So the idea is that the PM should be able to just focus on the job without worrying about financial ruin if they are voted out and unemployment. The possible conflict of interest would be doing favours for donors etc. in exchange for employment. Like what David Cameron did when he became a lobbyist. It's supposed to reduce corruption

Liz Truss told a US audience three years ago that the impact of a no-deal Brexit on Ireland would only "affect a few farmers with turnips in the back of their trucks," As an Irish person, I found that offensive. One of the things that made me proud to be British, was the absolutely stellar conduct of the majority of winners and losers from this election. Chief among these course being the speeches from Sunak and Starmer... recognition, respect and reconciliation - both ways. I have no time for Liz Truss, but she will not receive £117,000 a year. She has access to an expenses account of £117,000 per annum from which she can claim expenses involved in being an ex-prime minister, eg the travel expenses involved when she travelled to the USA to share a platform with the egregious Steve Bannon.
