Hey Mate I have a phantom 3 standard and been flying it and my race quads for a long time now but never tried litchi....quick question when running litchi on my Galaxy s7 edge is it important to Force stop the Go App???? And vice versa when running Go app Thanks
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 8 жыл бұрын
craig dixon Yes, ALWAYS FORCE STOP the GO app and vice versa when using Android. Thank you for asking, I totally forgot to mention it in the vid. The first time you open the Litchi app don't worry about force stopping GO, Litchi needs to verify itself with the DJI servers. After verification is complete and you finish going through the settings, turn the phantom & controller off, close the apps, force stop GO, then turn everything on as normal and open Litchi. Should be good to go. Thanks again for asking, that was an excellent question.

ZNoble Thanks for the quick answer ...Have you noticed that Dji go app now forces you to upgrade...Just noticed this morning my ver 3.1.1 wants me to upgrade to 3.1.3 and I can't do anything till I do....Urrggh

+craig dixon yeah, it's a little annoying. I'm running mine with a Wi-Fi-only nvidia tablet so I'll get those notices when/if it connects to the internet. I have no landline internet or wifi at the house so it's really not affecting mine, but I still have both apps on my phone and I have noticed the update notification windows popping up on my screen. Its weird for sure.

ZNoble Sorry mate ...1 last question...So are you saying I should turn on litchi for the first time and connect to my standard as normal and run through the settings in litchi without force closing The Go App....And then from there whenever I use litchi or go app I must force close one app before using the other????? Thanks

Thank you ZNoble for one of the best videos on Litchi. I've used Litchi from the get go with my first Phantom.

Charlie Phantoms Thanks. I know I sound a little rude in it but I had made this after seeing many "litchi crash" videos, 99% of which were totally avoidable. It really does boil down to common sense when using anything new, especially when setting up something as risky as autonomous flights.
@charliephantoms1839
@charliephantoms1839 7 жыл бұрын
Not rude at all. I will watch this again. I have two pilot error Litchi missions posted on KZbin. 1st video Phantom 3 Std on 14 minute mission hit brush, flipped upside down but made it home unmarked. 2nd video is Phantom 4 on 16 minute Litchi mission with a waypoint set 15 ft. below ground level ,OUCH!!. Obstacle avoidance prevented a crash but the quad arrived home 4 1/2 minutes late. The December 2016 update added the "relative to ground" mode to set waypoint altitudes in the batch waypoint editor.

One important point flying in uneven terrain. If you say, set it to 100 ft. RTG for all way points it will be 100 ft. RTG at those waypoints but not necessarily between the waypoints. If the ground elevations changes between the waypoints then that could be a problem. The drone will increase / decrease the elevation at a constant rate between waypoints. This might be obvious but if people are not aware of it they could get into trouble. That was the problem with the Phantom 3. The terrain did not drop at a constant rate but the aircraft did.
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 7 жыл бұрын
Charlie Phantoms right on. Around here the terrain is pretty flat so educated guessing and double checking makes it easy to pull off. That and close waypoint spacing. Back when the laws were a little murkier I tried a few long distance missions and terrain did come into play. That's were setting up the missions on a pc with elevation change is better. I'm in a rural area with no internet available so I'm stuck with what I have for the time being.

you asked, why "hover" is even an option in case of lost signal. imagine a scenario when you're shooting something indoors and drop your remote. the aircaft will temporarily lose connection and then will shoot straight up into the ceiling attempting to return to home.
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 8 жыл бұрын
Alex K I could understand that being useful in indoor testing situations. But for the rest (most) of people using this app, RTH would definitely be the preferred setting. Why do you think DJI Go comes with RTH as default?

nice thanks for waypoint vids i will now try litchi w my MavicPro. BTW 98ft is the standard 30meters (good all round "standard" distance to avoid urban trees/home/poles) but yes like you said check the areas around u if u in rural area u may have bigger trees

Thanks for the tutorial. I don't see hardly any of these settings on my Litchi app. Do I need to be connected to the RC and the mavic turned on to be able to see all these menus? I can't do it offline?
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 7 жыл бұрын
Anna Ferguson Yes. Some settings will allow for adjustments but won't save them unless the drone is connected. There might even be some settings that don't show up at all without the drone/controller connected. So its best to have your mavic connected while configuring the main settings like go home/maximum altitude, video format, and maximum location accuracy. Are you using an Apple or Android device?
@FergbyFive

Apple as I read too much neg feedback on Android on the forums. Yet to do a Litchi mission as I got a Downward Vision Sensor Calibration Error yesterday :( but dying to try this out Litchi and your tutorials are a great help. Thank you!

hey dude, can you run through what your process is for getting recorded video from the phantom all the way to editing and uploading? much appreciated.
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 8 жыл бұрын
mterry3788 Sure, pop the sd card out of the phantom, insert sd into tablet, edit footage, export rendered footage to sd, insert sd into cell phone, upload to KZbin through the KZbin app. **Make sure your upload settings in the KZbin app are correct before uploading the vid**

+mterry3788 what mobile devices are you using?
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 8 жыл бұрын
mterry3788 If the devices you're using don't have 4k displays it won't play correctly, it'll auto crop down to a resolution that it can play (my tablet does this), or it won't play all. Next thing it could be is the micro sd you're using doesn't have a fast enough read/write speed to handle 4k.

ZNoble, is data/Internet required to do the missions?
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 7 жыл бұрын
Earthling01 It's not required to execute the mission but it's pretty much essential to setup the mission. I use the Nvidia Shield tablet (wifi only) for all my flights now. Mission setup is done using my phone. Once the mission is saved I can move the file via sd card from the phone to the tablet.

So when I set it to “hover” after I lose signal, then what? I gotta go look for it? Idk about that. Not after the my last bear attack. Not until I at least heal
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 7 жыл бұрын
wckdclwn911 yeah, hover is a goofy setting to have as default. You can always go to the general tab in the settings menu and select "find my aircraft" if the drone is missing. That will show you it's last recorded coordinates.

Altitude limit is not as straightforward as you make it seem I live in a mountainous area and if you set this to no more than 400 feet that's 400 feet above where you took off I cannot find a setting that will adjust for ground level so I leave this setting at maximum
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 8 жыл бұрын
Tepee Tim there's no such setting. Neither the app or your drone knows the topography of the area it's flying in.. maybe within 5-10 years drones will be that advanced but as of now you will have to set your altitudes manually. There is another method of drawing out waypoint flight paths using Google earth and a desktop pc. That method does follow terrain topography and there are a few good instructional videos on how to do it.
@Swoopfpv
@Swoopfpv 8 жыл бұрын
OK Z noble no need to be a wise ass apparently you didn't read the directions because you can change altitude from above home or above ground once you've made waypoints selecting The batch tool and then changing altitude from home to ground .
@HI-PSI
@HI-PSI 8 жыл бұрын
Tepee Tim I wasn't trying to be rude. I think I know what you're saying now.. [EXAMPLE] You're taking off halfway up a 800' tall mountain, you want to fly above the summit which is 400' above the take off point. You would have to set your altitude limit to 800' if you wanted to fly 400' above the summit. You're absolutely correct, the altitude limit would have to be set higher than 400'. Is that what you mean?
@charliephantoms1839
@charliephantoms1839 7 жыл бұрын
Tepee Tim You have it right. Use the Batch Edit. When you select the Relative to Ground option. Litchi will automatically calculate the correct waypoint altitudes given the ground elevation at each waypoint, using the ground elevation at waypoint 1 as the reference. For the best results and because waypoint 1 is used as a reference, it is strongly advised to place waypoint 1 in a location close to where the drone will take off (i.e. similar ground elevation). This option requires internet as it uses the google elevation data which is only available online. After the changes are made and the mission saved you can fly it without internet. I fly in mountainous terrain so I use this feature for almost every mission.

Jamie Mink lol, I know. You should have heard the unedited version. Just blows my mind how people can go spend all kinds of cash on these things and not read the first sentence of an owners manual, then come complaining to me that they lost their Phantom. Yes, I'm rude and drive home the point of common sense to ad nauseam but it's just so folks will remember to stop and think about everything before they set off.
