It is criminally insane that you only have 1,800 subscribers. Your video production quality is off the charts, your storytelling is fantastic and bonus points for sounding like Anthony Bourdain. I just subscribed and turned on notifications because you're amazing and I hope more people find you... and maybe even give you your own travel show! Great job!

@@ahamadkhan3569 yes, in the cities & the Algarve, that's possible. however, PT gov does offer free classes, as they really want people to speak the language. i have passed the A1 and my wife is taking A2 (for citizenship). we know enough 'português' to get by when shopping, getting our driving license, or traveling to the smaller towns of the Beira Interior or the Alto Alentejo. life in Portugal has been wonderful.

I searched info about Lisbon and found your vdo. I was dazzled why your channel didn’t have more followers. The info is practical, the script is well written, and the editing is proper and fun to follow. Social world popularity these days is weird, the mass follow many shallow self-proclaimed influencers. Keep on the good work please. If you got another vdo landing on Porto or other Portugal cities, I’m sure to come back.

Hi there neighbor (we live in the same area). Finally I see some justice done to this very much underrated city. And above all it’s a great feeling to see someone showing the sights and soul of Lisboa with such authenticity and enthusiasm. Sometimes all we need it’s just to take the time to learn to appreciate it. The rest, well it might just pop up around the corner I kind of have a love & hate thing towards the city I chose to call home, over two decades ago, mainly because of how much it has changed over the last 10 years. At a moment I thought it had lost it’s soul and and authenticity for good and it had become a victim of its own success But after watching your video I believe there’s still hope 😅 Thank you for that. Great work 💪🏼

Wow, thanks for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the episode. You know, it's funny - even though this was our first time going to Lisbon, that was my feeling as well, that it's changed a lot in recent years. It felt a lot more modern and 'big, hip capital city' than we were expecting it to. But like I said in the outro - I don't feel like it's necessarily a bad thing. It feels like a city that's masterfully blending its historic roots with a much more contemporary sensibility. It's a hard thing to do, but I feel they're doing it in style. Thanks so much for watching!

É certo que em termos de tamanho é menor do que as que mencionei mas em termos de oferta (cultural, gastronómica, visita de sítios de interesse histórico, clima etc) está na linha da frente e raramente é levada em consideração como primeira escolha

Next time you should go to the Parque das Nações area, I think that it is an area that is still not very well known by tourists, but it shows another side of the city, a more modern part that is, the gigantic aquarium there is definitely worth visiting.

Hoping to spend a day around Parque das Nações next month. Any recommendations for where to eat in that area? :)

@@AnneAlready Honest Greens, ZeroZero, The Green Affair (if you’re vegan), Le Brasserie d’Entrecôte and there is a shopping mall there called Vasco da Gama that has an interesting food court although it is quite uncomfortable because of its small size.

As a portuguese I can only say "OBRIGADO" You managed to make a piece that capture a bit off what is to be portuguese, what is Lisbon, what is saudade and Fado. Thank you, Obrigado

Hi! I suppose it depends on the preparation and recipe, but none of the bacalhau we tried was overly salty or "fishy". I do hope you get a chance to try it, it is delicious. Have fun in Lisbon and thanks for watching! :)

Great video, thanks for showcasing Lisbon. I've subscribed since I like the manner you've organized the video. Not too long and straight to the point. Fun unrelated fact, last year they were filming an action spy Netflix movie in Baixa around Praça do Comercio! I remember it clearly because I have never seen Lisbon in movies in such a manner, people kept commenting that it was Fast & Furious 10, because all the car action involved. For anyone that may ask, Heart of Stone - with a supposed release date in August 2023, in the preview they released you can clearly see Lisbon in some parts.

Thanks for subscribing. It really helps our channel reach a wider audience on KZbin. I had no idea that so many movies were filmed in Lisbon. I guess it makes sense, the city is so beautiful.

The traditional way to eat Pastéis de Belém include putting a bit of cinnamon and fine sugar on top. They get way more special… if you have the opportunity to go there again, don’t forget this.

Just a tip from a local for next time you stop by: use abundant quantities of olive oil when eating any kind of fish, even more so if its octopus or any of its cousins like squids or whatever. Hell, use it with any food! Where i come from there is even a dish where grilled pork is flavoured with olive oil, garlic and parsley.

Awesome tip, and something we will definitely do next time we're there! I will say - the olive oil anywhere on the Iberian peninsula is unlike anything I've ever tasted in my life. It's a completely different product that you really don't get anywhere in the US - it's rich, bold, peppery and absolutely a condiment in its own right. It blew our minds. You guys really know how to do food properly. Thanks for watching!

When you presented the city of Lisbon, you had the lovely idea of mixing several crucial aspects of the Portuguese culture: not only the views and food but the essence of the Portuguese culture: the "saudade", cultural diversity and the unbreakable connection to the sea. The fado singer had African traits, for example. And even our genetics is related to Africa, among other ethnies you mentioned. If anyone tries to compare us to Spain is wrong. Only Galicia and Portugal have the same roots. By the way, in Portuguese we say "Bairro", not "Barrio", like tne Spaniards do. Thank you.

So I like this city so far, but it is far too overcrowded even in slow season. We stood outside the monastery for an hour today (a Wednesday) just to get inside with our so called fast track of the Lisboa card. Beautiful venue, but toooooo busy. I didn’t even try going up Belem Tower because of a similarly long line.

The video is great, your accent is one of the best I've heard. But please, read our J like an english J, not like the spanish one. Although almost 50% of our vocabulary is shared with Spanish, when we speak it... It is totally different. Please don't mix both languages. Great video.
