Visiting in November had really temperate weather, being from Colorado you'd probably find it warm. Make sure you do that Sintra day trip and make your way down the coast to Lagos!

Time Out Market is brilliant and your choices there were wise. My personal favorite is Miguel Castro e Silva. I also recommend the octopus salad (chef Henrique Sá Pessoa), the octopus hot dog (Sea Me) and some pink tonic (Taylor's) to wash it all down.

Setubal Peniche Sesimbra Aveiro Espinho Afurada Matosinhos Vila do Conde Ponta de Lima There are so many cities and towns. Let me know where you are staying and I will try to suggest good restaurants

Another tip: near Time Out Market, take the boat (cacilheiro) to Almada and try some sea food at O Farol (The Lighthouse).

only one other place I can recommend but it's hidden away. It's called Frangasqueira Nacional in R. Impresa Nacional 11am to 3pm then 6pm till late. It's inside Travessa do Monte do Carmo intersecting with Rua de Sao Marcal. It's a very narrow area cars can't fit in this street. It's really hidden away you park off rua da escola politecnia and go down r. Sao Marcal and turn right into r. Monte do Carmo and it's like right there. They cook amazing no frills barbequed chook with chips and the great prices for the quality that you are getting. It's brazilian portuguese couple that run the show and they're always busy. A must place for takeaway or sit down. They kick a goal with both feet with this place the oil they use and the spices are amazing. Please try it and review it and I'll pretend I'm eating there through time travel.😂😂😂😂 Great video by the way.

@@JasonVaughan I noticed that too ;) Not a huge deal, but as a parent (with kids your age) I was feeling an urge to correct you! In some shots, it looked like you were holding the fork like a club (the way you would hold a tennis racket); a more appropriate way is to hold it like you would hold a pen. That being said, it was fun watching you enjoy Lisbon's food. We were there 5 years ago, and we are going back soon. Although watching you walk up all those stairs reminded me of the one part of Lisbon my wife complained about - so many hills !! (I liked it, as I felt my legs were getting lots of exercise)

Bro I don’t want to be very critical but Portuguese are very “protective “ with their food and their places to eat proper Portuguese food and like all the Portuguese I’m one of them. Please don’t say it’s the ultimate food tour in Lisbon and go to time out market and tin food restaurants. Like I’m Portuguese and I live in Sydney, it’s the same I’m calling my vídeo the ultimate Sydney food tour and eat around china town and darling harbour, it just doesn’t make sense. Don’t take me wrong, your video is very good but call it another thing. If you want the ultimate food tour around Lisbon ask someone who knows Lisbon and the right spots to go and I’m sure you would be shocked to see that time out market for example it’s just a tourist trap comparing what real Lisbon food tour has to show .

Thank you for taking the time to comment. This video is all about exposing different types of great food in Lisbon, whether super traditional or not. The TimeOut Market is an exceptional food market with an electric atmosphere and a top place for people to visit. Sol E Pesca was rated highly by the late and great Anthony Bourdain himself and a completely different food experience to what can be achieved in many countries. I'm exploring as a foreigner so I'll admit I don't have that local knowledge. A lot of these restaurants I'm visiting for the first time so I can only work off what I've heard and been recommended before. As for the Sydney example, I would not hesitate to visit China Town and Darling Harbour as (1) Chinese food is extremely prevalent in the make-up of Australia's national food identity and (2) I don't put a blanket rule and say the food is bad because the area is tourist heavy. Good food is good food and it doesn't matter where it's from. In saying that, I'd love to spend more time in Lisbon and learn more about the importance of Portuguese food culture in the city and try the truly local spots. If you have suggestions I am all ears! 3 days was not even remotely close to giving it a proper crack. Plus I need to smash Cervejaria Ramiro many more times before I die 🦞

Ramiro is one of the best places to eat seafood in Lisbon for sure my friend and it's an Lisbon born and created (til now lol) citizen who is saying it! And now in Portuguese! O restaurante Ramiro é um dos melhores se não o melhor para se comer marisco! Ramiro não tem nada de turístico, nunca foi e não é um sítio para turistas. Só a poucos anos é que os turistas começaram a frequentar o restaurante em força mas os preços continuam acessíveis a todos. Trabalhei na Avenida Almirante Reis durante anos (desde o principio dos anos 90 até princípios de 2000s) e costumava lá ir jantar depois de sair do trabalho e aquela casa estava sempre cheia e só com Tugas, ainda hoje a maioria dos clientes que lá vão são tugas! Eu sou uma pessoa com pouco e mesmo assim ainda frequento esse restaurante e posso dizer que é como outro restaurante qualquer em qualquer outra zona de Lisboa mas com muito boa comida no menu é claro! Ramiro não mudou quase em nada e continua a ser um restaurante para todos e não só para estrangeiros como vês noutras zonas do País (Algarve um deles btw)! Um bem haja Alfacinha para Sydney. Portuguese don’t have “street food”. For the most part. Not part of our culture. That is restaurant food. Kind of like going to a food court in a mall and calling it street food. But nice video of a super touristy area.

@@JasonVaughan He might mean food that it's actually sold on the street. The most famous one would be "Bifana", which is the pork version of the Prego you had. We Portuguese tend to associate street food with food sold on food trucks.

Fair enough, I get this. The first sandwich I had was a Bifana and although it didn’t come from the “street”, I’d still call it street food although I can understand if this is different in Portuguese culture. Thanks for taking the time to explain Paulo

Indoor restaurant food/meals are not street food. Sorry but your recommendations are all thoroughly touristic establishments and pretty much overpriced meals. You need a bit more traveling round to places, countries known for real street food!

I respectfully disagree, market food is certainly a form of street food. This is a different world to a place like south-east Asia with literal street side vendors. I've visited quite a bit of Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, Japan) and have tried a bit. Thank you for watching!

Reminder, he is a tourist. We’re all pretty much tourists when we travel to other places except when visiting “home”. How are tourists who have a few days in a certain place meant to scout out all the hidden gems? There’s something called local knowledge. Visitors often don’t possess this so go easy on those sharing their experiences. I agree market food on SE Asia is street food. Check out the hawker market in Singapore. The market just provides you with multiple options for good.
