I never, EVER, eat cold cuts. It's been years since I bought Boar's Head. Wouldn't you know I bought Boar's Head turkey breast for my husband and me on a whim a month ago. And, of course, it was in the timeframe of the recall. Ugh! We prayed, and so far, no illness, thank God. I think we need to be constantly praying over all our food now. Once again, thanks for all the great info in this video!

Thank you for highlighting listeria. I would like to add that blanching greens before freezing will kill this bacteria before freezing. I’ve never counter commented on content makers not blanching, say, green beans before freezing because they seem to have all the knowledge (power) they feel necessary to bring up a family. Anyway, when handling non-preblanched vegetables and fruits from the freezer one should treat it like raw meat and wash one’s hands and utensils before touching anything else. Listeria (like all bacteria handled by microbiologists for research) is actually FROZEN for longevity to use in experiments. Listeria can also survive fridge temperatures. Making ice cream, for example, from handpicked frozen strawberries is not advisable for those at risk. Making jams and jellies is fine but treat the unfrozen fruit as if it is contaminated as you would meat before it’s heated during processing. Anyway, I just thought your viewers on this particular forum should know that listeria survives the freezing process. Here in the UK, recalls on frozen vegetables are not uncommon. Obviously, it’s also not good practice to use any form of composted manure in beds designated for growing salad greens. Especially if chickens contributed to the compost process however long the compost has been left maturing. Our family members have good immune systems, but I still handle vegetables and meat as if we have guests or someone is in the vulnerable early stage of pregnancy.

@@moonandmakery also known as rebel canning… it’s a short cut to cooking - if something’s supposed to be pressure canned, some people only water bath it… if something’s supposed to be water bathed, some people only pour it in the jar hot, pop on a lid, & consider it done. The proper canning would kill the bacteria… which I’m SO glad I learned about botulism from Pam before I succumbed to trying “short cuts” that could have a deadly effect.

I stopped sprouting seeds myself due to safety concerns. They're just too easy to get contaminated. Storebought sprouts at least are subject to regular controls by producer and authorities. @natviolen40212 ай бұрын
@@kitbaker1629 Honestly, I' don't know. The seeds may contain spores in advance and the humid environment creates perfect conditions for growth of bacteria, virusses and fungi. I don't feel that I can ensure a controlled environment at home to avoid this. Anyway, don't eat raw sprouts.

@carlynsykes60532 ай бұрын
I’m pretty confident that I had Listeria at one point but it was never diagnosed. TTDR: It can be easily missed in a regular blood test so they often recommend a spinal tap for listeria because it’s easier to tell. They just have to look a lot more carefully in blood. Over the course of a week was sent to the ER by my doctor and two different urgent care centers. From my symptoms which included nearly every one you read, those 3 different medical professionals all thought it might be encephalitis but 2 of 3 times I was sent home as fine. No treatment no nothing. Thing is my fever and the worst of the symptoms would rise and fall throughout the day. On the 3rd visit, this time finally to my regular doctor, after sitting for hours just miserable in the waiting room trying to stay upright and not vomit I was feeling a bit better by the time I saw the doctor and she was sending me home as fine, again! Then while waiting for the paperwork the fever spiked again and she watched the flush and almost hives creep down my throat and chest, took my temp again and sent me directly to the ER with a call ahead. Woah, scary now. That ER took me back to a private quarantine room took blood, gave me an IV and only freaked out that I hadn’t pooped in 8 days. They didn’t find anything wrong. They gave me narcotics for my head, 2 IV bags of fluids (the best medicine of it all!) and a horridly sweet bottle of something to make me go but I couldn’t get it down. Eventually I got better on my own. It started as nausea, stiff neck and a headache. I knew I still needed to eat so the only thing I was eating was salami and water just to get something in. Same salami I’d been eating all week with other foods but it was the last food before I stopped eating. But it quickly got worse. I was very sensitive to sound and light. I couldn’t eat and couldn’t drink more than a sip of water at a time and spent pretty much 2 weeks sleeping in the darkest quietest spot I could find. I never threw up and never vomited. It hurt to move, I hurt all over all the time. Worst thing I’ve endured.

I wouldn't be referencing any of those agencies. They work against humans and work for big pharma, big Agri instead. Farmers refer to the usda as the US duh. They swear the feed lot butti ng up against lettuce producers in AZ who flood the field to irrigate have nothing to do with the e. Coli outbreaks nearly every year late winter to early spring. Pay attention where it traces back to and grow your own lettuce. Listeria is the new e coli. There aren't enough inspectors. It's all a big joke. I guarantee your bacterial counts would have been much lower than the commercial products.
@PattyLU22 ай бұрын
I agree and I'm disappointed. This stuff has been around since the dawn. I'm confused as to why there is such a concern here if only 1600 people get it (reportedly) a year out of 346 million or so is just like the covid numbers. Like .002% death rate or whatever. Why worry about all this now when it's always been around? I just don't understand why this is even an issue. Seems more like basic middle school health class. Frustrating. And I'm way more concerned about chemical contamination of my food than "rare" bacterial contaminations. Think of just how often it happens? Miss Pam stated several times how rare it is! Stop the "Listeria hysteria"! It's also stated that Steramine should be applied, let sit then wipe off/rinse for any surface that food will touch. You don't just spray it on and let it dry then put food on it - but this will be in ref to the Steramine video Ugh!
@mburton24022 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if my question will be clear...when you talk about water contamination are you referring to water that may only have been sprayed on a plant, or can the contaminated water be picked up by the roots and travel into the fruit/vegetable? Melons and celery are high water content foods. I hate the idea of having to be overly concerned about eating non prepackaged fresh foods.
@lindas.80362 ай бұрын
Plants CAN pick up all kinds of nasty things through their roots. One of the last spinach recalls was due to watering with contaminated water. It is a hard thing to know if the water is "bad" without constant testing. It can happen anywhere, anytime. It can be something as innocent as a neighbor dumping toxic materials which can get into the local close water or dirt. Always wash exteriors of everything, even melons or bananas, so if they are cut the knife doesn't push baddies onto the cut surface of the food. Extreme care is good. Hysteria and obsession are not.

Im not undermining anything she's teaching about food safety, but, additionally, in the realm of keeping our immune systems as strong as possible, we learned during covid that vitamin d3 with k2 gives a strong boost to our immune system at all ages. Taking them together is absolutely key. 10,000iu of d3 WITH 125mcg of K2. If you want to go the exrra mile, 1000mg of C daily is not new knowledge, and dont let the naysayers tell you "youre just peeing it away." By that logic, we wouldn't drink water. However, its important to understand, these are prevention not cures. Vitamin d for example takes weeks to build up in our systems. These are lifestyle items not a reaction after exposure. Stay safe out there.

They sort out moldy berries and still give the plastic box to people. They do not know some folks have have weak immune systems. We are poor from paying for medical treatments. If we could afford to buy all our food we would not risk getting some of our food from food bank. There needs to be law that anyone that works with food go to safe handling education. The reason we’re seeing so many food recalls lately is because the USDA has been underfunded for years. They just don’t have the resources to hire and train enough inspectors to go out to these processing facilities regularly. Not to mention, their power to issue citations and fines have been limited and Republicans want to limit them even more. Of course a company can conduct business responsibly but it seems they don’t want to do that unless they are made to do that. It’s been reported that the Boars Head facility in Virginia was filthy and smelled of rotten meat and had visible mold. That’s completely uncalled for.

@arielwood14582 ай бұрын
As someone that was a boars head employee up until last year I will confirm that information is false. I absolutely hate this company but the facilities are very well maintained and cleaning is extremely high priority. Listeria happens when quality assurance doesn’t do their damn job. And sadly management, hr, and QA for this company are garbage and the entire place is ran like a high school. But USDA is on site every single night at every facility on every shift. We are not allowed to begin production until USDA has come out and inspected the floor, incoming product, machines, belts, vacuums, nets, stuffing horns, vats, combo boxes, ceilings, pass ways, any pallet jack or forklift and soooo much more. That being said this is failure to perform their job properly. This is 1000% on the boars head sanitation, quality, USDA, and management teams. I hate this company and went through absolute hell during my employment there. But there protocols are wonderful. They just keep hiring idiots who let way too many things slip by because of pure laziness. They simply don’t care anymore and that’s what lead to such a horrendous and deadly situation.

Dems have been in power. It is the dems running the beuacracy. Dems have controlled ALL levers of power the last 80 since WW2. Where have you been? Perhaps the dems in congress can explain to you the billions in foreign aid and to legal aliens?
@trajan69272 ай бұрын
Those dems want to cut out meat packaging fascilities. I guess you will feel better when Camel Toe is making you eat bugs and make meat illegal.

Dems have controlled the levers of government at all levels. Blame them.

I enjoy your presentations. However, I'm not buying your partial info presentation and continuing fearporn. To begin with, go to the bathroom every day! Put in both pro and prebiotics! Do you realize how much you are exposed to when you breathe?

Fearporn? I don't know. I always strive to gather as much information as possible and then make my own INFORMED decisions. If somebody warned me against jaywalking I would listen but definitely wouldn't choose to never leave the house again. I would possibly continue jaywalking, but keep my eyes open. If I were pregnant or mobility impaired, I wouldn't jaywalk at all. After all, there is no such thing as 100% security/safety,. But nobody says you have to take every risk.

Fearporn. How many ate divided by deaths. Go to the bathroom. Pro and prebiotics. Fearporn. Just like Covid and M(onkey)pox. BTW: does every jaywalker get run over. Pointless, irrelevant comment imo.

@@ld4467 I'm sorry that you consider my comment as being irrelevant. Please read carefully and digest what you read.

No you don’t! We managed for decades without government interference.

I am curious about your first sentence there. Is something wrong with sharing information about how to avoid Listeria? Especially if one is pregnant, Listeria can be a terrible thing.
@natviolen40212 ай бұрын
I'm always listening to people who know more on a subject than myself, be it a government agency or another source I trust.

Oh, good grief. So it's if a well-funded government agency researches and advises for safety, it's bad? Science and medicine are bad. Ignorance and refusal to change are good? Oh, wait. I forgot. "They" and "The Man" are out to get us! AARGH!
