity going forward it'd come off as fanservicey and weird. His place in the lore is to be something of a looming threat amongst all the people who only challenge you because they are so numerous; someone in this whole rundown world that can actually fight. In actuality he's No One in Particular. He was stopped by a man who practices a fake martial art and a man skilled at party tricks just because they weren't indoctrinated into blood insanity, are proficient at defending themselves and have a collective IQ total higher than 180. Arnold was not even highly ascended within the Infinity Franchise, only a few folds up, and he's only renowned in Downtown Olathe because unlike everyone there he's actually capable of fighting. This isn't to piss on the parade, mind you, but Arnold was an excellent not-final final boss of the game. With him dead you're free to move on from fighting in the dirt and mud of Garbage Island and Downtown Olathe, scrapping with insane people to survive and onward towards whatever true evil lies in the city. You're competent enough to have a shot of making it through that hell and finding a place worth staying.

Arnold's a boss who tests everything you've learned and your progress. If you haven't fought much and just go to him without seeing much of the content, his first phase's no nonsense attacks will wreck you. His second form tests how you deal with multiple opponents and his first turn against you should tell you EXACTLY what to take out first, and if you don't pay attention to who deals the most damage you can easily be fucked. His third form makes extensive use of the charge mechanics some enemies have used before so you also need to juggle your dodging moves as well and despite being heavily injured he has the capacity to screw you up if you haven't figured out to dodge. He also tests how frugal you've been with your bottles and healing items, if you haven't been managing resources correctly you're fucked. Of course, you could always run away. Like a pussy. But then you won't get his sweet brass knuckles and there's still encounters after him. But strangely you could consider this guy the final boss despite being in the middle of the story since he's actually the hardest to deal with, even considering Anaconda and Jessie Mack. Note that his theme song is a remixed version of Downtown Olathe's theme, which should tell you his role in the overall design in the game. This is actually a pretty good lesson in game design, the placement of the game's resources don't make you feel powerful and make this whole game feel like you're fighting on the edge for the whole thing, which is pretty much the intent of the feeling the game's trying to give in the first place. you will seldom go into a battle with full health and you need to manage that.

You also need to judge when it's time to approach further into the story. The best times to attack him are right after the dinner or after eating the antique ham, as these leave you at full health. You also have to judge when using THOSE items too, as without healing items, then that's all you got- whatever's left after the desert scene, and 2 sets of health. That's all you got overall. You also need to judge if you're ready with EXP, as just beating anaconda, stephan and jessie gives you nowehere near the experience needed to fight him, so you best to clear out most of the area before checking arnold off the list.

I mean, Alex, the main character, is an old geezer who fights with a fake martial arts and yet he's STILL capable of laying people out! That's how low the standards are for Downtown Olathe's fighters; Just some nobody in particular who knows how to box and wields brass knuckles is capable of outdoing everyone else!

Well thay both turn in to mutant monsters , both are refered to as nobodies ( though in case of arnold it is "nobody in particular" ) and , at the time of their monster mutation , surrounded by corpses. And they both fight people that don't really want to fight them. And yeah , the parrarels are fairly thin.

The fact that you couldn't check his body to see the usual "He's dead" text after the fight leads me to believe he could still be kicking. Perhaps the game punishes the player later on if you lost to him. The Franchise is searching for both Alex and Joel, and during that time Arnold has gotten stronger being that he's at a higher Fold than before. If you beat Arnold tho. He spends his time trying to heal, by the time he finds Alex and Joel again he's still not 100% but still gives it his best shot.

I loved this fight when i played recently, in the game there were 3 fights that were hard to me, 1 the trash dude with garbage bags on him (i took out his trash then him so yes that is difficult), 2 the clown car, then finally arnold. I think the reason why everyone loves arnold is due to a few things, 1 he mercilessly beat down a joy mutant single handidly, 2 he doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to talking, 3 he's just a normal man with so much mystery around him that people loved looking for clues about his life, and 4 the fight itself against him. The music, the concept, the whole damn shebang was amazing. As many have already said about the fight, first phase is kind of a gentle kick in the teeth into a curb stomp. Phase 2 is hell if you don't take out some of the heads right away, and phase 3 tests your endurance with the constant strong attacks that force you to either eat one to deal more damage or dodge them all to keep both joel and alex alive. All in all this is a perfectly well done character in a world of interesting people and monsters that pretty much everyone loves.

Everyone keeps using the term defeated, which if you ask me is for good reason. Arnold was NEVER confirmed as dead, we didn't get a chance to examine him when he was on the ground. So either way, you spin it, win or lose the fight, Arnold has a chance of returning. I think if you run, he will mostly just see you as a scared animal fleeing him. However, if you do succeed in taking him down, I feel like he will see you as an ACTUAL challenge in the future.

Tthe majority of characters you meet in Pointless are basically wimps and losers, which the creator even says by calling it "lame people fighting other lame people." Arnold however is definitely an exception since he's freakishly strong, but Big Lincoln was considered one of the most powerful guys of Olathe. If two old guys could beat Arnold, then the same person that gave Buddy a lot of trouble would probably wreck him.

I had always wondered if Arnold was a Joy Mutant, because his strength in the overworld was more than human. And of course, the second phase of his battle... I couldn't tell, Joy Mutants don't normally get more heads. But Joy Mutants are un-controllable, stretch limps and rely on dangerous moves. Arnold more seemed like an experiment... Or perhaps the Infinity franchise has some deeper shit than what's presented outside.

That's something I really like about the franchise. It seems like a dumb, violence for violence's sake gang at first, just indulging in pointless violence. However, there are supernatural traces behind it, and the more you progress, the more ritualistic the violence seems. Just look at the state of Downtown Olathe, covered in meat, at Stephan Kindchild, Arnold's second phase, and the portal (although those last two things could just be hallucinations in the face of all the violence). Makes me want to know more about it.

jersey removes your tools and health regen, max armour too but you get +150 MHP, 4 walkspeed and a TP system. LMB makes you punch thrice, dealing 28 damage per punch, 84 in total, you get 5 TP for each landed punch. Q (requires 15 tp) makes you grab someone and throw them in the air, applying ragdoll and a 2 walkspeed debuff, also jumppower decreased by 20 for 10 seconds. E (requires 20 TP) makes you quickly punch forward, dealing 40 damage and slight knockback, applying a -5 defense debuff for 10 secs. F (no TP required) is an uppercut that deals 50 damage and launches your opponent upwards and ragdolling them. Z (requires 50 TP) is +Geared Up which basically buffs certain attacks. LMB (GU) is punch flurry. swiftly swing 4 times, with increased damage each swing, finally ending with an uppercut that deals 57 damage. also increases in stun for every swing. F (GU) is a heavy swing. after a delay do a wide swing infront of you, dealing 114 damage and knockback, also applies ragdoll. R (requires 80 TP) is +Dangerous which gives you access to a really powerful move called Head Crusher (also gives you +2 walkspeed for the duration of the effect). R + Dangerous slows you, after a short delay grab forwards, if someone is grabbed their skull will be crushed dealing 100 damage and applying Brain Damage. (disables keybinds for tools and a 0.5s stun at random. however not ALL keybinds are disabled, for example warming yourself with fists and other stuff i think. oh and also you can execute people with this.) X is boxing stance, which gives you 20% of missing tp, +Solid (-2 ws, 10 defense and superarmour.) C is Wound Lick. (or Recovery) which heals 88 HP and restores 15 Heat. you also lose 3 walkspeed when you are at less or at 50% HP. also forgot to mention in the War Season Reimagined video that jersey also drops trauma kit when killed.
