a interesting fact bout "The River" this song talk a bit bout sexism and she wrote it when saw the man suicide chart is 3x bigger than woman's one and how the sexism affects it, there's an interview she said it and things chauvinism preaches like men can not cry or feel some feelings cuz it makes them less manly and bla bla bla and that's why chorus is "you can cry"
@anthonygemayel9429
@anthonygemayel9429 3 жыл бұрын
It is sexist, not in the sense of "oh men are so persecuted" but more like crying is considered a feminine trait and when a man cries it's considered a weakness because it relates to femininity, so you do have a point.

I think the album's covers meanings are: Infections of a different kind is a more individual and personal album, and A different kind of human talks more about our actions in the world, and how we humans affect others and the mother earth, and that's why the Infections of a different kind cover is her pointing at her heart and in A different kind of human she is pointing at the outside world. Btw she released a song called Exist for Love as a start of the new era, and it is a totally different sound of everything she has already released, you need to check this out. She did a live stream yesterday and it seems like the new era will have a "Witch vibe" I am pretty excited to listen to her new era. Btw, I loved your reaction as always.💜

@@Idontlikeyousoshutthefuckup Well, I apologize for the 10-month late reply HEHEHEHE but my list now would be the same except The Gods We Can Touch being in last place, my least favorite album. Quite a handful of songs on the record were lackluster or flawed in different aspects, might it be in the mixing aspect (Aurora's voice on the last chorus of Heathens is too muffled in the instrumentation), song length (majority of the songs could've been longer), etc. Debut definitely has more gratifying songs, but a lack of sonic variety (some of the songs sound a bit too similar to each other). Infections and ADKOH both have sonic variety and gratifying songs and more, so that's why they're at the top of my list.
@noahs5636
@noahs5636 3 жыл бұрын
Soulless Creatures feels like a commentary on how cruel humans can be. The chorus states “I would be fine if I can’t find anything to save our kind.” To me, this feels like she would be content with the end of humanity because of how evil we can be to each other and the planet we call home. The earth would thrive again and would be a better place without us.
@lauraelise434
@lauraelise434 3 жыл бұрын
fun fact: she accidentally wrote 2 different choruses for soulless creatures, and first realized it after recording the song so the the 1st and 3rd chorus is the same, and the 2nd is the odd one out lol

Listening to the albums is great. But the real experience start when you start to watch her life performances, especially studio versions. They are so good. If you think Infections (the track) is comforting, then imagine it with Aurora sitting on the floor just smiling at you. Or the whole Nidarosdomen concert, where she is basically an angel in a church. And she is always pitch perfect, so lots of her performances are even better than the album versions. There is just so much I would want for you to see. Not to mention the covers. You will be trippin over her version of Ari's God is a Woman. And Life on Mars. Oh, I'll stop now.

Fun fact about the animal song, this is what Aurora had to say about it: “ANIMAL for me is a very ironical song. It’s raw because we are raw, it’s sensual because nature is sensual. It’s wrong and strange because the world is wrong and strange. It’s free because we should be free. There is a lot of things I hate about us, (next to all the things I love) and part of me hate the industrial part of the music industry. And that is exactly why the song had to sound the way it did. Because it’s a way for me to make. A bit fun of it. Still Aurora, but with elements form that world. For me, It amplifies the irony in all of it. The world we all have mixed feelings about. Because it’s so easy to show people something horrible, something deep and we still choose what we want to see. And that is the must fun thing with it all.”

Seeing Aurora live is a real gift if you can go after Covid. She not only prices her concerts low so everyone can attend (my ticket was about $20 when I went) her concerts just feel like a family even though you have never met everyone there before. She dances on stage during her songs but not choreographed, just freely out of enjoyment and at some point she always removes her shoes to be more free. She talks to the audience in between songs, tells little (often weird) stories and will even stop the concert to sing happy birthday to someone in the audience. Just being part of that audience when I went felt like magic and everyone was just so free to be themselves. I found myself dancing with perfect strangers. Also when I went, she played Queendom as an encore, brought out a pride flag from back stage and dedicated the song to the LGBT people in the audience (Aurora is also LGBT and has dated both men and women but doesn't label her sexuality).

This is definitely a different generation than mine. Waiting excitedly, anticipating a new release of a great artist, hooking up to the computer and witnessing this new composition in front of thousands of people. Getting ready, queuing up the album, and listening to it on a freaking Alexa speaker? God bless us, in my day this would have been sacrilege. Headphones or cranked to the max, they were the only two choices. It's a new day.

You should definitely watch her live performances. The way she moves and her facial expressions are definitely a part of her performance. Also, the seed music video is so powerful, it's also a must see.

You're interpretation of the album covers definitely makes sense, Aurora has said step one is a more individual work and is about healing your inner self and step two looks outward on the world and other people and how you can help the world ones you've healed yourself :) I love your reactions welcome to our Aurora family

Awesome reaction! There’s a few singles you could react to. Exist For Love is the latest one, released after this album. And there’s three I know of that we’re released before the first EP: Under Stars, Awakening, and Puppet. The entire concert at Nidarosdomen is out of this world amazing as well.

To me Mothership sounds like we are inside a womb of our mother, possibly Aurora, now safe from all harm and pain. We have exhaled all the pain and are leaving the world behind, ready to be reborn again stronger, thus taking us back to Step I, ready to fight again with Queendom. Step I and Step II have a cyclical nature to them, and it's about contrasts, between life and death, inhaling to accept/heal our pain and then exhaling with hope and strength.

AAAAAAAAAA I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I GOT THIS VIDEO RECOMMENDED! i don't know if you've listened to the running with the wolves ep, but in bottles is actually a sequel to the song in boxes from that project! they're supposedly written from the perspective of a real person, but they're also really good as a duo of songs about the dark side of human connection and i feel like listening to them together is a really good experience :)

im only 7 minutes into this video but i have to say that it's so hard finding a favorite project of Aurora's. they are all amazing in their own right, but definitely have completely different vibes. all my demons one is perfect for sad cold winter nights, step one is celebratory but reflective like dancing while crying, step two is more anthem like and the biggest party of her projects while still hitting all the truth bombs lyrically. personally my favourite changes with the seasons and my mood, and i kinda feel like step two is underrated right now. as Aurora has said you have to come to terms with step one before you can really start working on the themes in step two and i personally think a lot of fans are still a bit stuck in step one which is totally valid

In bottles is a continuation of in boxes It talks about a woman who kills men and keeps their body parts in boxes. In in bottles finally find out about her crimes, then she goes to jail (in the live version of the song you can hear the police sirens, but for some reason she took it from the studio version)

There's a song on her upcoming album (out 21st January 2022) that is called Exhale Inhale and with you bringing up the album covers I've just connected that. So exciting! It's also the 8th track (not including the intro) and the 8th track is always a special one to her.

I just realised how recurrent is the concept of Home in Auroras work, like in Runaway she wants to escape and get to home so she can achieve comfort and safety, in Home she kind of goes around the idea of being at home or even being home itself and in ADKOH and Mothership shes that entity thats taking people to the home they belong to. And she probably talks about it in more songs be it directly or indirectly
THE GODS WE CAN TOUCH... holy sh*t.
