Hope you had a great time, loving seeing people reactions to where I live. Today, they pulled out a 3.5 meter salt water croc from Wangi Falls, not too far from the water fall you visited, another reason why all the water holes are closed!

Well, I think you're both bonkers for touring northern Oz in the wet season 😅 but good on you for exploring the more remote parts of our Great Southern Land instead of sticking to the touristy parts 😊 Your van looks excellent.

Hey Ash and Kels. Really loving your travels through Aus, and am excited to see where you go to next. Kels, comparing you at Heathrow and now in Darwin, you've clearly had quite a lot of sun on your face. I hope you're keeping up the sunscreen, hats and sunnies. You, too, Ash.

Aussie tourists wait until the dry season in the middle of the year to go to the 'top end' as it's not so humid or rainy. The good thing for you two is that you had a lot of space/'elbow room' all to yourselves. Litchfield National Park with the waterfall is beautiful. We went to see it in the dry season , swam in the pool and around the waterfall, then bought the most delicious and tender steak sandwich from a lady cooking them in a van.(Psst. We call fields, 'paddocks'.)

Yeah we seen that from the research we did but took the risk! That sounds amazing, we’re gutted we couldn’t go down but it was still great to see if from the look out point! Ah really? Thanks for letting us know ☺️

A story about the Adelaide River area. In 1942, when Darwin was bombed it is not unfair to say, it was not the proudest day for our military. I hasten to say, it was not the fault of the soldiers and airmen, more bad management, panic and lack of training. The troops were ordered that they were to take themselves to a place of safety. It became known as the Adelaide River run. Personnel were commandeering civilian vehicles, there was wide spread looting, a lot of it done by Military Police, and the Administrator commandeered the 13 civilian police in the city to protect and remove his family, the wine collection at the residence and remove anything of value from there and move it to Alice Springs. Some military personnel took the order to get themselves to a place of safety to the next level and arrests were made several months later of AWOL personnel in places like Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne. It all in a book called An Awkward Truth by Peter Grose, well worth a read.

I am glad you guys are having such a good time in Australia. Honestly we can't get enough people from the UK to live, work and holiday in Australia. Our governments have started working on it but they need to work harder and faster at renewing the bond between the nations, since Britain is free again from the constraints of the EU and we have a lot of common objectives.
@donandrew3230
@donandrew3230 Жыл бұрын
Your 'governments' have also funded films such as "Rabbit-Proof Fence", and "Wolf Creek", which depict outback Australia as either having some enormous venomous spider, or a psychopathic "Ivan Milat"-like serial killer lurking behind every tree. JUST THE THING TO ATTRACT PROSPECTIVE UK TOURISTS, 'Mr D '!!! ...Eh, wot???

@@donandrew3230 Our ancestors who came out from Britain willingly to face the great unknown weren’t pussies. What about the stiff upper lip? Come on, we are talking about “Great” Britain aren’t we?

@@mrd4785 You've missed my point completely. Barbs were NOT aimed at those gutsy earlier Britons who willingly, but mostly "un"-willingly, faced a protracted "sea-bound" hell to get to Oz. As with the UK, now, Australia's most virulent enemies are WITHIN! Slagging off the country on film ISN'T THE WAY TO PUT EURO BOTTOMS ON PLANE SEATS!!

Great video, thanks. My wife and I had a driving holiday for our honeymoon and drove as far north as Townsville in Queensland. It was only part way through September, so only early Spring, but the humidity was just unbearable and in fact my wife became quite ill on the return trip. It turned out to be Dengue Fever (pronounced deng-gee), a tropical disease carried by mosquitos. All this to say that I don't know how people put up with the constant heat and humidity in Darwin. Throw in some Box Jellyfish, saltwater crocs, and the occasional cyclone (Darwin was almost entirely wiped off the map in 1974 by Cyclone Tracy) and Darwin seems like an acquired taste to me. Although I'm sure there are plenty of Darwinites who wouldn't live anywhere else.
@AshandKels
@AshandKels Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Totally agree, the humidity in Darwin is something else! We’re excited to head back south and have some fresher weather!

@@AshandKels Melbourne has a lot to see and I'm told that Adelaide is absolutely gorgeous. See if you can spot the slight accent difference in South Australia. SA was settled primarily by wealthier free-settlers and it shows in the accent. To me, a New South Welshman, the SA accent is quite posh. Even posher if you drive down to Victor Harbor. Have a safe journey and watch out for kangaroos and wallabies, around dusk and dawn especially.

Love your enthusiasm. Remember two things you should tell people. 1. Wear a hat always. As we say in Aussieland you don’t want to look like a red lobster. Spoils the holiday. 2. Swim between the flags at beaches. Great to see that you did not ignore the warning signs. Looking forward to your forthcoming videos.

Hello from Melbourne .if you want to see kangaroos in the wild just 5 or 10 minutes drive from the Melbourne airport go to woodland historic park ...walk 10 minutes to lookout area ...plenty of kangaroos go left they are around there somewhere packs of 50 to 100 roos...you can get quite close about 10 metres..don't move to quick else they will hop away
