The defense attorney was truly bullying Audrey. When he interrupted her and prosecution asked to ask one more question, he told her no. I think that was wrong - the witness should have been allowed to finish answering the question defense asked her! She came across to me as someone not only naive but truly afraid. She ended the "friendship" after she learned that both Charles and Tammy had died after being "cast" - no wonder she was afraid!!!

Holy shat balls. Ya that Audrey's testimony was the most believable thing I have heard the entire trial. Great job. Sometimes life is hard and we need something to hold on to, so when something that initially seems good, there is a part of us that wants (or maybe even needs) to believe it. I think this is where Audrey was coming from initially. It sounds like her gut (or what I would call God) was quietly telling her something was off. If she is anything like me, sometimes it takes me a while to really listen. You push it off again and again. We are all vulnerable in different ways, and so to outsiders it may seem "crazy" to go along with Lori at all. But none of us are in her shoes. I mean, I have been known to ignore God and marry someone😂😂 that people on the outside knew was crazy (thanks for telling me, friends). I hope Audrey will find peace knowing she did the right thing when it came down to the wire. Does it actually sound crazy to be terrified of Lori's threats knowing she either conspired to or committed murder against her own children? Dismembering them in the most brutal and evil way? Nope. Lori is no simple, harmless woman. She is actually a straight-up murdering psychopath.... arguably worse than a serial killer, spree killer etc etc. Cause she killed her children. Brother. Spouses. At this point, I am gonna call Audrey nothing short of heroic.

Wow. Audrey is really scared!!! This was not faked... she is traumatized and afraid of Lori. Being there in the courtroom must have been excrutiating for her. She can be thankful that she dodged that bullet. Poor woman. Yes, she was naive. Being a former member of the LDS church, I have experienced this lack of empowerment of women within the church quite often. It is a certain form of meekness and humility that the members strive for. Unfortunately, sometimes these women forget to develop their own sense of self and it might even be discouraged at home etc. I felt terrible listening to her testimony. She must have freaked out when she found out everything about her "friend" Lori. :(

Yes. Religion does so much harm to women. And to everyone. And there’s no good reason to believe in any of it! It’s just a destructive force in the world. Hopefully we will leave it in the past with all the other ancient myths that no longer serve us. Most of us don’t believe in werewolves, ghosts or dragons, a flat earth or pixies any more. We don’t think it’s a virtue to be gullible and superstitious in most areas of our lives. Hopefully religion will go the same way.

All religions are based on stuff people interpreted and made up and not on any good evidence. That’s why there are literally two thousand types of Christianity and thousands of other religions. Every tribe made up reasons for disasters happening. It’s a human thing to hope that you can prevent disasters by rituals and praying etc. it doesn’t matter a bit who you are praying to. You just get comfort by thinking someone magical is taking care of you and protecting you. It’s comforting to think that bad things happen if you are bad and if you just do things right, you will be okay. This is why there is no good evidence for any religion. It’s all make believe. Which is fine if you don’t try to impose it on others. If these people had just kept their delusions to themselves and not killed others, it wouldn’t be any different then any other religion.

@halima k When I was 10 years old, I lived in rural Tenn with 3 teenage sisters My sisters met 2 LDS missionaries who were in our neighborhood, on bikes, talking to any families who would listen to them about the book of Morman beliefs. My sisters were smitten with these cute young men from Idaho & Utah, and these missionaries were smitten with my mama and her Southern hospitality of making sure everyone had enough to eat. So they ate meatloaf, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and biscuits, add homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, corn bread and sweet tea, topped off with any berry cobbler and ice cream. We made best friends and actually attended the LDS church many times with them. Being a Baptist we knew the Morman book and the Bible did not line up with our beliefs so when the guys 2 years was up we saw them go back home. But we were friends for a long time. I feel LDS are searching for Prophets in this day and time, and are easily led by any false prophets like Chad and Lori. Then common sense may kick in like in this sweet Audrey's did. I am not a Morman but I have never met any sweeter peace loving families as I did in our friends from the LDS church.

I agree. Chad probably knew that Audrey was vulnerable and needed a friend, so that's why he asked her to befriend Lori. Twisted. He knew Audrey would be easy to manipulate. Some people are naturally trusting, and want to believe the best about people, just like some people are naturally suspicious and it takes a long time to gain their trust. I think maybe Audrey wanted friends badly enough to overlook some weirdness for awhile, so that she could vacation in Hawaii and have LDS ladies to hang out with. Then, she finally decided enough was enough and stopped believing Lori's cookoo ideas. It is hard for a nonconfrontational person to stand up to someone with a charismatic personality like Lori and Melani P. seemed to have.

I can 100% picture Lori standing there in the room alone with Audrey, and saying those exact words to her, and meaning them completely. By this point her brother has already taken out her husband and her two children, and Chad's wife. The comment about all the blood and trash bags likely came from Alex Cox recounting to her the horrors of trying to dismember Tylee, and what a mess it made. At this point in time Lori fully believes she is some celestial being with the protection and powers of God on her side. Audrey of course didn't know everything that had happened by this point, but her intuition was telling her she was in real danger, and she listened. I absolutely believe she could have very well been killed down the road, had Kay not set the search for JJ in motion when she did. Nevermind Melanie P's kids! Ugh. This trial has done a crap job of separating the crazy beliefs from the real ones. All the dark, evil, castings and ritualistic crap they did could actually cause you to lose your church membership. LDS is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is largely focused on our relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ, God. Jesus died for our sins in order to make it possible for us to see Him again. We also believe in temple marriage which are not the typical "til death do us part", but a marriage that keeps your family in tact after death. We believe in an afterlife. We DO NOT believe the multiple lives, being multiple people. That is pretty opposite considering each of us have a spirit unique to only us. This might be the dumb explanation. We get baptized in order to take upon the name of Christ and keep trying our best throughout our lives, and we renew this covenant or promise to God each Sunday as we partake of the sacrament. Cult. They believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers. The reason they have temple's is so they can baptize dead people. When they die they believe they're going to get their own planet and become a god/goddess. Besides the super wierd satanic ritual of baptizing dead people, they practice secret handshakes so they can get into heaven. They also get a new name they have to remember. If they don't remember their new name, the handshake, and what to say .... they won't make it in.

That's a broad generalization. Sometimes life is hard and we need something to hold on to, so when something initially seems good, there is a part of us that wants (or maybe even needs) to believe it. I think this is where Audrey was coming from initially. It sounds like her gut (or what I would call God) was quietly telling her something was off. If she is anything like me, sometimes it takes me a while to really listen. You push it off again and again. We are all vulnerable in different ways, and maybe she was at a really low and weak point in her life? In general, I do sometimes think Mormons can focus on not offending and just being "kind", when in reality there is nothing Godly about being "kind" when it's appropriate to call people out. You find this in all walks of life. Just look at how pedophiles get away with it because no one has the balls to speak up. There was a teacher at our school who was a perv, and people in my family openly supported the victim (even though they had no relation to us but it was the right thing to do!) The majority of people just put their heads in the sand. The few supportive people were nearly ostracized, or called "unforgiving" towards the perv. In reality, they were using Christianity as a crap excuse for being a coward. Because no God or Jesus of mine looks the other way when kids are being abused. So long answer... generally not passive but a lot of people can oddly become passive when faced with the real dirty work. I mean look how many people followed along with the Covid mask mandate and vaccines. This od a large scale example of how passive the majority of people are. The government proved it. In no America 4 years ago would it be tolerated to mandate and experimental vaccine. Maybe in and of itself understandable if they did none of their own research. People did not only follow Fauchi, they oddly became almost like cult followers who vilified anyone who didn't get vaxed or wear a mask. So ya,, I guess not just Mormons are passive, the whole freaking damn world is! 😢

There have been some horrific crimes committed in the last decade but this case is by far the most heinous, cold blooded, brutal crime story that has happened. I wonder what the defense attorney will try to achieve with Lori’s case; a not guilty verdict, a light sentence. She has already been spared the death penalty. She is not fit to live amongst society so if she gets off or a light sentence, she should be Archibald’s friend or neighbor.
@marthahicks8569 Жыл бұрын
I mostly agree. The scope of this case is worse but the cruelty of the Chris Watts case rivals this one. He was a "family man" who snuffed out the lives of his whole family.
