This was so necessary! Thank you for posting. I used to be the “nice” girl and let people get away with murder. The crazy thing is the nicer you are the meaner they act! Almost as if they resent you for it. They really want to get a reaction. I learned that lesson and put value on my time and inner peace! I am quick to remove myself from foolishness now!

I'm so happy for you and the fact that you value your time, inner peace and set boundaries ✨
@alexandraeverafter10153 жыл бұрын
I can relate to this. It is easy for people to take advantage of “nice” as well as “pure and innocent” people. Even when I was at school, people were nasty to me for being the “nice” girl (even though I screamed a lot when people treated me like dirt). I also had that “pure and innocent” image at school after my classmates learned I was “smart” because I kept winning those geography games in class, getting high test scores(most of the time), and (almost) never cussed. It seems that there is tremendous pressure to maintain that image once you “earn” it. If you make even one mistake, no matter how petty, you are no longer that “perfect” girl. I was teased for making small mistakes at school (e.g., saying the wrong things) or performing actions out of character, and I was really bullied when I bombed a major test at school, and somehow, the whole class, if not, the whole school, found out, even if I never told anybody my score (which shall remain unnamed). I really thought the world was going to end! I learned this the hard way after an absolutely disastrous relationship. I am happy for you, classy lady!

Yes, I heard that half of the population is mentally ill so being 'nice' isn't realistic. I was a doormat growing up so I attracted lots of abusive people. It was terrible. I am proud that I've learned to assert myself but sometimes, because of my past , I can be a little aggressive.

By boyfriend didn't pay for the first half of our first date, (it was a museum ticket) he didn't know me that well yet, and wasn't sure he liked me in a romantic way yet. The second half of the date, he payed for my coffee. As soon as he realised he is interested in me, he started looking for ways to provide. I can only count 3 times-first date included, while I had to pay for my own things. And that were exceptions because we're both students, and sometimes just genuinely broke. However, this never happens of he has an option. He started getting a bigger income than in the beginning, and just recently he wouldn't even let me pay for my own clothes... he payed more than €260 worth of clothes for me, even if I wanted to buy it for myself.
@sumi49983 жыл бұрын
@Die Kaprunin That's what I'm saying. Though, it shouldn't depend on you. I think you might have misunderstood. It should come from a place of self growth and development for him, the internal desire to be better must already be there before you meet. What I'm saying, is, similarly to how we are constantly growing and learning, and can potentially be a month away from who we want to be, so could he. There has to be an internal drive and ambition already in place, I'm saying, recognise that, instead of expecting the already finished picture.

@@sumi4998 he seems great but not all stories end this way. Too many women waste their time and energy on a man with just potential
@sumi49983 жыл бұрын
@@mysweetpepper unfortunately that's true. I should have emphasised the fact that we met up as friends first. As soon as he wanted to pursue me, the way he treated me shifted. I am trying to say, it's about the character, not the "financial end product". Michelle Obama did not marry the president, she married a man she saw the character of before he became president. That is what I'm saying. He wanted to be able to pay for the other 2 times I mentioned, but did not have the money. He was a student then, and treating me to everything he wanted to was impossible. He couldn't even treat himself, but when given the opportunity, he still chose to treat me instead of himself. Now, he is in a more stable financial position, and his actions reflect that. What I'm trying to say is, if his character is high caliber, but his financial circumstances do not yet reflect that, usually it's only a matter of time before it does. Character is more important than money. With character, he can work your way up to become financially successful, and you know he's going to treat you with love when he makes it, because he treated you like a princess before he had money (there are ways to do that without money, and if he finds out how, that reflects his character). But if he only has money and no character, you might end up miserable.

I used to argue with my ex all the time... because he was outright disrespectful and I thought I could get him to change. He didn't, I ended up leaving and then he told everyone "we just didn't get along and argued too much". lol. Kills me. Meanwhile 3 yrs later he calls me to say "I didn't treat you right and I'm sorry about that". Like... I tried to tell you! BUT it was a lesson and now my energy is SO much different and men know from the get go because I will just remove myself quietly when I see or receive any disrespect. They don't even get in... and that was my lesson. I had let someone "have me" without any real commitment on his part and then I was mad about the non-commitment and lack of care. And that's on me for even letting a man have me enough to allow it :)

I love how you said this! Not every man is like that and you shouldn’t put up with it! You are so feminine and your advice is so needed! Manipulative men are so effeminate but desperate to appear masculine, or whatever makes them feel powerful to make you miserable, and yes!, the number one thing you will notice about all of them is they will put you down, usually they have got a lot of practice doing this while others are not watching and then they gaslight you or try to make intimidate you to make you look and feel as miserable and crazy as possible.😂 Gaslight is a good movie for understanding this. There are immature mean boys and girls that do this to mess around with you, till a nice old man gets them and brings them out of bad company (bad company of both old and young people that are a bad influence) and the other kind of crazy making comes from the evil narcissists that know what they are doing to you, but both are a waste of your time. None of them fully understand how bad there behavior is though. They are both a waste of time.

Thank you for posting this video. I learned how to set my boundaries the hard way after a disastrous relationship. I thought my bar was already high then. Boy was I wrong! Being the “nice” girl got me in trouble. He started as a “nice” guy who planned my birthday celebration a few days after he met. As time went by, he started disrespecting me. The last straw was when he called me a nasty name at a wedding just because I was not attentive to my daughter. (I was a bridesmaid after all, and people watched her when I had to be away from her.) Since then, I raised the bar for relationships way up, so only true gentlemen are allowed in my territory. Your video would have saved me from a horrible relationship, but it never hurts to be reminded over and over. By the way, I love your red dress. ♥️💐

Omg, i had this one friend and weve been friends for like 6 years (i finally cut her off and can u believe it she literally left school because of me thats so funny 💀) and she would make me feel so bad about myself and then say its a joke and im being sensitive, and i didnt even know that having boundaries is a thing and that cutting people out was a thing so i just endured it until one day i realized damn i have no boundaries at all and i started calling her out on her disrespecting me but then she said she wouldnt do it again sorry blah blah blah and i gave her 2863926429639362 chances over and over again because i was afraid of cutting her out. I set boundaries, yet i didnt act on them. I was all bite and no bark. And i think thats the problem with many people out there, either they dont even know what boundaries are or they just dont act on boundaries bc of fear. I tried to change her, i tried to make her a better person but why? Why did i do it, why did i spend my effort and precious energy on someone i didnt even like being around just for their personality? Well of course, i felt bad and guilty. So i used the past as an excuse to stay friends just to not feel guilty or scared of being alone, i used our 6 years of friendship ad an excuse. I thought cutting people out was such a cruel horrible thing, being confident was arrogant, loving urself was a sin, having boundaries was rude and self-centered. But look at me now, i cut out 3 close friends out of my life who were extremely toxic and i feel so free. I dont feel anything towards them, i forgave them. But im happy without them and im not letting them back into my life ever again. And im not going back to my past self ever, ever again. Im proud of myself for doing all this bc it was really scary and uncomfortable. Everyone whos in a toxic relationship, just know that there are thousands, millions, quadrillions of people out there who want to be ur friend/partner and will actually treat you the way u want to be treated. And whatever u need to do to get out, do that because i promise you iy will pay off. It may not be easy but it will be worth it. Surround urself with amazing people who truly elevate u, make u a better person and who u feel happy around. Dont let random people into ur life who dont benefit u in any way and only suck up ur time and energy. Not everyone deserves to be in ur presence. Ur amazing, ur a precious gem and u deserve only the best of the best. Period.

In non-dating scenarios or even dating-wise perhaps, if things are organic, because I pay my way/pull my weight, I am certain. Because I am certain, I am confident. And because I am confident, I can say no effectively, show not tell. The earning of the right to do things one way or the other is actually real and critically important. It is part of the process of confidence, even to the self, and also to the world, if not to the specific other party in the moment. Though in the long term it is the thing that also works with them, especially when they apologise later, learn to respect you and you get to befriend them. The non-transactional sharing and generosity, and the blurring of lines of give-and-take will come only later. In the beginning, it is only fair to be scrupulous about equality of responsibility. And, at least theoretically, in the end, the give and take balances out in terms of difference in roles.

I love all the information in this video and loved the clips of a film you put in here as well. What’s the name of the film?
