After watching the documentary "Aurora Once", you get the feeling that "Demons..." was a heavily producer controlled album, to the point that there are songs Aurora will not perform anymore. The next two albums Aurora took control a lot more, and in turn, are more unique.

@AL I may have unintentionally exaggerated; in the doc, she refused her record producer to do an encore with Conquer, later stating she didn't want to perform that song anymore. It is an interesting documentary. You could see how the music industry had a totally different idea about who Aurora was going to be compared to what she envisioned. Really worth a watch.
@jazoon7249
@jazoon7249 3 жыл бұрын
@AL the whole documentary was about her getting out from under the control of the music executives around creation of Infections of a Different Kind. Not Magnus, who is her actual producer and also drummer. She worked hand in hand with him. The executives were constantly asking for a radio single, something that can be played on the radio and constantly throwing deadlines at her, trying to rush the process. At least that is how I viewed it. The execs came to several shows and were trying to control setlists and such.

His songs have a lot of emotional lyrics(especially in his second album), and his VOICE. OMG. Enjoyed your reaction -- I personally especially like "Runaway" (the song that inspired Billie Eilish to become an artist) and "Winter Bird." AURORA's next album continues her artistic journey: Step 1 and Step 2 are each themed collections, and the music is quite varied, as she explores different soundscapes and beats. I think you'll really like these. But what I really want to say is that her live performances are on another level entirely! For instance, "The Seed" from the HAIK 2019 concert she held in a forest; or "It Happened Quiet," "Through the Eyes of a Child," or "Little Boy in the Grass" from the Nidarosdomen Christmas Concert in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble and choir; and for high energy, the KEXP concert in Iceland, where she sings "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside!" These are just a few suggestions -- at age 24, she already has quite an impressive repertoire. Also check out her cover of Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman," David Bowie's "Life on Mars," Massive Attack's "Teardrop," Leonard Cohen's "The Partisan," Alanis Morissette's "Thank U," and John Lennon's "Across the Universe."

Home is actually one of my favorite songs. Let me see if I can explain it a little. For me, this song is about survival and hope. A lot of people get caught up in the burdens of living, have had unpleasant things happened to them, or become so broken that they're thrown into a state of survival and when you're in that state, you can't really function that well, and you forget what it means to live. You just exist, trying to survive from day to day. But even in that state, for some reason, people don't give up. They still keep a small flame of hope that things can get better, that the people can still be kind and that bad situations can get better. It's facing disillusionment with hope. The doesn't change much about what you're going through. The bad things will still happen. But its a reason to keep going. And there's the comfort in knowing that there's millions of other people going through the journey like you are, experiencing what it means to be human. You are home, in this body, in this experience and that in and of itself is a beautiful thing...I don't think I explained it well but I hope that clears up things a little...

Through the eyes of the child is one of my favourite AURORA songs. There is a saying that childchood is the most magical time of your life but that usually refers to the fact that children just don't have many responsibilities while AURORA refers to childhood as the time when we are the most perceptive and open to other peoples fealings. There are just some things that children notice easily while adults struggle to unerstand them. This song is a reminder of that time. Even if the song is sad it strikes me more as a hopeful feeling. Overall I think sadness is one of the most beautifull feeling since its so complex and deep. PS. Nature Boy is a cover, the original is by Nat King Cole.

You should definitely listen to the acoustic version of 5,4,3,2,1(murder song) it’s just such a powerful song.

Aurora is one of those artists who seems to be simultaneously very popular and yet sort of unknown? I think her fans are very loyal and a lot of non-fans have heard her at least in passing. Like in 2015 I used to work at Starbucks and their playlist had her song Runaway playing like every day. And she has backing vocals in Frozen II. She's sort of operating in the background, famous but not enough of a household-name. People will ask you to react to artists they want to get a boost up in fame so it makes sense everyone asks for her. She's also just........ so fun to see reactions to.

also Infections is my fav project of her , because the way she is using parrellism between lyrics and sound is beautiful and that album is pure art. My tip for that album pay attention to the lyrics, and listen to the production.....its sooo magnificent . btw love your videos
